It does indeed look like a simple rollback. And now they can also use the uni console to double stack APA and buffs for a short while. The time of FAW Scimis has begun!

So there was a fun brawl in Kerrat until the server crashed again. As expected, BFAW made its return in a big way. A lot of known exploiters promptly dropped Cannons and DHC for Beams and BFAW set up but I won't shame them in public, they know who they are. Boy, the damages are just...insane. For example, I was in a cloaked T'Varo, very high defensive value while cloaked and travelling using A2D with the purple A2D doff for +40 energy dmg resistance and A2SIFII for additional hull dmg resist. The fact I temporarily became targetable while firing projectiles for merely 2 seconds while somebody is BFAW trigger happy nearby got my hull from 100% down to 67% in 2 seconds. Notice, I wasn't even the target of his BFAW and I was at least a good 6-7KM away, possibly more. Hit Evasive and ran away as fast as I could. I don't believe there was any crit shot and frankly, there weren't that many shots anyway. Prior to today, in a similar situation, I would lose about 10-12% of my hull at most, sometimes, a lot less.
This should give you an idea just how badly broken this is...
Came into a match against 4 scimitars (including Mal Reynolds and Sax) in my JHAS.
I had a pugmade team of solid PvP players. Full speed, 95% defense, 2 neutroniums, EPtS rolling. My bug is stacked with the best gear you could ever want, and is tanky as hell. The scimitars decloaked and attacked. I used tactical team immediately as my port shield facing dropped and my hull reduced to 30%. I went to hit my next defensive move, but too late.
I was destroyed before my TAC team resolved, and it's bound to my mouse wheel up to ensure I can hit it extremely fast.
Glancing to my PvP fleet-made team, I then realized that 3 others were dead with me.
FAW offered these scimitars a skill-less way to wipe a team in the span of a cooldown.
To make it more like canon- why not give faw a built in -50% Accuracy or something like that? I mean the point of faw was that there was no real specific target to lock on to so the weapons officer would just be firing at random. Well firing at random - aka fire at will should suffer a massive accuracy penalty.
Just for the sake of argument - has anyone tried something along the lines of these decloaking scimitar strikes with good positioning and CSV instead? Just curious.
faw AND that new console, for me PVP is totaly ruined !!

This is an old scenario (flying into a FaWball w/o defenses up 1st). You need to prebuff defenses before entering a FaWball's range. Also need to strafe in and out. The reason is unlike cannons beams are applied w/o a travel time. Need to chose an approach vector to minimize exposure to broadsides from multiple ships.
Tbh, it still seems like doffs are the big issue. Mainly, the anti debuff doff and aux2batt, w/the aux2damp being in the mix given it's uptime. The FaWball counter should be debuffing and spike strafe runs. An all Fawball team shouldn't (granted some can b/c of power creep) have the speed/disables available to them to keep up/stop you.
Feeling like cheesing things up w/AMS, SS w/doff, Theta (kill crew), and the new DEM doff will become more common. I know I bought AMS and SS doff (though didn't equip that).
Fyi, wait until people get the hull leech set bonus to energy weapons. Think good FaW Scimmi's are hard to kill now ...

When the "no-crits" bug hit, I stopped using FAW on my FAHCR because it left me vulnerable. No-crit = no T4 placate = no jamming spikey escorts. So I dropped the power, especially during 1v1 matches.
The net result was a huge fall-off in potency. At one point I lost a dozen straight matches to a player (well known escort pilot with both Rommie and Klink toons) who, in the past, I likely would have beaten more often than not. However, without crits, FAW was useless. Its "rapid fire" benefits against a single target were lost because it meant opening a placate-free window for sustained bombardment from that same target (again, no crit = no placate). I did my best but, as the matches dragged, the outcome became inevitable.
Now FAW is back and, as expected, the tables have turned. This same player and I went at it 4 times in Ker'rat last night, and each time I prevailed (though barely - he's very spikey). And it was FAW, along with all those critical hits and resulting STA jams, that allowed me to survive long enough to grind him into space dust.
Bottom Line: For cruisers like mine, FAW is *the* difference between potency and punching-bag status.

He said once "kirk roleplayers want beams to do more damage than dhc but we cant nerf dhc because it will cause rage" ....here is your result.

People starting to knock on 60K dps in Infected now so I've been informed...
its almost as if....you have to just run faw and hope you outlast the other guys.
all my toons, in just 2 days time, went from having solid matches to being melted.
except when i went back to faw on my tac cruiser......then i outlasted.
makes no sense to me.

The Alpha Deception Console is broken. It's not supposed to effect Captain Powers...
Of course, just resetting BOFF powers like that is still OP, but not nearly as bad as the console is in its current state.
It's gonna get used though, broken or not. MWO was fun today.
zelda what new console is this?
The one I mentioned, the Alpha Deception Console. Log in and I'll show you how it works
