Captains! We just unlocked the latest species intelligence report from Commander Mena of Romulan Intelligence! She's prepared a briefing for all Captains regarding the APU and the Turei!
I was hoping the APUs would make an appearance. There's something about the sheer tragic stupidity of their pointless war that makes them stand out amongst Trek antagonists. When I really think over the implications, I actually find them pretty creepy.
People will inevitably make BSG comparisons (especially given the design of their ships), but it makes me think more of a Terminator scenario where it turns out that Russia had its own version of Skynet which was just as nasty as the US one. Humanity gets wasted anyway, and two dumb robot armies spend the rest of eternity tossing nukes at each other for no better reason than 'a state of war exists'.
Interesting, APU's should be an interesting race for the game
These are the Voyages on the STO forum, the final frontier. Our continuing mission: to explore Pretentious Posts, to seek out new Overreactions and Misinformation , to boldly experience Cynicism like no man has before.......
Glad to see this up again. I like seeing the new groups we will get to see in the new expansion. Both of these will be good to see. I see a good fight with the APUs. I highly doubt we can use reason on them. The story possibilities are really out there with all of this. And I love good stories to keep me coming back.

Now that APU vessel is going to be a lockbox vessel someday I'm looking forward to =^,.,^=. You know it's going to happen, the Stargate/BSG resemblance is going to make it a hot seller and they know it! But I like it because it's simply cool looking!

Yeah their battleships look neat! Im not too into lockbox ships except m D'kora, but I'd defiantly get an APU ship. Kinda reminds me of something from stargate.
The post states of the Turei: "Because the Turei have a reptilian origin, the species in the Delta Quadrant they are most closely related to are the Voth."
Related implies a common evolutionary tree covering Delta Quadrant species and as the Voth are Terran in origin this implies the Turei are related to humans... perhaps similar would be a better word here than related? Otherwise we'd get into very complicated territory of not only all humanoid species having their evolution affected by the Preservers, but they (and hence all non-humanoid life related to humanoid life) in fact came from a single genesis event somehow transposed across the depths of space to millions of worlds. That would be a very stressful retcon.

Well, either way, I think that sentence is there to explain the fact that the Turei ship we saw in the post is a mildly reskinned Voth Palisade. This, as my research indicates, is due to the fact that the Palisade studio model was reused for the Turei.
Which brings me back to my previous question: Are we going to get a Turei skin for the Palisade? I like it better than the Voth one.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

... No it doesn't. It just means they're both reptilian.
I liked the idea of doing something with the APUs, yet I'm already disappointed because everything these races serve as is a lockbox template and some cannon fodder.

If the APUs turn out to be STO's Geth, I will be content.
Run a bit wild with there design. Canon is nice, but the standard APUs do look a bit dull for a android race.
I would love a pure machine race. Like the NBSG Cylons vs the old Cylons.
Honestly, I have an issue with the APU's. In the series, they were already on the verge of extinction due to the inability to reproduce. The Report says they still lack the ability and are still fighting between the two factions. Shouldn't they have wiped themselves out by now? They certainly shouldn't be able to handle getting their ships blown up by the dozens.

This is STO. Even the last remaining individual of a species would find ways to duplicate itself just to serve as cannon fodder for trigger-happy captains In this game it is top priority to get as much show references as possible to get people hooked up and playing, yet implement as few features as possible that would actually make sense regarding the IP. But to be fair, STO is hardly meant to be a trek simulation after all.

We've just recently decoded a new Intelligence Briefing on the Kobali! With this Rear Admiral Access, you'll be able to take a glimpse into the Kobali culture and what you will encounter as you prepare to enter the Delta Quadrant!
We also have word that Starfleet Intelligence Officers have requisitioned an ARC code in one of the previous intelligence reports! The first 300 Captains to find this code and enter it will receive a free Section 31 Uniform. It's time to put your intelligence skills to the test!

Yeah in a real simulation the federation would not be running around in vessels that are so overpowered compared to vessels of the klingon empire lol.
What I found keeps being called incorrect, so... I guess too late.

That's how the ship appeared in the episode "Prototype." http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20050829171807/memoryalpha/en/images/d/d2/Pralor_ship_from_viewscreen.jpg
"Prototype" first aired Jan 1996.

Indeed. So the real question is, why does the Ha'tak remind us of an APU ship?
After fighting them on tribble, they are one of the more interesting enemies I've seen.

I'm sorry to people who I, in the past, insulted, annoyed, etc.

ARC redeems the code...log in to STO...no uniform...log out to check...and there's prepatching!
It's a trap!
I noticed that too!
Hrmm, is it a time-delayed code of some sort...ARC redeemed the code...but it didn't unlock the uniform.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
