Never once considered a2b even after I learned about it and even now only have a vague understanding as I have no interest in wanting to copy it. I like to think I don't rely on a cheap way to win due to a combination of things that make the game broken. This might not actually be thew case or isn't now but it's been enough to put me off trying. If there's so much hype especially in pvp and prices for stuff is astronomical then it's added reason to not follow the trend for many reasons.

Bah. Usual lame answer from one who won't learn the secrets of AtB/AtD hybrids. If you think AtB is just a matter of CDs, you understood little to nothing about it.
You should also realize that there are people whose sole concerned is not uber max perfect dps efficiency. You might find it stupid for someone to bring a galaxy in ise, but you're ignoring the possibility that person might just be a fan of the ship line and wants to be Picard. And they might like having the extra engineering abilities to mess with. And you also ignoring the fact that they already know it's not the best performing ship dps wise but they don't care about that specific details. The only important question to ask is does it get the job done? Yep!!! And stop there, because that's all that do matter for some people.
If you can understand the reason why there are still groups of people that don't want to captain scimitars, despite it being the ultimate win button (as far as pve is concerned anyway), then you should know what I'm talking about.
So I hope that you now understand where I'm coming from and why I'm defending the galaxy ship you belittle so much. It's an iconic ship, almost the same performance as the ambassador (which I do fly and average 6k dps). People just have to build it and let it do its thing. If you hate it so much, you can always go back to the scimitar, do some cookie cutter a2b or whatever but be warned that you might feel like uninstalling the game due to total boredom. I'm assuming a lot of course, but it's a distinct possibility, I've seen many victims already.
Moral of the story, the galaxy is fine the way it is.
people quite often use ship becase they like them, its a big part of why you see all the diverse ships you do, not just the top 5 or so in the entire game only. but, for galaxy fans to use thier favorite ship, they have to suffer using the worst ship in the game. no other fan favorites ship is even close to as bad, they get to RP as their fav and not be a drag in whatever content they play. the ambassador has twice the support or DPS potential a galaxy R has, they aren't remotely comparable. your defense of the galaxy is TERRIBLY misguided, no one should defend that ship's existence as it is now. there's no reason people that want to use it should have to suffer its worst ship in the game by a mile status. the galaxy is fine if your intention is to punish people that like it, and after that joke of a galaxy reboot, its crystal clear that their intention.
I dismiss it for pve, it is not at all required. Not anymore. And in pvp there are more important things to consider than the availability of tactical team. Let me reiterate, tactical team will get you killed if you're not careful, it isn't a miracle cure. And if you happen to be an ambush hit/run vaper, you could remove tactical team altogether and do some interesting things with your ensign tac slots.
Moral of the story, the galaxy is fine the way it is.

I'm not a huge fan of A2B but neither am i against it. I will use it on the ships that need it only.
however if the ship can perform better without A2B i will stay away from it. in a lot of cases A2B will degrade the performance of your ship, examples would be: all escorts, science ships, carriers, and tactical cruisers with flexible boff seating.
in some cases a2b will improve the tanking potential of your ship while degrading your damage output. in PvP that might be a positive instead of a negative but it really depends on your playstyle.
the most important thing is to fly in whatever way makes you comfortable and ignore the rantings of everyone who want you to fly your ship in their preferred style.
Tactical team does help but it would be much better to use science team with epts to survive those mobs and possibly a BFI. The borg tachyon is the one thing that's the most dangerous in STFs, as it depletes your shields completely and leaves you vulnerable to ultra spikey borg torps. Check your logs, with shields up you will notice values like Tactical cube deals 234(55000) with plasma torpedo. I also realize borg torps can hit so hard and take out a side shielding. You can easily counter that by smart rotation of resists abilities such as SIF/EPTS/BFI etc... I do understand these concepts might be foreign to some in the dps crowd, but it does work.
power insulators protect you from the borg drain/ TT/eps tss keep your resistnces up70% resistance with a maco/omega ect shield ...borg torps cant hurt you if you maintin shields.......
.in weak pugs i tank this cube start to finish putting out 12k dps keep all of the team alive at the same time by holding threat show they arnt targeted
I'm guessing if I told you I could tank borg gate for a significant amount of time without epts, that would be crossing the line?
if your tanking the gate your doing it wrong
Hmm, I don't if we're talking about the same ship but I'm looking at the exploration cruiser retrofit and its description mentions a lieutenant tactical station.

Lol I've fought you once or twice already but I forgive you for not knowing this nub ^^. And we did try to have a dog fight once but I was jumped by your friends. There is actually a very funny background story (the reason I remember it so well).
My pug team was losing badly, roflstomped even. You saw me and tried to alpha me in your very popular decloak scimitar ambush, I retaliated with a gdf enhanced alpha but I couldn't prevent you from cloaking (I so wanted to score that kill). Your friends noticed and I got stabbed in the back and ended the match. It's funny because you commented "nice comeback at the end there" probably because I managed to bring you down to 50% but I don't think you realized that I had just warped in a minute earlier :P.
Either they may not have heard me call it as a 1v1 or, more likely, they did and chose to troll me.
Now on topic. was actually chatting with some of the disorderly conduct about how much of a crutch aux to bat tray 7 space bar spam is. It's almost funny how most of the disorderly crew have aux to bat or even have a tray linked to a button, and yet somehow have been painted as the poster child for why its OP. I know it's a shame that aux2faw will let a barely competent player get more scores on the board than a decent player using other methods. but please don't take it out on my friends because, like you, they think scimitars that run dual aux2bat are just spacebar jockeys that don't really know how to play the game.
That being said I could totally get behind beams being unable to be put on a scimitar.. Please cryptic nerf players who don't do things the way I would like them to.

Most (if not all) of us in Disorderly believe that A2B is a lame mechanic. Some of us will use it when appropriate though.
It is one way to run a decent Scimitar, it works really well for Romulan toons. However a non-aux2bat scimitar will always out perform it.
PS, a decent player using non a2b will always outperform a barely competent player using a2b.
Why were you spiking/vaping with a b'rel instead of using a t'varo the other day?
i was in my norgh because i didn't delete my kdf characters when LoR droped, flanking is a thing, and tvaro cant get even close to the station setup i would want for that build. also, getting vaped by a lolly kdf is much more humiliating then by a warbird

Correct. This has and will always be the case.
a2b is just the thing thats "in" right now... if a good player runs a copy of aux2bat its to compliment their build... to build a ship based on aux2bat.. its pointless... atleast in pvp...

i don't want a2b nerfed, i don't see where you get that from my post.
it's a great and cheap mechanic that help low performing players get to an intermediate level.
it's a not a silver DPS bullet but it does have it place. the only thing that annoys me about it is that people try and squeeze it onto every ship that can fit it, be it escort, science ship, carrier or tactical cruiser.
my rule of thumb is if you can seat 2 or 3 tactical officers with 5 or more tactical abilities on a ship, you do not need aux2bat to boost tactical performance.
Bah. Usual lame answer from one who won't learn the secrets of AtB/AtD hybrids. If you think AtB is just a matter of CDs, you understood little to nothing about it.
I understand enough that I don't need to rely on such a mechanic to do well in the game.

Depends. I have a non AtB cannon Scimitar, a hybrid AtB/AtD one will have its perks and downsides compared to mine. I run EPtW,1 EPTE1, DEM1 for Marion, with a secondary loadout that gives me AtD1 instead of DEM. There I either miss a huge Alpha or turn/immunity to pulls/resilience with doff. Still, an AtB/AtD one will retain both of them, get DEM2 with shorter CD as well.
Anyway, I earn a way more flexible tactical layout, be able to pop attack patterns with zero downtime using Zemok, keep double cannon ability and a THY3 biomolecular nuke, have total control on my abilities, so that I always know that a few seconds later I have CRF and APB/APO handy. Plus, I don't have to shunt aux power, thus cloak is far more stable. And with doffs, my layout earned a slot I could give to WCE cleanse, so I'm less susceptible to debuffs.
It's a matter of preferences, I tried both builds and non AtB yielded me more satisfaction. I'd say AtB/AtD one is slightly faster, mine's more versatile, tac abilities wise. I do all sort of fun stuff with HY3, double CRF, double attack patterns, double TTs

Now I may be arguing semantics here here (or reading back my post I don't think i made what I meant perfectly clear) but I meant they would get more damage on the score board at the end. In my mind that does not accurately gauge your performance, you may have dealt damage that didn't lead to kills or sent heals that weren't needed. An example of this was a game I had maybe two weeks ago. I won't mention names but I was playing with an escort pilot I fly with quite often he is competent, there are worse players than him and better. Also on my team was a aux2faw cruiser, it took 10 seconds of the game for me to think "my what a lot of buffs he has running" and decide he must have the majority of his skills on cycle. About a minute later I was sure this was the case as his dem/faw/apx had came completely out of sink. Now the escort was out damaged considerably by (IMO) the less skilled player and was credited with 2-3 less kills as well. Despite this from were I was sitting I would say his spikes led to more kills whilst our cruiser simply hit more things more often and had a chance to touch things with his aoe before they were melted by another player. I have seen this sad story many times before and since. A lot of escort pilots get bruised ego's because they do not think the score board accurately reflects there awesomeness. Or maybe I'm just rationalising my own repressed faw envy?

Faw's pressure damage, escorts do the opposite, spiking often enough to overcome enemy's shield regeneration. Then there are faw escorts for absolute incompetents who won't learn the dual heavies way, the exception that confirms the rule.
I think of faw as spam clearer ability. Was fighting a recluse who liked to drain with elite interceptors. Realized soon enough CRF was little use when I couldn't move on Avenger. Ah so you're having fun with a lolly kdf to humiliate people one by one instead of rather playing with a tvaro that can potentially vape an entire team? But you can't imagine or think it's illogical that someone might enjoy the galaxy and its silliness despite there being other more performing ships. Do you see the double standard?
tvaros vapeing entire teams? as if that's some regular thing you can count on when you use a rom character vs a kdf? the iconic galaxy R that deserves so much better then being the worst ship by a mile, irredeemably bad, is now just something silly? and these 2 things are somehow connected and justify each other? how exactly does your mind work? this post has to be the result of some kind of chemical or brain damage.
Overpowered? It's only overpowered against people who doesn't know how to use their defensive skills properly...
There are tons of a2b ships out there right now, that has no idea on how to time their assault, they just spam their skills as soon as they are off cooldown. These people generally loose against a seasoned player that knows how to cycle their healing-skills properly.
You have to find the perfect balance between pressure dps, burst dpc and defence for a ship to do well in PVP, most people tend to overcompensate in one or two areas and the result is usually a mediocre pvp build, or a really crappy one.
I think what Diuz is trying to say in his posts is that it reallly doesnt matter what build you have... you could of had the best build ever, but if you don't know how to fly it.. it sucks either way....
And "most" people actually does not know how to fly their ship...And it is very very easy to exploit and kill these players, just because their healing/buff cycles are full of openings.
This. As someone who uses aux2bat on his cruisers, I know how vulnerable 90% of aux2bat heroes are. I time my BOFF abilities, and will kill the majority of aux2batters out there in a few minutes with my excel. My patrol escort can do it faster without aux2bat, especially against aux2bat ppl with 2 copies of it. They have almost no healing. Unless you know how to use it, aux2bat isn't OP, even if you do know how to use it, it's not the strongest build out there.

Been thinking of going non-A2B on my fleet excelsior - perhaps going 2x A2D (vs. my current A2B/A2D hybrid). My concern is the skill CDs. DEM3 takes forever to come back without A2B, and pressure damage with FAW is likewise out of the question since the uptime isn't enough against hardened targets.
Maybe it's time to go single-cannons/turrets, perhaps with a DBB for the BO spike...any suggestions on how to build such a beast?
