Fun and role play is nice, but the amount of Orion women is staggering lately.

Someone needs to give those players tickets to a pool/beech on a sunny afternoon to get rid of some tension and frustration of the kind i am not allowed to mention here.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I need to be more convinced to take KDF seriously and enjoy playing that faction, otherwise I'll leave it at that. My opinion hasn't changed so far.

Given your complaints, you'll have no better luck taking the Federation seriously.

Just as, I suspect, the opinions of most readers.

I do. He's bald as a green cue ball, and his entire crew wears Orion armor rather than a couple of strategically-placed handkerchiefs.

If you're going to get out in the world you're going to have to embrace new ideas.

Of course one of the most remarkable qualities of the Orions to the fans, and perhaps why they're still of any note in this franchise, is sex appeal but do keep in mind that these women aren't submissive objects existing merely to satisfy your every juvenile fantasy (ie. if this was JUST about what teenage boys want as you are so quick to interpret this as.)

They're part of a matriarchal culture that incorporates sex as a major means of social regulation. And by no means is this unique to popular teenage sci-fi, Ringworld and Dune have their analogs (respectively the City Builders and Honored Matres) and in both cases (and to a lesser degree in star trek) they are directly used as a way to reflect on our established gender roles and intimate social customs.

The icon for that may be mostly naked [green] women in STO, but do try to keep in mind that showing a bit more of the female body does NOT necessarily mean nothing more than pornography. There can be a message, an idea, something else behind the imagry however unsuitable that imagry may be to your sensibilities.

    Don't.

All of us who play KDF are inferior to you, the superior player. Just stay over on the Starfleet side. Yes, we are pretty juvenile & foolish on the KDF side.

Not to mention doing illegal incursions in civilian medical facilities and commiting genocide or taking orders from Section 31.

Most Orions i see are on Drozana Station. They stand at the top of that ramp by the Bank/Exchange consoles showing off to the rest of the bar. It's like some red light street corner there.

And not all Orion toons are half nekkid chicks. Some do wear some armour.

I don't think that they are that deep. Nor were Orions intended to be some sort of social statement.

In the Original Series , they were nothing more than "green animal women" (to appeal to the juvenile males who tended to watch science fiction in the 1960s) and chattel (to hammer home the fact that space could be barbaric, and wasn't all sunshine and rainbows). In the Animated Series, it was the males who were calling the shots.

The comes Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, who had a tendency to toss lore out the window when "Enterprise" was running. These two jacklegs didn't know the franchise's background too well. Or they were trying to reshape it for whatever reason. In any case, it was inconsistency and retcons galore. It was they who re-wrote the Orions into a matriarchy.

Then there is the sex appeal. Some dudes are into dominate women. It can be argued that the Orion females continued to appeal to juvenile sexual fantasies. Just not the same kind as in the 1960's.

So, no. There is no grand social statement behind the Orions. Just sexuality and two numb nuts who couldn't be bothered to do their homework. And weren't capable of anything but shallow writing and ham fisted TRIBBLE.

if you look at all the female toons in this game, the majority are played by guys who give their toons glamour model looks and suggestive clothing. (Holds hand up here!)

Nothing new here and it will continue all the while the character editors allow this. (Orion underwear, figure hugging armour, 7of9 costumes, plus the editor functions etc etc.)

You are correct on everything but the genocide part. Nowhere in the game has the Federation engaged in the systematic extermination of a group, or groups, of people.

Killing in combat, over the course of armed conflict and police actions, isn't genocide. Regardless of the body count.

Going back to play The Secret World. At least the three factions there; Templars, Illuminati and Dragon are far more consistent than the three "factions" in sto.

They even mixed pvp with kdf and fed together, what a joke.

Do you mean a game where they have clothes so skimpy for female than the STO bikini look like a bathsuit ? Were the only time they made a skimpy cloth for male for fun, there was such an outcry it was removed ? Sure it was the borat suit, but when it's skimpy for female, it's fine. When it's skimpy for male, there is an outcry.

There is nothing consistent in TSW. I see people running around with a unicorn head, fiery red eyes and this costume ? Or that one perhaps ? Unless you ask for that one, which is much less skimpy (at least from the face), but twice as ridiculous.

That's costumes you won't see anywhere IRL, except for some really private parties, bedroom and red light district. Yet, in the lore, you are supposed to be a "secret society" :)

Players that want TRIBBLE are pretty much everywhere. And devs give them what they want, because it sells, and most of them are male anyway.

I personally dislike this trend to have skimpy clothes for women (in videogame, I'm fine with that in my bedroom). Especially when it's not really asked for (TSW is about real life warrior, not "fantasy" settings, and in STO you have orion and that's pretty much all). But I don't go saying "my game is better" when it's simply not true.

KDF is a joke. But not really for the reason you state. Agreed its lame to have all these half naked people running around, and it seems if the nakeds had their way, it would be even worse. Thank jebus the bikinis are staying on Risa.
I think KDF is a joke because hardly anyone plays it and Cryptic doesn't care enough to give players incentive to do so. Those that do play it use their toons mostly as farming alts to make all the dils and contraband.

Faction consistency to Star Trek? I thought the OP was complaining about the Feds :)

STO "Federation": Please check all as they apply to providing a genuine Star Trek experience!
[ ] Diplomacy (Nope, not in STO, unless "Diplomacy" comes from the ends of a phaser bank or torpedo tube... or... THALARON BLAST!)
[ ] Uniformity in... UNIFORMS!!! (Starfleet was by far the most uniform in appearance in every iteration of the IP, even JJ Trek, compared to all other groups)
[ ] Missions in the spirit of Star Trek's presentation of Starfleet and the Federaiton as a whole (Umm... you get to murder medical researchers and doctors... umm...)
[ ] Competent Federation & Starfleet Intelligence Services (Undine infiltrators all over the place, and once exposed, the Federation does nothing about it, no investigations... NOTHING)
[ ] Competent Starfleet Command (The collapse of the core of Starfleet's defenses over Earth by a small Undine diversionary force. Also, DS9. Kurland. Shut the hell up)
[X] Useful canon ships (Mixed bag but they are out there that are good for endgame)

FYI, OP, scantily clad Orion Females are canon. But I guess your sensitive self never watched any Star Trek. Matter of fact, I challenge anyone to show me a fully clothed Orion Female from Star Trek. Hell, even the one in ENT's Mirror Universe arc was sporting the bare midriff of the Terran Empire

    BECAUSE BARE MIDRIFFS ARE EVIL!

Seriously, what is it with these naked orion toons everywhere in Qonos? Is this is still a video game? Is the "mighty" klingon empire reduced to some cheap brothel? If it's even a klingon empire anymore.

I don't mind a few here and there for the diversity factor, and also considering the fact that kdf is supposed to represent the most "evil" side of the 3 factions, it nevertheless becomes a less believable experience if every silly teenager boy has to infest the whole game with these toons.

What's worse is that a lot of these players stare at and customize their pixelated green women all day without actually doing much of, let's say, stf's. Which adds up more for the already horrid waiting time on kdf exclusive stf's.

Make a fourth faction, for the Orions, outside of the klingon sphere, and the game actually becomes believable again. Otherwise I just won't take The Empire seriously anymore :)

While I also disagree with all the alien species running on in the 1st city.

I object to your feddy bear brainwashed mentality that the Klingons are evil.

if it was up to me all the other species would be treated in the empire as we treat the romulans. and not allow them T5 Klignon ships make them use their own species ships. if that means the devs have to make a few for the other species fine with me. WHy let a pirate have access to a ship that a allied Reman cant use?

Same with the orions. all these other species need to learn that it is the Klingon Empire not assorted species Empire.

but back the Evil nonsense, where is it written that the Klingons are evil? we are just different. and apparently more accepting of those that are different than some of you feddy bear types.

just remember outside of this game and since Kirks death when the **** hits the fan what Empire is the 1st the Federation runs to for help? borg? dominion?

The differences between each faction in TSW sucks. All you get is a couple of unique missions, unique mission completion dialogue that is sometimes copied, and a few unique costume options. Doing the exact same mission content for each faction is not fun.
