will be odd to state this if geko is still around, thank you al for taking what little time you have to make it on the forum and answer some of this stuff. i havent seen such through answering in a while since brandon back in the day.

Thinking about twinks... they will be pretty much pointless in the new system - without a hard "finished for now" cap you'll always have to play your main. Doubt specialization would be accountwide?
This is a valid point. Is there any encouragement to even bother leveling alts? Or will it just be better to leave them for farmers (Dil, EC, etc.)
The rep system encouraged players to work on it with alts also because it had a stopping point, and there was nothing more to be done. Yet, if there was no end to them, why would many invest time in alts, since it would mean their main would only fall further behind compared to others who invested all their time into a single toon?
Or is there some more hidden info we need to wait for?

You're forgetting that each INDIVIDUAL player in the game is the "HERO".
Technically, YOU are the only one achieving that title.
One has to use an inordinate amount of "IMAGINATION" (and a whole hell of an amount of near-sightedness) to see this though.
Point I was trying to make is the title of Dahar Master is what it is a title. Where as a Supreme Commander/General is what the rank actually is in military terms.
What you guys are saying is that everyone who shows up to a meeting or engagement either combat or non-combat should be given an elustrius title comparable to the real world of a medal of valor recipient. As well I'm not forgetting the aspect of everyone is a hero but the empire across any series has heroes but that does not mean that every single one of them meets up to what would be expected from a Dahar Master.

actually a dahar master is a history teacher, a warrior who retired from the active life of a warrior, accumulated so much honor and respect that its enough for one life time, the experience the stories and songs are what dahar masters are about, however thats the extent of their abilities, to be a figurehead, the paragon of honor and for other klingons to look upto for inspiration. frankly the rank should of been renamed to a military designation not yet fully noticed something like a marshal.

In the course of your career, a KDF player:
Is instrumental during several engagements in the war with the Federation.
Fights the Fek'Ihri, legendary demons, and are given a bat'leth by Kahless himself.
Destroys a Tal Shiar installation on Nimbus, and destroy their Iconian gateway at Nopada.
Travels through time to stop the Devidians.
Repels a timelost Dominion invasion.
Delivers many, many crippling blows to the Borg, including killing the Borg Queen.
Assists in the discovery, exploration, and defense of the Solanae Dyson Sphere.
Repels Undine invasions of Earth and Qo'noS.
I wouldn't call all of that "showing up to a meeting." Each individual character has earned that legendary status (and canon is fuzzy on just who awards the title of Dahar Master, how one has to earn it, and what sort of standing it gives you in the KDF).
Yes, it can get a little weird when you think about all the other players with the title, but...video game. They've all accomplished the same things that you have.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
1- Alternate Advancement is pretty boring. And this is the STO version of Alternate Advancement. /yawn
2- Remember back in beta when the skill tree was switched because the powers that be didn't want players to be able to fill out the full tree by indefinitely gaining skill points? Yeah ... thanks for doing a full 180 on the philosophy so many years later.

The base code is set up in such a way to include a rank name change at each level.
I'm not so sure it's all that simple to change.
I seem to remember Dsthal telling us about this long ago when folks asked that same exact question.
It came down to having to re-write a very large section of the base code to enable this.
(something very much out of the question in terms of cost)
Well that just has to be wrong. I mean the word "Vice Admiral" and all the translations of it in French and German would be stored in a table somewhere. You wouldn't change any "base code", you'd just change the lookup table entry.
I mean seriously, I find hard to even entertain the possibility that these strings are hardcoded.

I think what Stahl was referring to at that time was the possibility of having the game instead pull your "rank" from your choice of title or some other, player-set option.
Which would require identifying every single place the game currently refers to your rank, and changing it, which would indeed be a big job.

Yeah wrong on all counts lol. Just scroll back and read what I had been posting and if that does not help I would do some research and get the facts right lol.

Do you have a source for your claims? Again, I can find no canon reference definitively stating that Dahar Master is or is not a military rank, nor how the title is acquired.

this pretty much shows how kor was treated when martok got a hold of him, he had all the honor and respect of everyone around him and that was the extent of his powers, you get the sense with koloth and kang they werent really concerned with empire concerns either before they were slain. and you source:
A Dahar Master (da-HAR) was a Klingon warrior who had reached a legendary status among his peers and subordinates.
dead or was a warrior once?

All Memory Alpha articles are written in the past tense, so I wouldn't read too much into that.
You're correct that Kor wasn't exactly treated well by Martok. Is it possible that Dahar Master is both a rank and a title, one you keep after you've retired (or whatever the Klingon equivalent might be)?
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
Think you might be misunderstanding. Most of the Memory Alpha entries are written in the past tense.
Jean-Luc Picard was a celebrated Starfleet officer.
Kathryn Janeway was a 24th century Starfleet officer.
the problem with that is that these series are present, not past or forward, they are serving officers, so does that mean that kor is a serving warrior or was a serving warrior before his dahar master title? how can you be sure?

The series are set in the past, as in they had already aired and any information contained within is not in the present.
Memory Alpha doesn't treat the series as if they are in the present or future, but as a fictional franchise that had already aired.
For instance, Kathryn Janeway's MA entry is set in the past. But Kate Mulgrew's MA entry is written in the present (as in she is still alive).
Since fictional characters are fictional, they are represented as such.
I can be sure because I can also point to any number of entries of characters who are most assuredly supposed to still be alive and/or serving presently in Starfleet.
Jean-Luc Picard is still alive because he was never killed in canon. And he is still a Captain since his retirement or what have you only takes places in soft canon (as in not on Memory Alpha). Yet his entry states he was a Captain.
If a great deal of entries are written in the past tense, then to me it makes sense that the Dahar Master entry was similarly just part of the MA formatting guidelines.

That was before they removed exploration. Now there's a whole lot LESS content to sift through in terms of maps/missions/text.
Should be easy peasy at this point, Rear Admiral Lower Half!

im not debating other aspects here, all im looking for is simple yes or no, can you be sure that a dahar master is a serving warrior, or was a serving warrior who took the title? because there is no hard evidence in either direction, past present or future.

I'd say Dahar Masters are still serving warriors. Kor was on the Oversight Council that approved klingons to become officers, and was able to reject Martok's application.
to me it seems as if a dahar master is a history teacher. a figurehead for young warriors to learn the thing that drives him or her to greater success and who wouldnt want to be trained by a skilled combat veteran of any legenadry campaigns or sit around a camp fire listening to his songs or comrades who did heroic feats and how he saved the day and died a warrior before hes time. i mean, it just seems like as a position of such honor that the empire shouldnt throw their dahar masters into the same pit as the rest of the warriors because they are the pillar of the empire.

Why couldn't they just change what the 'say rank' function does? The change would apply to any text that uses said function, like in the Foundry.

Why not:
Level 60 Admiral
Save Fleet Admiral until the Level 70 increase?

Thanks for being truthful about the Tier 6 ships dominating the Tier 5 ones since a level 60 will dominate a level 50
