I hope there will be blog posts after the panel, to share the STO news with those of us not going to LV. :)

Just be warned guys, the unless creation has vastly improved streaming capability of panels, it will be...sub optimal as my previous experience will tell you.
ourse if someone can isolate the mike picxkup and get that recorded, maybe tht will help greatly

    cast:

Creation DOESN'T stream ANY of its panels. The previous attempts to stream from the panel hall were failures because we were trying to use our own personal mifi's as a means to get it out there (and we had Cryptic's and Creation's permission) - but the coverage IN the halls tends to be jammed by the AV company that is contracted to provide wifi and cell service so they can charge $1500.00 per booth in the vendors area.

Just wanted people to be very clear that Creation never has provided any type of wifi or streaming, and in fact expressly forbids it unless they have a contract in place.

Great so as I'm in the UK I have no chance of getting this unique doff and the same goes for anyone else who isn't in the US. Could at least make it available so the rest of us in the world can have her for watching the live stream or something.

Not to sound like a *** but when did the US close it's borders to visitors from other countries?

Back on topic. Seeing how 9.5 and it's big parts are already know, could this be the next expansion? Just like I wished they let me turn my Alien-created Romulan into a real Romulan when LoR came out I wish they would let me make my Alien-created Cardassian when this expansion comes out.

It's not borders, it's money. Las Vegas is hella expensive to get to, even if you're living IN the Continental US

Ok, when did travel become so expensive that nobody in the world can travel to the US? Saying that NOBODY outside of the US can get it is a very broad statement. I understand you're not happy that you can't get it. Holo-Leeta has been a gift for anyone attending any of the major ST conventions sense the DOff system came into being. I'm from the US, I've never been able to get her. You don't see me posting "Great so as I work I have no chance of getting this unique DOff and the same goes for anyone else who has to work" do you?

Dude, seriously, it IS expensive. I looked it up. From where I live in Virginia (East Coast), to get the cheapest round-trip tickets and a room the hotel the place is staying in for that weekend, I'm looking at NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS. That's not counting anything else.

Some of us DON'T have that money. I know I don't, but I'm not complaining - I'm just pointing out that some of us don't have the money to get there.

BranFlakes always offered the Leeta Doff to anyone that could show they attended a Star Trek Con, even if we were not in attendance. I'm sure if you would like a Leeta Doff, you could talk to Smirk about it.

I just searched it up, not sure if you'd fly out of Richmond or Norfolk but went with Richmond. I'm between $400 and 600, depending on which hotel I went with. Don't just look at the hotel the event is in. I can get hotels on the Strip, a mile away, for prices ranging from 48-124 a night. Circus Circus had the best price at 48 a night but I never liked that one. Excalibur was the second at 54 a night. Also, save in advance. There are several major ST conventions a year that STO goes to. Pick the one you like and save up in advance, whatever you can a month and if you plan early enough in advance and willing to look around, you should have no trouble going.

My problem is that my job doesn't give me much vacation time and in the last 3 years I haven't been able to get the week of the STLV convention (my preferred one, love Vegas!).

I really didn't mean to come off sounding mean or rude. I just don't like when people use broad statements ("Great so as I'm in the UK I have no chance of getting this unique doff and the same goes for anyone else who isn't in the US. Could at least make it available so the rest of us in the world can have her for watching the live stream or something") saying nobody can do something because they can't.

Such as Destinations in London from 3-5 October with such guest stars as William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, Bruce Greenwood, Karl Urban, Jeri Ryan, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, John de Lancie, and Denise Crosby?

Yeah, $1000 is about the right price, for flight, hotel, gen. admission, and foodstuffs. Not cheap, but if it's something you've saved for all year, it's probably worth it. This will be my very first con.

Check out the contest for free gen admission that Smirk posted. You could also save money by booking at the Gold Coast hotel, which looks to be in walking distance to the Rio.

Anyway, it's going to be a blast. I'm meeting a group of Foundry authors on Wed., and our main objective for the day is to take a bus to the Pawn Stars pawn shop and check it out.

Then go to the U.K one, because they also give out the doff for the London Conventions.

It's Las Vegas in August. Nothing is walking distance. You burst into flames if you try walking more than about 100' outside.

So you're saying that Las Vegas in August is the Nukara adventure zone?

And I'll bet another ten bars that the "not just text" portion of the announcement will be a video, more specifically, a trailer for X2. No live stream.

Wasn't there a recent ST London where attendees were given the Leeta DOff? There was also one in Germany.

Dude, seriously, the DOff isn't exclusive to STLV. I got mine by attending the CON in NJ. There's also one in Boston, and Chicago. There's even a Con in Baltimore called Shore Leave that is mostly ST related. All we have to do is let our Community Manager know when it is, and I'm sure it will qualify.

Really, people, it's only a blue quality DOff and title. If you're that hard up for a Blue quality DOff, I have plenty to give you.

True. I remember about 10 years ago now, I was in Vegas on the hottest day of not just that summer but in the past 5 years! Me and my GF at the time were walking form one place to another place. When we left the first place we were joking and laughing about people on the streets selling water bottles for $5. We weren't laughing a half mile later when we got to the place we were going.
