Honestly, this is the worst and most boring event ever. I... I cant even blame the leechers. Its just that bad.
I have to disagree...imho, it's the best event they've done - it's the best team mission they've done. It would be nifty if the current events could receive this kind of touch up. If folks want mindless 2-5 minute games, their phones - tablets - Facebook are out there waiting for them...
This might be something I do every once in awhile, but I doubt I will do it enough times to complete the event project on any character. If it was the old mirror event I would but this one takes longer and get frustrating when ships keep shooting you just before you finish closing a rift.
Someone in the "rewards" department have a strange sense of humor. I can't complain about it not being a Romulan reward, and I can't exactly complain about hating Hakeev, for it is sort of not him. BUT... this guy could cause a mutiny or something, if he comes with a strong personality.
Think of the safety of the crew next time!!! And we shall try to follow the "be careful what you ask for" rule, more closely! :P

Just like the limited Crystalline they did before bringing it back, there's little reason to run this on Elite...just run the regular one.
Should be easy to finish off the Cruisers, Science, and Frigates...if you don't shoot the Typhoons, they don't shoot you (you could close an Expanding with 9001 Typhoons sitting there watching you do it).
Four players could cover the four quarters of the map in RA Star Cruisers while the fifth player ran around in a Shuttle singing a song...

Well remember, it's Mirror Hakeev. Your biggest danger is the risk of a diplomatic incident when he runs into Obisek and tries to give him a hug to get him to chill out.
DAT MOMENT in Mirror Invasion when there are the likes of 3 Excelsiors, a Mogh and a Scimitar sitting on our butts staring at eachother waiting for the timer to actually finish.

That's something they could definitely address. If everything's done and folks are just waiting for the Dread...well, there shouldn't be enough time for folks to doze off.
Ran this twice, once last night and once this morning. (Too soon for a second transporter) Deinos destroyer. First time I went in and was trying to destroy ships and left the work to any science ships or cruisers. I was overwhelmed alot and died alot. Ended with 42 marks 480 dilithium. (Regular play)
Second time I skipped the intro and edged to a power relay. As soon as the intro timer ended I powered it up and then went around concentrating on the relays and closing gates. Died about once. Kept the groups small, and did not even see the dreadnaught till he was ready to die as I was working gates. Ended with 58 marks 480 dilithium. (Regular play)
I was not bored and I am very happy to see the choice of marks in a mission like this as I find it hard to get fleet marks KDF side.
Ships seen. Kirk and Sulu.

Well, Still a lot of noobs running around even in normal. Its definitely a scenario conducive to the right ship build and the right strategy.
Been running around in a Voth Bulwark running attract fire command. Let everone else close the rifts and sweep up anything that gets through to the station. The station and my fighters slaughter the small ships and I sit there rolling through engineering abilities on mself and the station while 6 to 12 ships try and make a dent in me and ignore the station... only have problems if the noobs don't close the rifts and I end up with a half dozen typhoons...:D
One of the builds I'm having fun with is my Fleet ARV bunching up all the ships by the rifts with a GW, then blinding them with that elachi subspace thingy to give me time to actually close the rift.
Works best for the ones that have aged a bit....for the younger ones, GW the furthest ship, then retreat to max range to close the rift. The enemies are usually out of range dealing with a black hole.
This isn't technically a problem with the mission itself, but nearly all Mirror Universe ships are still mislabeled. Sovereign-class ships are labeled Noble-class, Emissary-class ships are labeled Sentinel-class, etc.
The only dreadnoughts I've encountered so far are I.S.S. London (twice) and I.S.S. Venture. All Galaxy-X class.

I gave up on trying to run Elite and settled myself in the Normal run and it's quite relaxing, but at the same time, still fun! Taking my MVAE (I really should upgrade to a Fleet version. I got everything I need to do so) and just GW I a bunch, hit APB, Cannon Spread, Torpedo Spread and let it fly. Watching those Mirandas pop is so much fun. I just need a little more power and even the Typhoon will melt just as fast.
For me its to grindy for one reason only. It just takes to long. I do enjoy the mission. No matter what you do this thing is just plain frustrating. I like the cust scenes and running a few times is fine for the pleasure of the mission. But no matter how you slice it is is just to long. Some groups are really bad. Player don't know what to do. I gues I am losing patience with these kinds of evetns. Kudos to those who will play through for the rewards. I just do have that kind of time. I like games I can pick up and put down. STO is a great game butthe commitment for these events to have to play everyday for me is to much. I hope other are enjoying this!
The new mirror is terribad. Talk about your standard Asian grind fest mission. No thanks... Ran it once and you couldn't pay me to do it again.
All that will happen if lots of people get together in groups of friends to play that mission... is they will talk about how much they hate STO... and likely all agree on another game to play. Good job Cryptic. lol
So Cryptic at least pretended to try and make sci and cruisers useful in the new MU event with a 'bonus' to closing times.
But, as anyone who has played for more than 5 minutes will realise, 2 seconds quicker to close a rift, means nothing, when a tac can destroy the whole wave 30 seconds quicker.
So once again it is just a straight DPS run.
Destroy waves, close rifts. Sci can just tag along and pretend they matter.
And yes yes, i know there are some uber 10k hours played sci ships that can do some damage, but we are talking averages here. Average players, average ships.
Or you can even argue your 5 hour tac ship can beat that 10k hour sci ship, but this isn't the time.
So, to make sci and cruiser ships useful here, lets give them an ACTUAL advantage.
Instead of 2 seconds quicker, how about they get a PASSIVE close rift/repair generator.
As in, if the ship is within 5k/10k of the rift, it automatically starts to close.
This way sci/cruiser can be helping and get it done as quick as a tac torp spread/scatter shot does.
I ran it a while ago with a premade, 3 of us were Science Vessels (2 Vestas and me with my Fleet DSSV), and 2 Escorts (MVAM and Daeinos). The MVAM Escorted me, the Daeinos escorted 1 of the Vestas, and 1 Vesta went around activating the relays.
This was pre-planned before we began, and it worked EXTREMELY well. I'd let the MVAM pull aggro, and once I was safe from pulling aggro I used Grav Well 3 on the mobs that spanwed from the rifts and quickly proceeded to close them, while the MVAM spammed FaW (It used AP DBBs). Once I was done with the rift I helped mop up any stragglers.
We finished with around 34 or so rifts closed, station at 100% health, defenses at Tier 5, which gave us a total of 75 marks.
This mission is by far the best one for quick acquisition of Romulan Marks. I love it, I get to be useful in it and dat Obisek voice.
Sorry, i was using hours, as if I had said, a c-store paid sci ship, people would nit pick and say they didn't pay a cent, they just refined enough dil to buy them.
Which of course takes a very long time to refine enough dil to exchange for zen to buy a c-store ship.
Whereas a tac can do it with a lot less elite gear/rep bonus/c-store items.
But otherwise, passive closing is a good idea yeah?
In a word...yes. No to the 14 day event..regardless of reward. The encounter itself is decent on a effort vs reward ratio.
Words cannot describe how much I hate these multiple week, all or nothing grinds. Twice a year at best but not every other month. I feel compelled to do them on at least some of my toons but I just push through so I can have fun again. Quit trying to get me to stop playing STO Cryptic I give you money, respect my time
It's long. I mean, compared to the old one, really long.
Yeah, I 'only' have 6 toons and it takes me 2hrs to get them through it. So that's gonna be 28hrs total to get the payout. Really wish I'd only made 1 toon! I'd have so much more time when these events run!
.

Or at least, make the closing progress bar uninterruptable. I'll take my Oddy and finally kill off that last stupid cruiser and almost get the rift closed and some annoying Mirandas pop out and tag me 1/2 a second before I close the rift.

This are my thoughts exactly. The fact that the closing/activation bar is interrupted by every tag makes the whole thing obsolete. Yes, I am a tank and I can tank a rift for someone else to close it/activate the relay - yet, I AM the cruiser which is supposed to activate the relay, which I cannot do since I can't kill the mobs fast enough *sigh*
Yeah, pre group content and all, but.. meh.
At least elite IS a challenge. Normal is TRIBBLE eay and pug friendly All elite pugs I ran (only 5 or so) failed and only got the normal rewards anyway.
EDIT: Oh, and the station's "Plasma Lance" is not nearly as impressive as Obisek thinks it is. "EVERYONE! AM A FAHRING MA LAZ0R! WAIT FOR IT!!! THREE... TWO.... OOOOONE!!!" - *zap* ........... *golf clap*

I'd rather do this than answer trivia questions or chase Q around san francisco.
Which leads me to ask, has Cryptic made an internal decision to make the game more difficult for players with multiple alts?
As for the mission itself, i like the idea that cruisers and science ships have a bonus to closing and powering things.
However, I'm not sure they've made the difference enough.
You wouldnt want to go crazy, but I'm thinking that 25%-50% quicker will make that difference more noticeable.
As things stand, I'm coming around to the idea that the ebst strategy is to use a high DPS escort regardless.
Killing things faster is much, much more useful than powering or closing thigns faster.
Think of the safety of the crew next time!!! And we shall try to follow the "be careful what you ask for" rule, more closely! :P
