They must think people have money to go all the way to Vegas/Sin City just to flaunt and spend their money on a Star Trek Convention. Seriously? All the way in Vegas? Why not make this convention a tour. You know a weekend here in this country, then in another country. At least "that way" folks might have a chance to attend and enjoy the event. But hey who doesn't want to do events the old school style. Probably because TOO MANY celebrities have too many things to do. Course that's just me.

On a side note here we are talking about "Star Trek" and honestly hello? With all the confusion between the Prime Universe and the JJ Abrams Universe is there still enough hype that hangs on the "Fringe" here for anyone to even go anymore? Not to forget also the money to go. Hell I was happy with SheVACon and Mysticon being here in VA. We need more events like that nationally! And also have all the major franchises pitching in. Again, "that way" the sci fi community is still coming on strong as a fan base.

    In response to these...
    Research and Development:
    • Resolved an issue which was allowing players to run multiple Research Training projects from the same school simultaneously.
    • Only 1 Research Training project can be run at a time per school.

Anyone who knows me in game knows I buy zen from time to time and I don't just buy 5-10USD worth. I buy quite a bit. Not only that, I am also a lifer so I have paid a fair amount of money into the game. That being said, I am , at this point, halting all my zen purchases.

I am doing this as a way to let Cryptic know that the nerfing of the R&D system is unacceptable. Running multiple research projects was a good way to get a jump on pushing a school further and faster. To be honest, I wasn't at all happy with the grind the way it was setup. However, the researches made it tolerable. Removing this ability to run multiples pretty much says that they want us to takes months to complete even a single school unless we dump huge amounts of dilithium into nothingness.

I am not even going to get started on the ridiculously low drop rates for the Very Rare R&D mats (59 elite runs and not a single VR mat).

I'm not gonna yell. I'm not gonna call anyone names. All I am gonna do is not give Cryptic anymore of my money until this is resolved. I have defended Cryptic on several occasions when it came to grinding and farming items, but this I cannot defend. It's been said many times before in this thread - Bad idea is BAD. I am sure any Dev or Community Manager can look at my account and see just how much money I have sent their way in the past 2 years. Consider that money lost from this point forward until you lessen the grind you have turn the game into.

I think all of us should do the same. Our words can only do so much. Our wallets will speak much louder.
...is one of the most reasonable posts thus far. I'm not sure a crowd of folks that travel all the way to Vegas for an STO panel is going to be fun to deal with, as those same folks are going to be somewhat more diehard. Please give the folks going a heads up to pack some asprin, in case they weren't already doing so in case of hangover.

I think you may be right.

I know that, if i were going to STLV, the last few days would have decided what I wanted to talk to the devs about.........

You know, the people I have talked to at Vegas in previous years, about STO, have all been great to talk with.

I do not, in any way mean this as a dig on the forums, but face to face interactions are a LOT different than over the intarwebs anonymized interactions. People are always open and friendly, even when we're talking about things that we disagree on. I always look forward to meeting STO players at STLV. We always have our awkward 'nerds standing near each other' moments, but overall it's great. I enjoy seeing some of the repeats, and getting to know them better, and I love meeting new folks there.

if a star trek convention ever came to a more open location in the uk instead of one way street london, i would be no different in real life then i am on the forum, thats who i am and the difference being is that im monotone emotion type of person, being someone strongly suspected of being bi-polar so patience isnt high on my list of things. the other thing is that face to face time the devs cant duck out of it unlike the mentioned anon status, especially on a question.

so one question i have a burning desire to see answered if al rivera was in front of me "why dont you come to the forum with your information? how does it help isolating your own information to 3rd hand reports months later after the fact?", i wouldnt mind making him sweat over it either.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.

Fair enough. The plus side of the one-on-one, or even panel, discussions is that communication can be conducted directly. While you in particular have always been the posterchild for open and just plain excellent communication on these forums (IMHO), even you can't respond to every post and every issue we have. That unfortunately means that for hotbutton issues, the forums can explode in a wall of discussion before there's any sign of feedback from the dev team or CM's, much less the chance to get the information to do so if it's something the individual doesn't have direct knowledge or experience with. Then again, when asked a question you almost always have an answer; it'd be nice of the folks working on gameplay and procedural decisions were as forthcoming on the reasoning and processes behind some of their decisions. This was an interesting outline of what you'd done, how you'd done it, and why you'd done it that way.

Of course, you get to make us cool things; it's hard not to appreciate tacofangs :P

That may have a lot to do with the fact that you answer questions as you can, and take the time to explain your decisions.

With all my heart, you're not the bad guy here.

Sadly, somebody in cryptic hides from explanations, fails to explain decisions and treats players with contempt.

I doubt their experience of face to face communications is the same as yours.

Some new exciting announcements of more distracting grinds, while people continue to spend money?

Don't get me wrong. I'd like to still enjoy the game, but things don't seem to be changing towards the better, just more of similar, stale things. I hate to see things like the graphics artist's work gone to waste but bland stories, easy content, that you're forced to repeat rather than encouraged to by the fact it has awesome drops, and or is challenging. And just to throw it in there, no notable changes to PVP. Not even a nother map, a reskinned map, throw in a rock or two. Something

    I can only agree.

Maybe i shouldn't say this, but it only takes few people to ruin the reputation of many. (which is sad)

So long as announcements are published here, as opposed to having to find out via twitter.

    Watching the livestream now.

They just announced T6 ships. There will be a "new class of bridge officer" to go with them; no idea what that means.

X2 is called "Delta Rising", and it does indeed take place in the Delta Quadrant.

Voyager interior confirmed. Looks great. There are "missions" that take place there.

Talaxians and Ocampa are in the game as "allies" to players. As for enemies, they're confirming what we already knew about who they'd be.

"Explore strange new worlds" -- showing planets that will be in the DQ. Unfortunately livestream froze at this point :/

New ships with "new aesthetic" matching "new and unique powers" -- they won't say what those are yet. New KDF raptor; 'bout time.

Also, level 60 and mk XIV gear confirmed. Alongside an alternate advancement system once you reach 60.
