What about me? I got freebies 3 days out of 3, no complaints here.
'Course I didn't complain about the 5-day giveaway after last summer's Lohlunat festival either, and there were about 3 items over the week that I already had, including having already bought the Yellowstone. -shrug- Having already bought a couple of things didn't make the others any less free.
Not too shabby. The fed side ship and console are pretty much useless I think, but kdf side the bio-neural is very nice freebie. It's interesting device to put into aft weapon slot for a ship. I play fed side romulan though, so both second and third day were kind of miss for me - but so it goes.
I feel bad for enjoying all the crying. But then again, I have and am playing other games, where you dont get any free ****, and if you do its something not really usefull. (More of a trophy).

Let me compare with another game which also gave "free" stuff. World of Tanks, it required you to get 100k xp on 7 factions. And you get from 200-3k xp per battle depending on luck. For that you got an single 60$ tank. I know alot of friends used more than 8 hours each day to get half the xp needed. Worst case scenario for WoT 700000/500 = Thats 14000 battles, all of which take up to 15min.
Let me bring this to STO. We are required to run a new cool story mission 3 times. and each time we get good stuff. And then we have to do 5min "grind" each day for 15 days. And for that we get a ship that would be around 2000 zen (around 20$?). I like this grind far more. Not saying that I dont feel for the people who are weekend warriors and may have to skip the ship. But it would have been the same in WoT.
And we can get this ship 3 times. With far less time investment.
Thank you for being honest with me about the coming ships, that means I can actually chose if I want to get the free one, and later a paid one.

I read about the rank requirements however I'm just wondering, I just got out of Phaser training before leaving for work so I'm still in the academy lol, it is possible for me to grab these ships now for free so that they are available for my characters to use once they reach these ranks?

You better get to Level 10 faaast. Once you have, you can get them.
On the one hand, I won't be making use of todays give away on my existing characters. On the other, During/straight after the anniversary I'll be making a few new characters (I'm hoping for a tasty sale on... Just about anything, but char slots especially), and they'll come in very handy then (Especially on my forthcoming KDF Officer, who now has both this ship and the free B'Rotlh to play with).
Approximately how many game hours would that take please?
Level 10 takes barely any time at all. I think it took my last character less than four hours, just following the plot, and possibly a lot less than that.

Cool it's my day off tomorrow and I'm going to devote the whole day to the game so depending on the time difference between GMT and PST I might just scrape level 10 before the offer expires.
I'm am work bah (work nights) but believe me I've been itching to play the game properly ever since a friend mentioned it to me on Monday.

Seriously? aw TRIBBLE 14:00 is when I get up, well that screwed that then, I'll have to pass on these ones, I still got the Horta and the bridge packs though so at least Iv'e got something to use once I work out how to use them

Dont Sweat you dont have to grind on the first day, you have time , event starts tomorrow last 25 days and you need 15 to get Ship for free (do mission once, and then 15 x 5min promotional minimision)
Iw leveld new rom to 10 in total 4h, while watching cutsceens , chating, TV lol so its not that hard
Got 'em both, but my boys don't so they can definitely use the Gladius for the console.

Sorry, but the freebies can't be tailored to specific players wants and needs, it is luck of the draw. In the Summer event I was only able to claim one of the five. I didn't complain, it was a case of ohh well nevermind. Be grateful that they have done this, they didn't have to, but they have. Think of it this way. You may not of gained anything, but you certainly haven't lost anything either.
Can you imagine it. A person buys a lottery ticket every single week of every year, has done since they can remember, but has never won the jackpot. It would be hilarious if they got onto that companies website saying "I am a player who supports you, have purchased a ticket every single week, but you haven't let my numbers come up as the jackpot, I do not feel your appreciation". Like with them and the freebies here it is luck of the draw.

I think Cryptic just PR to attract more players, but they dont care about bugs or their tech support is not competent (or it does not exist here, there are other profitable projects).
How else to explain that some type bugs (Khitomer Vortex for example) are not corrected for half a year, or invisible appearance menu (they just don't know what's wrong as they said).
And they dont care about veterans for this reason too.
My only complaint is there used to be a web store where you could claim account wide unlocks regardless of a character's level. I have other accounts with low level toons that can't claim these ships. Not sure I have time to level them up. Oh well, thanks anyway Cryptic.
Thanks Cryptic, 4 out of the 5 items were items I didn't own (had already bought Defiant bridges), and these 2 ships were on my list of things to buy (specifically for the equipment).
