I think you have about summed it up Mancom. We have explained it to him more then a few times at this point.
Pandas is a museum fleet at the moment. We (mostly not me but still) got the fleet to T5. The fleet name and base is sitting there waiting for more of our friends to return.
There is NOT enough active pandas playing the game to form a premade at this point. Still there are a few active pandas that would for sure like to put together a 5 man premade again. Issue is they don't have enough current pandas to really do that in an effective way. So yes the fleet has decided its best to do a side project and include some friends. (I explained the Panda recruitment procedure, the community knows that is how Pandas has always operated.) Adding new members with so many core players on hiatus is an issue. So you can either fight a team consisting of 2-3 pandas and 2-3 other guys... or they can form a new team and get shirts printed. What do you care ?
No amount of name calling is going to make us divide like ameba. If its PvP he wants it sounds like there is a project in the works to bring another quality team to the game. (from what I hear it sounds like the quality of this new team will be far more then you can handle and I predict they will get bored and retire on top as well). lol
A far better cliff hanger than I would have ever come up with. All the best to the community out there.
The most positive rivalry the Pandas had was with TSI. We were extremely competitive with each other yet never known another fleet where we could just say gg after a match, no matter what the results, and actually mean it without having any ill feelings whatsoever. I lie, RE was another. Them 3 plus hour matches.
And another thing, neither of us have claimed to be the best. Never had the need to mouth off.
Funny thing is, some of the best PvP matches we had were the ones TD style before the term TD was coined, and after. 1 of the most memorable, Mini asking Pandas to do a 10 v 10 vs whoever. No bragging rights , no nothing. Just pure anadulturated fun. Good times.
The most memorable for me was last year in TD was a match with Mini and me on opposing sides. Never in my life have I had a match where it literally was down to me shooting at mini first or him shooting at me to win the match. The victory was truly irrelevant. I really do wish I had recorded the match to remind me the most from everybody why I PvPed. Every single participant truly went away happy and it also got a couple into the PvP scene long term.
Next time you PvP, think why you PvP. Is it the pure victory and bragging rights, or is it the fun part we strive for. Sometime I forget as well

One of my favorite deaths back when I had Fed toons came from an ISC duo...it was pretty awesome. Memories getting faulty, but pretty sure it was a Korath and Krenn - Tac and Sci - Phased Polarons and Elite Disruptors...absolutely shredded a guy that would normally fly around going wheeeee in a Chel Grett out in the open before all of my wheeee shenanigans with Willard from the shadows.
