Okay, just finished my first run though of the new MU event. My thoughts thus far. Feel free to chime in with your own opinions.
- + The Expertise payout is roughly similar to what you might get on the old MU event for a single run. That is to say, I recall getting between 10-15k on a run on the old one, whereas I got 10k expertise for this one. With that sort of Expertise payout, it pisses all over any other PvE queue in the game and any mission replay reward in terms of Expertise. And it means I can play the game and earn the expertise I need without resorting to Doffing and slipping into a coma.
- + The marks are pretty fair for an elite run. Bearing in mind I have no idea if we actually did well or not, but 66 Marks is not to be frowned upon.
- + It only has a 25 minute cooldown, unlike other Elite level PvE queues.
- + It's fun.
- + DAT KIRK.
That being said;
- - It's long. I mean, compared to the old one, really long. I can already say for certain that not all of my toons will get Mirror Hakeev, as i'm not going to do this nine times a day for the next two weeks. That being said, my main, main Rom and my alt Fed (who needs expertise anyway) probably will.
- - Depsite what was said, it's clearly geared toward DPS. Destroying ships makes the mission objective progress faster, so the quicker you can kill ships, the quicker you can complete the mission.
- - You can't skip the final rifts. You have to close them all or the Dreadnought just sits there at 0% health until you do.
- - It's not going to be around after three weeks, which makes me sad.
- - It has a 25 minute cooldown, compared to the old one's zero minute cooldown.
- - The station's "Plasma Lance" uses the Phaser Lance FX. What gives?
- - No Mirror Odyssey. I was disappoint.
- - Dilithium rewards for Elite are only 480. While it's less of a big deal, I think - for an Elite level map - 960 would be more appropriate.
- - It has an instance-breaking bug.
All in all, excellent work all round, now leave it in the damn game.

There's a certain amount of 'what do I do next' occuring at the moment.
I've run it once, and it seems good to me.
I do appreciate the fact that different ship roles get to do different things more effectively.
VO work is fun too.
I will say though, that it would be nice to have an alt-friendly event once in a while.
Most of my matches have spent 3-4 minutes sitting waiting for the clock to wind down, with the fully powered up station defenses, closing the odd rift when they open.
And just broke the mission. Closed the last dread portal while the dread was in a portal, so now it can't come back and we can't kill it.
Update: Sat in the mission for 5 minutes after the bonus timer ran out. Finally said TRIBBLE it, and just had to leave. yay now i get to do the too long mission again on that char
I used it to grind expertise for reputation gear.
Perhaps the biggest flaw in the new mission is the 3d placement of enemies. Should be okey...... IF our ships could actually go UP or DOWN.
Psst Cryptic. They cant. They can only go upwards in a derpy spiral pattern.
I've only seen a mirror oddy, on 5 runs thus far.
Second I did this with my science officer in a Vesta. My Vesta is not in the best shape at the moment - so this is not a DPS king like other Vestas. I sucked. The rift closing is simply a DPS race - there is no way to close the rifts without killing all ships at the area. Despite the introducing video a decent escort seems better than a science ship for this task - which is disappointing a little bit.
Anyway this is a decent mission and I'm sure we will finish it much-much faster in a few days when tactics will spread across the board.
Thanks!

Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
marks are based on overall performance which i like.
really dont know how people can its say really long though. the mission takes about 15 minutes. first stage is 11 minutes. next is i think 4. its certainly longer than the old one but its pretty reasonable.
found one bug. the dreadnought can get taken by tractor mines which slows the final section to a crawl as its untargetable while its snared.
TOO BAD IT'S GOING AWAY THOUGH, AMIRITE?
The name is random, actually. I had the I.S.S. Kirk on my first run, but it was the I.S.S. London on the run I just finished.
Anyway, run the Elite twice more, once as my Sci Main in the Dyson ship and once as my Rom Eng in a Fleet D'D. Fed Sci went well, topped out at 68 Marks.
Rom Eng's game, less so. It seems the memo about closing rifts didn't get passed around to my group, so before long there were literally dozens and dozens of Terran ships - including at least six or seven Typhoons - spamming the station. Suffice to say, it lost all it's health, repaired itself and in the space of about ten seconds it was at zero health again.
My other beef is with that repulsor wave thingy. You can be minding your own business, closing rifts far from the station and then BOOM! A MILLION SHIPS ARE RIGHT NEXT TO YOU.
You're so right, you're left.
I did the elite, died 5 times in my little T'varo thanks to the mirror ship Sisko.
Took about fifteen minutes, seemed like longer because I died.
Still took 60 marks if I remember correctly.
That was fun. Can we do the project more than once?:P Cause I think I'll have it done in a couple of days at most.
Well I say its a bit long because its part of a "run this 14 times event".
Since it can't take LESS than around 13-15 minutes that's 3 to 3.5 hours per character just running the event to get the reward. That's not particularly short especially if you have more than one char. At least CE runs taking 5-10 minutes were a bit more managable.
The project can't be done quicker than 14 days (well, slightly quicker due to the way the game timers work), but there is a secondary project you can do afterwards
It's an alt thing.
Assuming 15 minutes, you're looking for ten alts at around 150 minutes a day.
I have 13, so its 195 minutes a day for two weeks. In a 3 week window.
Recent events have really not been alt friendly.
You get one per day, and you need fourteen. So you won't have it done "in a couple of days art most." You'll have it done "in two weeks at the very least".
No, but you'll only get one of those reward things a day (or every 20 hours etc) it will take you 14 days unless you get very lucky with how the times runs then you can shave a day or two off.
after the big project is done, a smaller one per day will open up.
The Event was fun IMO, if a bit long.
Also, next mirror ship: Mirror universe Galaxy Dreadnought........PLEASE!!!!!

Warning! Contains Spoilers!
playing normal you can get 2-3 typhoons in one rift if left unchecked long enough, i would imagine its a lot more uglier with elite difficulty as well as the accumulation on other mirror vessels elsewhere.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Would like this mission to stick around though.
I'm not sure you can really balance events like this on the assumption that people will have more than a couple of Alts. I mean I'm sure you recognise that 13 Alts is... excessive compared to the average?
My guess as to the limited time of the event is due to them testing the waters with the revamp. The same thing occurred when they brought back Crystalline Catastrophe shortly before Legacy of Romulus launched. They removed it from the Queue for a few weeks until the expansion launched, where they added it back to the Queue with an Elite and Normal version.
If they see that the event does well, then we'll probably get it returned to the queue when Season 9 launches, complete with a choice of marks like we got with Crystalline Catastrophe.
