And just slightly lefterish from there is the personal requisitions ground vendor. It's a lot closer than the old run that you had to do from the bank/exchange area to over by the tailor on old ESD.
For now yes, Taco mentioned they'd like to add it but can't at the time. It'll probably come after Club 47.
Forgot to post feedback since I was able to get back on Tribble: Loving the updated shuttlebay! The exchange is great now, and I love how close all the important services are. Looking even better than it did just a few days ago, this is going to be awesome when it's done!
One issue I've noticed is that my framerate in ESD has taken a noticeable hit since three patches ago. I don't have the best specs (can post if needed...but kinda embarassed), but on my normal highish settings only a few areas run poorly: The Dyson battlezone command center and occasionally First City if it's really crowded. Neither of those has the sustained low framerate that ESD currently does for me.
I hope it's just because you guys haven't optimized it as well as it could be yet, but if I have to drop my settings then so be it, the new look and layout is worth it.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

Thanks for looking into it. I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one that can't take more than two steps in the station without graphic card stall city.
I have a question i'm hoping Taco or another environment artist dev can answer
first of all i love the new ESD, and the new shuttlebay *squees!*
but i wanted to ask, i noticed that there seemed to be an elevator like section on the far left of the entrance to the shuttlebay from ESD proper, it's down at the moment, and doesn't allow people to get back up without a beamout, but will that elevator be active for getting into and out of the shuttlebay area itself if people want to?
also i think it'd be awesome for some of the shuttles/runabouts to be available as foundry mission interacts to start a mission
also Taco...y u no show some love for the delta flyer? surely Starfleet has mass produced it by now :P
KDF for Life! Romulan at Heart Fed cause they made me ~ :P

The plan is to wall it off. We won't be able to go down to the shuttle area at all. The little area with the console is as far as we will get and maybe we can overlook it from the upper walkway.
The Delta Flyer has never received an environment version like the Danube, Standard Shuttle, Yellowstone or Workbee. That's why it's not down there.
Hooking up the shuttlebay to the foundry would be a nice touch, as would using it as an exit point for the academy, having it as a transfer point to fleet holdings would be super epic.
Personally, LOVING new ESD!! The new Bank/Mail consoles with icons are super easy to find and not terribly obtrusive (heck, easier to find/identify than the romulan/klingon equivalents). The exchange wasn't as clear, it's almost like their icon is too high.
LOVING running around the shuttlebay. Would be nice to be able to be down there when this goes live, if for no other reason for a sense of scale. Hide a couple bank/mail consoles and an arrival lounge down there for the RPers arriving via shuttle
Just please don't close it all off. I'm still sad that I can't go sit by the tree and look out on the bay in starfleet academy thanks to the invisowalls. I'd be equally sad if I couldn't run and frolic amongst the shuttles.

That would never work because each person would be seeing a different ship. Let's say I was standing directly next to you at that window. We are both in the same instance, but you would be seeing (whatever ship you have), while I am seeing my Mobius. It simply does not work.
I cannot confirm this (yet), but I suspect what we are seeing outside that window is not a screenshot or matte painting. I suspect that if we were to find a way outside that window, we would discover that area is an actual map section, and the ships are actual models. It is essentially like Starfleet Academy. For anyone who remembers that glitch of being able to climb over the fence, the Golden Gate Bridge turned out to be an actual model that we could climb and walk across.
Now there is a glitch I wish I could've seen.
Does this mean that at some point we were going to be able to visit San Francisco? That may be a worthy goal y'know?

The lift (here at work) is now in the up position. It won't be moving up and down, but can be used as a door to "Take a Shuttle to Starfleet Academy."
I'm working with the small craft I have available to me at ground scale. I don't have a delta flyer at ground scale that I can use, so it's not included. Also not sure how many Deltas they'd keep around. I'm sure there would be some, but I expect that there would be far more standard shuttles and runabouts.

That makes sense to me. The Delta Flyer was obviously a pretty specialized design, and best-suited for long-range missions.
ESD would more likely maintain a standard complement of Starfleet workhorses - regular shuttles (though the "default" shuttle in-game is a pretty ancient model, I've no doubt they can have a long lifespan) and runabouts.
It would be nice to get ground-scale models for other shuttles eventually, if not for ESD, then for occasional use elsewhere.

Not sure any artist will answer it, but what are the dimensions of the old/new ESD ?
Will the Space ESD map get an update to reflect the view from Ops ?
This is the second time that someone has posted a link in response to your first question. This pic was posted by Taco on his twitter account.
Also, I believe Taco has also said, somewhere in this very thread, that they will be giving a pass over the external space of ESD, but I don't know if they will be adding all the ships that are in the holographic display in Ops.

I just fell out from ESD at the shuttlebay. One of the hangar force fields doesn't work so you can just simply walk out from the ESD and fall for eternity Luckily you can beam back to your ship

I think they may need a slightly larger "Fleet" of Shuttles for the Cadets training and movement. As shown in the Fed Tutorial, the Second Floor is the Academy Shuttle bay, before You and Elisa Flores do pilot one up to your Miranda class ship.
In the shows, most people at the Helm are Lt or Ensign. Wes being someone who hadn't been though Starfleet Academy also was apparently the Main helm Officer after season 1. ( Lists: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Conn and http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Helmsman Note that a few times where a Senior Officer took over, but they often are in that see for a short time.)
While you can teach people on the Holodeck, I think sometimes you need to actually drive the real things. This is backed up by the fact that TNG- The First Duty mainly about the an inquest in to a shuttle accident. In VOY- Drone, Paris Jokes about the Cadet numbers in to a small shuttle craft, "they used to shoehorn half a dozen cadets into one of these things for weeks at a time," adding, "you did not want to be around when they opened up that airlock." (Paris was talking about the Class 2 Shuttle, which I don't think is in STO.)
ESD being the one of the closest space stations to Earth, I can see it being the place for quite a few shuttles being stored and used. I could see several old shuttles being used for training. The Enterprise in 2285 in TWoK, being 40 years old, was on a Cadet Training Mission.

The "Class 2 Shuttle" is also known as the Type 9. Strangely enough, STO has both the Type 8 (TNG shuttle) and the Type 10 (DS9 shuttle), but not the Type 9 (VOY shuttle). Nor do they have the most modern of the known shuttlecraft, which is the Type 11 (from Star Trek Insurrection). The Type 9 was seen quite frequently in Voyager, yet it's not been added to STO (yet).

Taco, what are the chances the fleet bases will ever get this treatment?
Ops is mostly ok, though I would prefer the newer console types.
But the lower levels are in desperate need of some love (prefered revamp order: DS9, K7, Fleet Base, Starbase 39)
We've made some performance passes today. We'll do a bit more optimizing. Thanks.
Good to hear, I'll let you guys know how it runs for me when there's a new build on Tribble.
Edit: Oh and this off-topic for ESD, but I hope we see similar bank console placements added to First City at some point. There's mail everywhere there, bu you're stuck going to the exchange for banking. It'd be great to have banks closer to the vendors and Great Hall.

I think you quoted the wrong post.
I think he meant to get the one above mine about the stateroom being gone.
I do hope that they can find the time to add a stateroom back in after Season 9 goes live. There are plenty of doors on new ESD.

Most of those doors are the existing Foundry doors.
That said, I think the stateroom, if they add it in later, would be be perfect over the Sickbay acessable by the catwalk.

Link.
For every fleet holding that has unlocked the shuttle service add that transfer point to the shuttle bay.
If I have the embassy/mine/spire shuttle service let me go there.
If my starbase hit t2 give me an upgrade project so I can go directly to my starbase from there.
Sorry, the bulk of the forums I visit the "Quote" button is at the bottom of the post rather then the top as it is here. Old habits...

Space map has already been touched up a bit.
I don't know the exact dimensions off the top of my head, but here's a comparison shot of the two side by side: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3757/13205788533_5248bde449_o.jpg

I think it's fair to assume the shuttlebay we see on ESD could be one of many, many shuttlebays, considering the sheer size of the station.
