I believe captain geko said in his podcast that the war would be increasing, not decreasing. The game is looking to put in more pvp content in the future, including a territory control zone. You can't really have that if you don't have conflicting species. The notion of calling them war games, when your already at war with several different factions, seem stupid. You don't need to practice at war when you're already in several different conflicts.
The war is increasing because there's pvp money to be made. If you have pvp then you need a red and blue side. Cryptic doesn't do anything unless they feel it will make them more money. That's why it's taken them so long to even add any pvp rather then rep grinds. That's why it took them 3 years to add kdf content. Borticus has been working on pvp changes a long time. They're not going to abandon that now.

Well the result of the last FE hinted at the relations getting worst.
But I can only repeat what I stated before in a similar thread:
This can not be stupider.
A 5 year old knows better then that.
2 Nations are either at war or in an alliance not both.
KDF and FED cooperate in the battle group Omega, in the Dyson Sphere at new Romulus, while aiding the Deferi, by repelling the Dominion from DS9 (and in the Cardassian sector in general) and I probably forgot occasions.
Thats something that simply does not HAPPEN during a WAR. NOT AT ALL. NEVER.
Its a sad display of the devs not even getting BASICS on how things work in well.... reality. It can not be more stupid.
Imagine during World War II the US troups invading Germany but cooperating with them while fighting the Russians AT THE VERY SAME TIME. That would not have happened.
The opposite is true: Russia and the US never got along but put differences aside to fight the common enemy. They would not have a war simultaneous.

They can still do both, call PVP wargames or something similar. PVP is still PVP who the hell cares what they call it?
That way everyone is happy, PVE actually starts to make some sense and PVPers get the long overdue and needed revamp. Oh and I guess PWE are happy because they get to nickel and dime people some more.

By the time you get to end-game the war is basically just a cold war. You're no longer actively fighting each other. I think the last klingon battles are in cardassian sectors and are around level 40 missions. After that the conflict with the undine and borg pick up and the need to work together becomes more necessary.
In the game the war is more about end-game pvp. The whole reason to sell new ships full of new gadgets is to make pvp battles more intense. You can do end-game pve in any type of t5 ship with ease. You don't need all the power creep from the c-store ships to win at pve.
With a revamp of pvp and adding territory control zones at end-game you'd see in increase in the conflict. If you have pvp events requiring you to capture systems and planets then the war makes sense. That's the direction cryptic seems to be wanting to go with its pvp.
And Russia and the US did put their differences aside during the cold war to occasionally help each other when the situation demanded it, both directly and indirectly be agreeing with the other's vote in the UN.
They can still do both, call PVP wargames or something similar. PVP is still PVP who the hell cares what they call it?
Like I said above, wargames are stupid when you're already at war with several species. Klingons and feds wouldn't be having wargames against each other to make them better at fighting borg, undine, and iconians.
The problem with the people on the forum is that in one breath they scream immersion and then in another they're willing to throw it away to get what they want. Too many people around here want it their way rather then the right way, and that's why the game is all fugged up.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Yeah, after the treaty between Feds and Klingons the biggest problems between the two factions were cause by outside forces. In TNG's klingon civil war story arc was caused by romulans; in DS9 the changelings were responsible.
In the beginning of STO's storyline I'd be very suspicios either as a klingon or a federation officer: "Hmmm, is it really the klingons or the feds are the cause of the problem or somebody just wants us to fight? Again? Why won't we talk to the other faction?"
Doesn't that say something about the Klingon's attitude to the Federation though? In TOS they were at a cold war level of amenity that was on its way to turning hot. Then with just one actual agent, the Romulans muck it all up in TNG, but we become friends again. And then one changeling then mucks it all up in DS9.
I wouldn't call a friendship very strong if your 'best friend' would turn on you and blame every problem in his life on you, try to steal your stuff, drag you into family arguments, want to fight you (or else he'll look week to his heritage), and nearly all of it instigated by some other friend who doesn't like you or your friendship with him.
It takes so little provocation for the Klingons to spark a war, big or small, against the Federation that I wonder how good we really were as allies.

Not really. You still may need to practice at times, especially if you want to try out new tactics.
Are there new tactics in the game? Do we blow each other up in different ways now?
You're just trying to justify what you want. You're willing to blow off immersion simply because you want what? KDF and feds to do leveling missions together? What's the point of each faction having different missions for the first 30 levels then?
The end-game stuff already lets you team up without needing to get rid of the war, so why get rid of it?
Immersion in STO? *Watches someone fly by in a Tholian ship*
Yeah the immersion in this game went out the window a long time ago.
You just made my point. People start screaming how they want a ferengi ship, a vulcan ship, a gorn ship, whatever. Eventually enough screaming goes out that cryptic makes it, because they want to make money. They're doing this to make money. And immersion gets kicked in the TRIBBLE because of what people talk about wanting on the forum and cryptic trying to accomodate. It's the 25th century and people are screamfing for 22nd century ships. The players have a double standard.

I actually don't care one way or another about PvP, but I just think your argument for having to keep the war going because of PvP is a bit unimaginative. :P
Nothing about PvP being in a game requires two sides to be at war. Or hell, even requires sides.
Also, nothing about stopping the war means that two sides needs to have the exact same leveling experience while leveling.
Well, once the Undine infiltrators are all discovered and killed/incarcerated/whatever, yes. Although by now, shouldn't the Undine infiltrators themselves have learned that they were being played by the Iconians and be more likely to feel enmity toward the Iconians than toward anyone else, prompting the Undines to recall their infiltrators and focus on their actual enemy? Either way, the war between the UFP and the Klingon Empire is no longer justified.
Why would the Undine want to recall their infiltrators, when they could continue to manipulate the Feds and Klinks to get the Iconians to reveal themselves, and then the Undine could move in and destroy the Iconians (somehow), along with the weakened Feds, Klinks, and Roms. Then use all that Iconian tech. to defeat the Borg, Dominion, and anything else that could possibly stand in their way until they rule the entire UNIVERSE!!!!
Then with all those resources, tech. and stuff, they could expand into alternate universes, dimensions, times, etc. until they rule EVERYTHING!!!!!
Ok, in all seriousness, the war is getting kind of silly at this point. We should have the Feds and Klinks either go back to fighting, or having a peace treaty to end this madness before the Undine conquer us all. Though, such an action could be a hint to the Undine reforming the Feds, KDF, and Roms to build them into a cannon-fodder to the Iconians...
Winning.
It's what I do. It's what I just did. It's what I'm about to do again. It's being undisputed emperor of an empire that cannot be disproved as the most powerful intergalactic empire in the entire universe; I always win, and everything I've won will definitely be won again... by me. It's my signature move, and thus, it's my signature. Problem, Sonic? Yeah, I mean you, Sonic, because you're being beat up, despite your being super. You can't even hit Shadow back, can you? Nope, he's too strong for you. Of course, I'm not Shadow, I'm the Super Emerald fueled fox that's pulling the strings; trust me, the fight would only be a few frames long if I were in it personally. Oh, and here's something for all you guys thinking you can win Last Post Wins 3.0; trust me, I'll be around a long while after the sun has already consumed the Earth while I sit out with the forum servers on Titan. Yes, I mean Titan... that comparatively little moon orbiting Saturn. It's a nice little place in a version of our solar system where the sun is a lot bigger. I mean, Mars will last longer than your precious Earth, but by then, it'll be one hot planet... and I figure Saturn's moon will be about the right temperate for a super-powered warlord. Oh, and trust me, I packed a lot of rings, and I mean a lot. Trillions, in fact, so I'll never run out of rings to power my super form. Besides, if I start to run out, I can just chaos control more rings into my reach. It's quite easy, really. You should try it. Granted, you'll never have the 7 Super Emeralds that I have in my possession, nor the Master Emerald that I've got hidden away somewhere... absorbed into my body thanks to Sonic logic, but whatever. I win. Again. I'm not kidding, either. Just check Last Post Wins, and if the last post isn't mine, it soon will be. Very, very soon. You can count on it. Seriously. By the way, if you're wondering, there's a really great Super Tails sprite sheet out there... somewhere... by some guy named shadow_91. These sprites are really great. Like, really good. Quality. Just like what I like to see in a sprite sheet. Also, credit to Joe T.E., his Sonic Battle style Super Sonic sprites have a great palette for a Super Sonic being beat up by Super Shadow, who's palette is from a Super Shadow sheet of unknown origin, but it turns out they were "borrowed" from a better sheet made by a certain Domenico. Oh, and the gif is actually a custom made super version of a similar gif, of which there are only 3 or 4 copies to be found by Google, and even then, evidently of an unknown source. Yep, it's one of those things. Stuff people have made, spread around, only for it to vanish and you to be the only person who still has a copy, not even knowing where it came from... like, literally at all. Oh, and anyone notice that Shadow's little chaos snap blast thingies are red and blue now? Yeah, I changed it. Problem, fans of purple? Yeah, I know you got a problem with that one, but you can just deal with it. After all, according to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly... alright, alright, I'll spare you the entire Bee Movie script, just Google it if you want. By the way, ever wonder how your characters would've ended up if they evolved in another universe? Yeah, that. Think about it. Ok, so you probably didn't bother reading up to here, but whatever, here's a surprise for you guys over at ESD (RP) who were crazy enough to read this: Emperor Nat of the mcfreakin' Terran Empire is gonna be right all along! The universe is gonna go BOOM! *Thumbs up to the insanity*
Oh, now don't tell me you want in on all this! Well, ok. Look this that Egg Pawn hanging outside your window, pointing his laser rifle at you, waiting for my next order. He's doing his part. He helps conquer the weak-minded. He roboticizes the weak-bodied. Heck, he even helps keep the useless people from causing any trouble, but you know what? Join. Find the closest Nataran Empire roboticization center near you and join the ranks, before the ranks find you. Oh, I know, you figure it must be so satisfying to know I basically rule the world now, and you know what? It is, but do you want to know the true definition of satisfaction? Well, let me tell you a little story. One day, you see a brand new event. They're giving out boxes that give old event stuff. Your dilithium is plentiful. You buy a whole lot of Phoenix packs on your main, and open them all. You get one epic token. Then, you decide, that since you have all the Breen ships and don't give a damn about the others, you exchange it for an ultra rare, and grab yourself a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship and for the hell of it, a Voth Bulwark. You open both, leaving the Bulwark in your vast masses of starships as you jump into the bugship and deck it out, deck by deck, into the most awesome Jem'Hadar ship you can. You fly it. You enjoy it. Eventually, you get bored and leave, leaving the old Bulwark never flown... until later. Your main is long complete. Your new alt main, based off some character you pulled out of nothing just to explain away some starship being in service without the command of your dear admiral, is also complete. Mostly. Their reps and doffs are hard at work, getting you stuff. You realize the potential, and head back for your dear admiral, pull the most Voth themed build you can out of thin air, and suit up in your giant ship in the shape of you know what. You head out... and cause all sorts of havoc. Enemies scream out your name as their very life is drained away by your swarms of Aceton Assimilators. They complain to the devs of your OPness when you revive yourself from death every time you die. Do you show any form of mercy? No. After all, this isn't the United Federation of Planets, this is mother frakkin' Starfleet, where you explore strange new worlds and kick butt never kicked before. Oh, and you realize that I just wrote another speech rivaling your own signature. Cool. Oh, wait, that's just the original draft, it is part of my signature now. Oh, and yes, I am aware that I have become a Canadian Regent; one day, sooner than you'd expect, we'll suddenly decide to take over the world and declare an "alliance", and I shall become it's Regent. You know, like the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance in the mirror universe of our beloved Star Trek. Oh, who'll we be taking over with? I dunno, maybe [REDACTED], or maybe aliens from outer space. Guess you'll have to wait and find out, won't we? Until then, don't ask too many questions, or else my Breen allies on Titania might pick up on your -- [REDACTED BY BREEN CONFEDERACY FOR REASONS] Also, psst... keep an eye out for flying Tribbles! Also walls. Big, great walls, separating entire continents apart. Walls patrolled by Tribbles. Flying Tribbles. Flying Nukara Tribbles. Don't worry, it's not like they were on Venus with a herd of Tholians or anything, they just like the extreme heat and brutal weather like acid rain and hurricane force winds as the norm. Oh, and definitely keep your eye out on any two-tailed foxes, because if they ain't glowing, they're definitely an imposter. Possibly an Undine, we caught one of those once in my place once. Oh, and if you find a two-tailed fox that doesn't like the cold... most certainly ask him to say sorry. If he refuses, DESTROY HIM WITH A DOOMSDAY MACHINE, BECAUSE THERE'S NOTHING ELSE THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH AGAINST SUCH AN OVERPOWERED IMPOSTER!
tr;dr, I am winning last post wins 3.0. Thank you for your time.
Nothing about PvP being in a game requires two sides to be at war. Or hell, even requires sides.
And there's no reason to change what is established sto canon simply because a small group of people want what? I'm still waiting for the answer? What will removing the war change in the game other then allowing cross faction teaming at lower levels? How will it make the game better?
The game needs more end-game raids and mission content. Not a rewrite to alter a war that caters to the pvp players.
You just made my point. People start screaming how they want a ferengi ship, a vulcan ship, a gorn ship, whatever. You can see why people are saying ditch the war thing though, in 4 years nothing has happened really apart from a couple of smaller skirmishes and raids and B'vat getting delusions of grandeur. That and they keep pushing the KDF and Starfleet closer together at every turn.
The whole RR thing complicates things as well, they should finish making them a faction, it wouldn't take much and switch to a three way war. It would make things more interesting.
They either need to make the war (and thus PVP) actually mean something or ditch it. They can even include both PVE and PVP in making it actually meaningful with zone control and such. Hell SWG managed it and if they could then STO sure can.
Tl;DR Do something with the war , don't just leave it (and the players) hanging in perpetual limbo for ever more.
I am so sick of the limited content available for my klingon characters because the que's are empty most of the time
Plz End the war !
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

You do realize that ending the war at level 50 doesn't mean they need to change anything at lower level, correct?

The klingons have the same end-game content the federation players have. If no one's pvping maybe it's because they don't want to pvp. Removing the war doesn't add more things for your klingon to do. It makes less things.
Pretending to pretend to be at war is not immersion.
This makes no sense.
Having neither faction at war, you have PvP being war games. That is, if you need something that fits Star Trek lore for there to be PvP without the war. This is no different than same faction PvP now.

Actually right now at ENDGAME is the only time where the war is active. Since the only reason for the war was having 2 opposite PVP factions, and last time I checked the pvp q while leveling they were empty at lower levels.
The missions were never the prime factor of the war.
And the PVP does not need a story background.... hell we have literally the same battles FvF.
And a "cold war" isn't really a war.
A WAR involves people shooting/killing each other. It is a generally very very ugly thing, nothing to appreciate about that in reality..
A cold war is essentially an industrial race, not nice but by all means not half as bad.
But ultimately thats my point, in a real war you do not cooperate on occasion.

The war doesn't just involve PvP though it should be a large aspect of it. The KDF has missions to raid utopia planitia which is pretty war like no? Same for the Federation side the early missions revolve around the war. In both cases it just kind of fizzles out though by level 30.

Against the Undine, and Iconian puppets.
All I've seen is low intensity combat by what appears to be splinter-factions (such as B'vat's renegades).

The game needs more end-game raids and mission content. Not a rewrite to alter a war that caters to the pvp players.
Pretending to pretend to be at war is not immersion.
Plz End the war !
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
And nothing, I just think the argument that the war needs to stick around because of PvP to be rather unimaginative.
