They do, but have they got a reason for that? What drives them to be so hostile and/or territorial?
We know (thanks to DS9) that the Federation has a Tholian Ambassador. They have, at one point, spoken to each other without their weapons.
The Tholians aren't really all that bad. Remember their original appearance when the Enterprise violated their space? First thing they did was talk and they even negotiated and agreed Kirk's plea. They only got hostile when the Enterprise didn't keep their part of the bargain (for obvious reasons, but they did nothing "wrong").
And this is what I meant before. A lot of writing in STO only serves to deliver more cannon fodder (like I said, I didn't mean that as an insult or anything, just my personal taste). But I am glad to hear that someone on the team would like to flesh out the founder races social hubs
I also agree with the Orions. STOs portrayal of them is really bad, so bad we don't even see fully clothed Orions at all when TAS (which is canon) showed us they have regular uniforms and not everyone is affiliated with that damn syndicate. Orion is a civilization and has some highly acclaimed science institutions (Orion University and the Institute of Cosmology).
The assumption that a whole civilization is ran by one criminal syndicate and skimpy dressed women is highly questionable.
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
Aye, it would be nice to see a lot more of the KDF territories. Ships, new hubs, mission opportunities... lot of options. I'd even prefer this over Delta quadrant because I was never a big Voyager fan. Btw, where is Trill, Betazed, etc.? Would be nice to see at least the core Federation worlds added as well as a hub or something else. Hopefully we'll see that coming too in the future .
If you consult your in-game map, there was at one point an intention to release a sector block directly "west" of the Sirius block. This would contain Tellar, Trill and Betazed at the very least. Indeed, at one point Betazed was even marked on the in-game map to the "west" of Risa (although not in a sector obviously and inaccessible).

I'll be... never noticed that. Hopefully we'll get an Alpha Quadrant Rising expansion pack next year!
You're right. Let's convince Geko to do the Pakled homeworld instead.
Right next to the saurians...
But you know... Geko seems to be in control of STO, and once he thinks players are stupid idiots, theres no convincing him otherwise, so not much point in trying.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
The nyberrite alliance. So far as I can remember almost nothing about them was on screen in any series or movie. I would like a whole season on it. Not fighting them or fighting with them against 8172 or wwhoever, but working together to do something exploration based. Of course we would find a few bullies to pew pew at along the way. Something a little different and I think they are on good terms with both the feds and the klinks so it should fit nicely.

The only record of information I can think of for them is when Worf mentioned them in a DS9 episode. Beyond that, I know nothing (and my name is not John Snow).
STO has done some nice groundwork for it in the path to 09.
Plenty of room for shenanigans.
Maybe more uses for GPL.
I very much agree. The use of the Ferengi throughout DS9 (specifically) was a great way of highlighting UFP culture without learning about it through boring sermons from on high on how utopian it is (supposed to be).
I remember the Ferengi addition to the Featured Episode series was also received very well by players at the time too, and what with the various existing Ferengi assets already in game I think the scene is very well set for a Ferengi storyline.
I would also like to see more stories involving the usual suspects, namely the UFP founder races. Particularly stories highlighting tensions between them and those that shine a light on their caricatures of human behavior so that we get that old Star Trek feeling about the insight into what makes us human and how we might learn to be better.

Yeah, there's literally nothing known about them apart from the fact that they're willing to hire former Starfleet personnel. The EU didn't do anything with them, either.

I assume by "Alpha Quadrant" you actually mean Alpha and Beta Quadrants. . . ?
I've wanted to do something with the four Federation founding races for a while. Clean up Vulcan and Andoria, add Tellar Prime, maybe tack something onto SFA, and have a mission that leads you between worlds to learn about the founding of the Federation.
Still want to do Ferenginar as well.
Edit: I'll second Anazonda's suggestion on the Pakleds. I love those guys. Probably won't happen though, cuz Geko hates them.
Ever since Season 1.2 i was waiting for the day that i could warp into the Vulcan system in my lovely d'deridex warbid and make them pay, for their role in the destruction of romulus and remus.
I got the D'd, now a RSE mission blowing up vulcan....that would be something.....i m sure CBS will be on board.
On a serious note, those systems need love since they came out. Especially the pvp battle zone on Andoria, any attention would be highly welcome and i m sure well recieved.
Vulcan isn't so bad. Be nice if there were small, short missions to do relevant to Vulcan. You learn, you get to read up. You get some xp, some dil, some little tinkets. Same for the other worlds.
After watching TNG as a kid I thought up a list of stories I was hoping would get addressed in the future but never got to see on screen.
1: First contact between the Betazoids and Feds. They just showed up in TNG as a member and their past has never been discussed.
There's a lot of um... less prominent races that also find the bill. Benzites seem like a good example.
2: races that the Feds are known to have met offscreen. The Acamarians, for example, they're not a UFP member, but the Feds had met them prior to the events depicted in TNG.

But he thinks Dinos with lasers were a good idea?
That's some kind of bad joke right?
Well... At least he helps make things go...
It's a shame we can't get more background to a canon race yet again because of Geko's personal preferences.
I don't even like Pakled's. But yeah... maybe a Pakled would make a good Lead Designer. Just sayin'.
