Its probably too late for them to mess around too much with the kit setups, however the far more imporant issue is the Fleet Kits have only one module!
We would have to pay 60,000FC and upwards of 11,900Dil for a Fleet Kit Frame and ONE module, the currently available kits on holodeck have five powers for that price!
When are we going to see the changes mentioned by Bortus;
I'm popping in to provide an update, and to answer a few concerns.
Fleet Kit Trade-In
Our goal is for the Kits + Modules that players will obtain via this Trade-In to exactly match what they currently have, in terms of powers and slotting options. This will probably mean that they all turn into 4/1 Kits, and that they will be pre-loaded with all of the existing powers you currently have.
We are talking a MASSIVE price increase to recreate a fleet kit without a comparable trade in or comparable gear when buying a new one.

fleet kits are my biggest concern... as far as wasting my time, effort and money
but then I realize that it doesn't actually matter since kits don't really have any bearing on getting thru the content. I can grind just as easily with the kits I have now so in reality I just don't care.
Since they are changing the rep system, I wont be doing much more grinding anyway.
They've added the original modules to the trade in kits like they promised... traded mine in last night and was very pleased... big thanks to the devs for that
I took a look at the changes on Tribble. Here is an update.
1. The fleet kit trade-ins now list 5 abilities, so I think this addresses previous concerns that the trade-ins came with only one kit module.
2. I agree with other posters that the new prices are a bit steep. Basically, Cryptic split the fleet credit and dilithium cost of an old kit between the new kit and its corresponding kit module. Granted, the new kit comes with skill bonuses that we didn't have before. But keep in mind that the only kit modules we can purchase correspond to the old "rank IV" abilities; the old "rank III" abilities are not available from the fleet stores. I think that one new kit and one new kit module should not cost as much as an old kit.
3. The trade-in for "Romulan Tactical Kit Mk XII" is 2 Assault / 2 Strategic / 1 Tactical. The version of "Romulan Tactical Kit Mk XII" that you can buy is 4 Assault / 1 Tactical. I don't know if this is intended or not. I did not see a difference between the engineering kit trade-ins and the versions you can buy.
4. Please separate the kits and kit modules in the fleet stores into different tabs.
5. You can now purchase Mk IX blue kit modules from the dilithium store. This is a good change. But the dilithium store still has no kits, and the EC vendors still have no kit modules.
The Mk# restrictions always seemed a little inconsistent to me, as you sometimes get gear that usually is restricted to the next higher rank. Can be quite confusing. Just saying.

I traded in two fleet kits: "Spire Engineering Kit - Bunker Fabrication Mk XII" and "Romulan Engineering Kit - Fabrication Specialist Mk XII". This is what I received in return.
Spire Prototype Engineering Kit Mk II
1 ultra rare Mk XII kit module
3 very rare Mk XII kit modules
1 uncommon Mk XII kit module
Romulan Engineering Kit Mk XII
1 ultra rare Mk XII kit module
3 rare Mk XI kit modules
1 uncommon Mk XI kit module
I suspect that "Romulan Engineering Kit Mk XII" was incorrectly given the rare and uncommon Mk XI kit modules for "Romulan Engineering Kit Mk XI".
I've had some friends on tribble tell me that they have been unable to trade in Fleet Kits due to the Fleet Kit Trade In tab not showing for them when they speak to the vendor. They have the tab to buy the kits but not the tab to trade. I told them to put in bug reports for the issue, I tried to replicate the bug with my other toons but was unable to replicate the problem.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I was talking to a fleet mate about the Spire kit trade-ins and realised that they are actually not rewarding very fairly.
When I traded in my two fleet spire engineer kits, I received the following modules (between the two kits, not all on one kit);
Mk XII Ultra Rare;
Chroniton Mine Barrier,
Shield Generator.
Mk XII Very Rare;
Transphasic Bomb,
Beam Turret,
Medical Generator,
Force Field Dome,
Fuse Armour,
Weapons Malfunction.
MK XII Uncommon;
Quantum Mortar,
Shield Recharge.
The two Mk XII Ultra Rare modules were in place of the old level IV powers, the Uncommons replace the additional level II powers, and the Very Rares replace the level III powers.
Now the problem I have with this, is that MK XII modules aren't available anywhere in the game for players to purchase. Other than the Mk XII Ultra Rare fleet modules (which are only for a few select powers).
So all 6 of the Mk XII Very Rare modules that people can get by trading in old spire kits, are now better than anything anybody who didn't already have those kits can get... The Mk XII Uncommon modules however are still outperformed by their Mk XI Very Rare counterparts.
Really, we now need a way to obtain all of these modules at Mk XII Very Rare somewhere in the game. Be it from the Dil store, crafting, or drops at the very least.
