I don't understand how everyone else seems to get the patch so quickly.
Every single time since season 7, I get the pre-patch a week or so before, and every day after playing the patcher tries to re-download the same thing. I know it checks to see if the files are up to date and if they are it's supposed to shut down. Mine doesn't. It keeps downloading the same files every time I let it.
I started keeping Tribble up to date since "everyone" keeps saying that having it updated makes things go faster. Not for me. Last night I updated Tribble one last time in the hopes that things would go faster today. I got a smallish patch, something under 300mb and crossed my fingers.
I even loaded up Holodeck before going to bed and quickly exited to get the pre-patch one last time. It started downloading the 4855mb patch it tries every other time and I decided to let it go so I'd be "ready" this morning.
Imagine my shock once restarting my computer and loading up the launcher only to find a 4979mb patch ready to go and download. :rolleyes:
So here I am, after an hour and a half of downloading and I'm sitting at 9% finished. I do not have a great download speed on the best of days, on big release days like this, it's even slower due to everyone else hitting up the patch server. I figure I'll be all "patched up" somewhere around my dinner time, at which point I won't be able to play today.
Pre-patching and keeping Tribble updated may work for others, I'm not saying it doesn't. It just doesn't work for me. It's like the launcher knows it needs to get the files, gets them and then forgets where it put them so it has to start from scratch. Every single TIME!
Thank heavens I don't have a download cap, or I would have hit it days ago. I guess that's one of the "advantages" to having a slower download speed.

Now... Yeah... Here I am back on the STO forums... because all those other games sucked...

I think they were Rift APB SWTOR EQ (for the nostalgia, surprizingly it got the most playtime) EQ2, MWO, and World of Warplanes (Warplanes might not have sucked, to be fair. First mission in I said "I want a joystick first, where is my joystick, my kingdom for a joystick!" and said I'd try it again when I got one.)
So only 7... still... that is a ton of space hehe, now I need to get rid of them.

My patching has now completed too. But you can't log in until login server is up.
World of Warplanes (Warplanes might not have sucked, to be fair. First mission in I said "I want a joystick first, where is my joystick, my kingdom for a joystick!" and said I'd try it again when I got one.)
World Of Warplanes sucks, period. Download War Thunder instead.
Their new custom skins mechanic is awesome.

Mine just got reset back to 0% when I was at 94%. So don't get your hopes up too high.
Hah, it was actually only a 30 or so mb patch. The rest of the 4949 mirrored from Tribble, I think.
Already finished mine. Been playing War Thunder while I wait.
