I'm kinda confused. Are people annoyed at their characters being possessed and forced to dance because of these disco balls, or because the screen clutter is unpleasant to look at?
Yes....
There are multiple people, consenuss isn't the same or unified.
For the most part people don't care about the party-amp. Some reasonable people would like a toggle to stop it from effecting their own character's idle animation. But yes, there are some over the top crazies who are obsessed with the item's complete eradication from any appearance in the game's environment.
they should just make a opt out button or disable certain graphics button. DB's don't really bother me, unless they do them 20 times in a row. That said, if nothing else put a 10 minute CD on them that way everyone has their fun.
But yes, there are some over the top crazies who are obsessed with the item's complete eradication from any appearance in the game's environment.
Don't forget the bunch who are on the whole "harassment" bandwagon, but are willing to compromise if given means of harassment they're comfortable with to use against the disco ballers. 'Cause you know, it's only harassment when the other guy does it.
Now, extrapolate that argument to other conditions. This is only a video game emote, but what if we're talking about assault or worse? Suppose the "something" A finds entertaining is torture or murder.
To Boldly dance like a puppet on a string...
To mess up the screen, so you can't see a thing....
Is that what this game has become?
I would like to point out that some individuals and groups are using the "party amplifier"[disco ball] and other devices to flagrantly break some rules in Terms and Conditions that are clearly stated on the site -
15.
f. stalk, threaten or otherwise harass or cause discomfort to another;"
They spam the party amplifier [disco ball] and other devices continuously, to the point where any social gathering or event in a public place becomes unpleasant, the screen becomes just a mess, unpleasant to look at, thereby forcing these events to be moved to "invite only"ships or bases. [This is unfortunate as the limit of players allowed on ships is very small compared to a public area, and bases can not invite different factions, thus limiting the players choice]
Of course, one can and does report, but how many reports are needed before it becomes clear that something needs to be done about this? This has been going on for a year approx....
As it is clear that some of these devices are open to abuse by some, the devs would be wise to address this matter.....
You realize this wouldn't be happening if you, the crazy lady who interrupts her on-air shows to rant conspiracy theories about my fleet at any given opportunity where literally ANYONE, including the uninvolved public who have no connection to us, who does a single thing you do not personally approve of, would quit trying to ERP in public with your "boyfriend" of the week?
My recommendation: Get out of public zones, or seek out therapy for social reallignment and integration.
I seem to recall you and yours having a creative writing contest last time somebody messed with your pixels. You all were quite peeved. Wasn't the winner the one that made a nasty erp'ish story about Branflakes? You were so angry that you also had to reach out and mess with somebody else's pixels in a blind attack of fury and froth.
So not only do you dislike having your images altered, but you even make up nasty little stories to share with each other that would surpass the nastiest of the bios you target.
Good times. The enormity of your hypocrisy amuses me to this day.

There is one called /movementreset
You can bind it to a key if you want.

Personally, I have no problem with them but a client side "opt out" seems to be the most logical solution to me.
I support the Star Trek Battles channel.
If you want to exploit to avoid cooldowns and waste another disco ball by all means go ahead.
Fret not, we'll get there. Someone always goes there, and you and I both know it.
See?

It's been a couple of years now, wish they would add the ignore feature back again, eh?
That is just plain disturbing that you attempt to compare a disco ball in a game to an extremely serious real world crime and violation of rights.
Think of all the nonexistent little pixel avatars!

They took all the good stuff, you think they will give it back XD?
Give it time. It's not child's play adding things like that to the C-store as a monthly-subscription purchase.
No, its not.
And I speak as someone who detests disco balls
Hyperbole is not fair comparison. Period.
I suggest you look up Godwins Law for an example of how hyperbole is an inefficient and counter productive debating technique.
That was acceptable, it would have killed Neelix and Harry Kim !
Forum-ignore function, 50k Zen, now on sale.
Acceptable? Pfft...it would take Janeway out too, I say it's far more "desirable" than simply "acceptable."
Nah, figure it would be more like Dilithium claims. They'd come in a lock box with limited uses.
The next Lock Box...the Forum Lock Box.

Why an Event hosted by a DJ in a public space..... would you not expect to be seeing dancing, or is it that this is a ERP dance party of some sort?
