And they do conduct science. But their starships are not build with as a strong focus on science and discovery as the Federation ones. They may putn as much as effort as the Federation in science, exploration and research - but they don't focus it as much on their starships.. And so, the Federation remains to be the one with the most science-focused vessels.
Which, again, doesn't rule out a new Romulan science vessel by any means.
Imagine spending over $1000 over the years on lobi and lockbox ships, having quite a proud and venerable collection only to have them completely obsolete overnight.
That would be the beginning of the quick end to STO.
isnt that what pretty much happened when romulans were dropped on us?
i think cryptic would have no hesitation at all to devalue everything in your inventory if they thought it would make $ for the next quarterly report.
As another poster wrote, I would like to see a metric ton of content for once. You know so we have something to do with all our shiny ships and gears. Not too late Cryptic ...

Every time Geko say's that something good is coming, his nose grows. :P
It's reached the equator so far.....
That's not true. Geko's nose technically does grow, but it hasn't actually become enormous in size since it has collapsed into a singularity under its own mass.

Does he use it to power his super-mega-ultra-supreme singularity-driven Fed ship?
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

I can agree with this.
However, this fact doesn't mean KDF and RRF players shouldn't have access to science vessels in-game, in my opinion.
Well, the Dyson Science Destroyer seems to make a pretty good Science Vessel to me.
I think so as well (at least the freebie one). Other than the crazy-weird looks, that is. Too bad you can't really customize the hulls.
As for the ten console variants from the C-Store, I can't really say if they are on par with Starfleet's Vesta line or not (arguably the best science platform in the game, Fed-side).

Each faction has the Dyson Sci Destroyer. How about something unique Romulan and, especially, unique Romulan looking? Sure, the Romulan Dyson ship looks rather neat, but I am not a great fan of the Solanae aesthetics, and I would just like my Romulan vessel not to be Dyson'ed up.
Is this wish really that absurd?
You know what? I would even settle with another skin for the Dyson Sci Destroyer at this point.
I have 26 characters who use fleet ships or lockbox ships. I have no need whatsoever for new ships*. I need something to use those ships I already have in. And playing ISE for the gazillionst time is not what I mean.
*Well, carriers could persuade me, like the Narcine did. Still want a Romulan carrier.

Agree. A pure romulan carrier will make far more sense than a romulan science ship. We only have the scimi, that for unknown reasons has a carrier bay, and the arkif, with a limited pair of carrier bays, and i cant remember more ships with carrier bays. A focused carrier will be awesome, instead of a science ship. Romulans are romulans, stop trying to give em a Vesta lol.
But the asthetic is really important, before they release a romulan carrier, please take care of the asthetics. The Narcine is ugly as hell, only because the designers didnt have "time" to make it less flat. Im really tired of seeing this in several ships.. lack of details here and there, without forgetting the lack of interest of the designers to make ships more realistic (and then you have deflector FX in places where they are not supossed to be or there are not space for deflectors). If you want a ship, at least ask em for a well-made ship. If not you are going to get ship after ship with crappy designs and really poor details everywhere. The only details the narcine has are those things where you can see water (it is supossed to be water..) inside. The rest of the ship is.. TRIBBLE. And how the hell do you place a deflector in the front of that ship?? non sense. But the designers do it anyways lol. Another reason to never adquire the Narcine, one of the most ugliest ships cryptic released so far.

Romulan carriers seen/mentioned onscreen: Zero except the half-carrier Scimitiar, which is already ingame.
Romulan science vessels seen/mentioned onscreen: Two (one seen in TNG; one mentioned in Voyager)
The numbers speak for themselves. You have clearly nothing to backup your statement, except of personal opinion. Neither gameplay nor canon prefer a Romulan carrier over a Romulan science vessel.
Anyone who has played WOW has experienced every piece of gear becoming suddenly obsolete though they may have ground literally thousands of hours to get it, so it obviously is not suicide for an MMO to raise the level cap.

No one talked about gear you've grinded... We are talking about ships... Things that have cost money... loads of money for some people (fortunally not me though... Stopped buying when they announced F2P)
Why is this such a hard concept to grasp?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
People didn't spend hundreds (or possibly way, way more) of dollars opening lockboxes to buy a ship and gear in WoW though. So yeah, raising the level cap and making all those lockbox ships obsolete is a concern.
I doubt they'll make any ship like that "obsolete". That's not to say we won't get tier 6 ships though.

Of course they can make T6 ships and announce "hey, nothing you own we be lost... it won't get any worse...".
But we all know it will get worse relatively to the new T6 ships. So that's just BS, isn't it?
Actually, devaluation already happens. Whenever a new ship is released, it tends to do something better then an older semi-equivalent.
Current example is the Xindi Aquatic Carrier Dradnought. Beats the JHDC, which by itself is a beast of a ship.
My guess is that the new announced line of ships will raise the OP limit by probably raising the cap level.I hope there will be a mechanism to upgrade player existing ships to this new level .
About the kdf 5 fore raptor that was announced i do remember that there was also something about the fact that kdf will not be pleased with it so my guess is that the new 5 fore raptor will be made by intent with lower stats than the other ships that will be will be launched in X2.(remember bortas'q launch=5 tac and 5 turn rate )
Anyway in this moment I don't care any more about that ,my kdf tac is doing mostly ground PVP and it seems that is the near future for him or probably in one moment I will stop doing PVP with him.

It's not like Romulan science vessels would be something entirely new.
lol, the Vesta is soooo far from the dyson destroyer xD..

As you should... I mean... Have you seen how he writes about players on twitter?
I'll give him a break when he starts to respect the customers... Meaning I can continue to bash him.
This. I give him a break when he gives us a break.
