How does asking for more (and better designed) optional team content impact your ability to continue soloing the game?
i think i get where he is coming from if Dev did make said content and its a hit maybe the Dev would start focusing on said content more then solo friendly stuff but i could be wrong
imo game need to start acting like a MMORPG and not a single player console game

So basically the thread is "This isn't an issue now, but: If A, and If B, and If C, then it could be...DOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!!"
If we've gotten to the point that there are so few real issues that we have to start borrowing against maybe-possible future ones, we're riding high and letting our freak flag fly.
Apparently some of you aren't bright enough to figure that out.
So...
folks that don't share your hatred and disdain for other players...
folks that don't feel punished because they didn't get a reward they didn't earn...
folks that don't have the feeling that other players are out to get them...
Oh, I considered that line of argument as a possibility, but discarded it.
STO is a big game, there's room for everyones taste and proclivities....more or less.
What you've just written is the equivilant of the horrible disco ball threads.
You don't like something, so you want it out of game.
Even though, if it were added, it would have no effect on you in the slightest.
You'd still be free to play whatever content you wanted in the game, and if you didnt want to play this theoretical content you wouldnt have to.
All you're saying is that you don't want something, so you think nobody should have it.
An exceedingly weak argument.
Except that's not the argument. In fact I've said I don't care if they add harder group and raid content.
What I do care about is when they do that and make it the only place you can get the best gear in the game.
Having played MMOs for close to 20 years I can say with 100% assurance that the raiders will absolutely demand that the best gear come from raids and only raids. That is where I have issues. And no, I'm not playing another round of "raids should have the best rewards because I say so".
Anyway, I'm done with this, it's now the same two or three people asking the same questions over and over and making the same stupid comments that have already been answered multiple times in this thread.
You can now continue telling each other how cool you are without my interference.

But I was already to flip out and not see you guys for three months.
Cryptic,
I've seen several threads and posts from other players suggesting that harder content be added to the game. While I'm all for Cryptic adding everything they can for everybody in the game, with the belief that the better overall the game is for everybody the more revenue the game will see and thus the game will be better for me, it does leave me with a concern that might not be a concern at all.
One of the advantages that I have found with Star Trek Online over most other MMO games I have played is how supportive of and friendly to this game is for the solo player. While it may take more time, and perhaps even potentially more individual effort in some cases, solo players are still able to earn all of the "endgame" gear rewards. Sure, the solo player cannot get the accolades from certain missions if they do not run them; but you have set a standard for providing alternative ways to earn gear in STO.
With some of the players asking for better rewards for harder content, and who can blame them - harder content and better rewards go hand in hand; I would hope that you would not go the route of providing unique rewards that cannot be earned any other way. It is one thing to have harder solo content and that be a requirement, but it is another for the content to require a group. Some of us take our solo play quite seriously for a myriad of reasons. Heck, could say that it's what I grew up watching on Star Trek. It was the one ship. I'm in my ship. It's Star Trek!
So as I said, it may not be a concern - it probably is not a concern - but if you could please keep in mind how friendly this game is to solo players and continue to keep that friendship in mind as you work toward providing a better gameplay experience for all of your customers, that would be great.
Thank you for your time...
Wow, check that out - it's like...what the OP was trying to say...without all the escaped mental patient aspect going for it!
Why not just hand out everything for free then? There's no incentive here.
There's a big difference between providing alternative ways to earn things and handing them out for free.
It's the way the system currently works.
I can do solo content which rewards me X# marks.
I can do normal team content which rewards me Y# marks.
I can do elite team content which rewards me Z# marks.
Z#, elite team content, is the fastest way to earn the marks. That's an incentive to try to earn them that way. Y#, normal team content, still provides a faster way to earn marks than X#. That's an incentive to try to earn them that way if I do not feel up to participating in Z#.

At this point you guys must be trolling.
You can now continue telling each other how cool you are without my interference.
Probably a wise withdrawal.
