This game isn't the only one with this problem, and yes, it is a problem. Ever since my first experience with online play (cod mw) I've noticed that teams are always the ones with an advantage, and are most likely to win 9 times out of 10. This is do to not only getting to know each others strengths and weaknesses over time, but also having each player set up to fulfill a specific role. Teams are also usually using communication to report player positions and set up. The same is true for STO. Each member of a premade team is set up to best benefit the team, and they communicate who should do what, and who to target.
These advantages make for very uneven and unfair gameplay. Not only does this drive occasional pvp'ers entirely from playing pvp, but those who want to play but don't like teams, or simply don't have the ability to communicate with a team, get very frustrated and eventually just stop trying altogether. The solution to this is very simple for any game. Seperate arenas for teams and pug's. In 1 game I used to play, it was possible to enter into a mode that banned premade teams from entering an arena. It was solely random players for each side. This makes it more fun for those of us who aren't that big on team play and just want to see how well we fair against other players. Because let's face it, no one has a good time when they don't have a chance to win, and I doubt it stays very fun for those who demolish their opponent every time.
People that pug a lot need to take action. If you see that your going to be facing a team, leave. If people that are wanting to face pugs and not face teams were to start to do that it would send a message to both players and hopefully the developers as well.

People that PUG a lot should accept the fact that they will always be at a disadvantage against organized teams and take the next logical step. Refusing to take that step is the fault of the player, not the game or the queues. Changing the game to cater to the LCD is just plain stupid, and is part of the reasone PvE is embarrassingly (to the devs, or should be anyway) easy. Which leads to players being completely unprepared when they finally decide to queue up for PvP.

What a laugh. Catering to the LCD? I donn't think so. It's catering to those that wish to take part in pvp and do not expect to be stomped by a team that's there to do just that. If you enjoy zero challenge then going in with a team to stomp pugs is the way to go. Now that's catering to the LCD.

Stop, you're gonna bust my side... can't stop laughing.
I've been on both sides of this argument. I even started a thread on the subject back during S2, I think. PvP didn't become enjoyable until I learned the value of good wingmen. Simple, you want the ROFLstompings to stop, team up. If you refuse to take the step, that puts you in the LCD category. You are refusing to get better (and yes, at a certain point "getting better" involves teaming). This is not a single-player game, no matter how much you want it to be.

No I refuse to take part in the way you want me to play. Sorry but to me your the one that is lcd, asking others to just take a pug stomping because that's what you enjoy giving out. Well I for one will not be taking part in that. Like I said, see a team, leave the match.
There should be separate ques but till that happens people pugging need to stop feeding the jerks that enjoy handing pug stomping and the best way to do that is refuse to take part.
As long as people believe that they should be able to do everything by themselves, they will never warm up to the idea of teams. Seperate queues = STO's own No Child Left Behind.
"If I see anyone in the match that can beat me, I am going to quit and cry to the devs that the game is too hard and needs nerfed to my playstyle"

Forget about adapting your playstyle to suit a team-oriented environment, that's not important. What is important is that you continue to delude yourself into believing it must be someone else's fault. Just keep Kirking it up, you'll be fine...
Forming a team out of OPvP can be one step up from simply pugging. I see people do this all the time, especially feds. Now if you are kdf, it might be a bit harder but not entirely impossible.

Got no problem with that, I subscribe to both TD and OPvP
But for me, part of the difficulty is not knowing whos on the other side.
If I had a dollar for every time our fleetmades have gone into a queue, confident we would do well, and end up vs a pug that just happens to have player X and Y in it.
"Alright guys its asdfasdf afasfsf asfdsf and Player X and Player Y"
"Oh TRIBBLE, serious face on, set bind to team member 12345whatever"
Happens a lot more often than you think, too. There are plenty of "those guys" that you never ever let your guard down against, even if everyone else with them are the worst players ever. That one guy can put a real wrench into your works.

Since every Arena match is a team vs. a team, does that mean that you warp out of every match?
You know what he means. When he sees 5 guys from the same fleet curb stomping the other side in lockbox ships. Locking everyone down from the other side in endless sci and cheese spam, it ruins the game for him.
Personally, I get irritated by it as well. And if its really bad, and its obvious its a premade premade, I'm not sticking around. That being said, its a game, and the engine reflects wallets over skill, so I don't get too bent out of shape when I lose. I'm just not signing up to be waxed over and over by dorks who brought a premade to a pug. They knew good and well what would happen. All the excuses in the world won't change the fact they are looking in the wrong place for good matches but in the right places for ego boosts. That's why they are in public queues as a premade.
Disclaimer: When I see multiple people from the same fleet, I'm suspicious of a premade but will give it a whirl. However, when I see 2 recluses + 3 wells/bugs/voth ships and my side is destroyed in 30 seconds . . . Well its obvious this wasn't just some guys from the same fleet getting together on a whim

Once again what a total joke.
So your awesome, I admit it, everyone admits it, you and your friends that need to team up and stomp pugs are AWESOME. The best that ever played Star Trek Online. So to prove how awesome you are you need to go into the q and stomp pugs, right? I mean it makes perfect sense to go into matches where the other team is just there to get destroyed by you.
That's fine if that's how you feel about it and you have every right to think that way, just donn't ask me to take part in those matches. I wonn't.
Maybe whoever wins the Super Bowl this year should play a high school team just to prove how much better they are.

I cant believe this guy still thinks its about easy kills, because its not lol.
"pug stomp" matches are among the most boring things out there, especially when not even ONE of the OPFOR are any good.
I seriously think you need to reconsider the intentions of the PvP community at large, because you are so far off base it isnt even funny.
Here let me emphasize it for you
WE DO NOT QUEUE TO ROLL PUGS. WE QUEUE FOR THE DOUBLE BLIND HOPE OF GETTING A TEAM THAT WE ARENT PREPARED SPECIFICALLY FOR, THE CHALLENGE FACTOR.
PREARRANGED MATCHES TEND TO BE PREDICTABLE, ERGO: PERSON X IS GOING TO BE THE HEALER, PERSON Y IS THEIR DAMAGE DEALER.
We dont necessarily want that sort of cookie cutter setup TRIBBLE. Thats okay now and then, but the last thing we want are uberpredictable always the same fight thing.
Fight clubbing against the same few people every single match gets REALLY OLD.
Now get it through your thick skull.

Sorry but maybe you need to get it threw your thick skull. There's many teams that are doing just that, maybe not you but a majority are. Also as you say you know that your going in to curb stomp randoms, why would you think the people that is happening to would be happy with that?
Your reasoning makes zero sense. We donn't want to fight a match against a team because it tends to be boring so we fight a pug because we can roll them and maybe get a hard fight. What sense does that make?

Different people, different setup, different tactics, different game.
If you premade pvp often enough (and in other games i have done literally thousands of premade matches vs the same people) you get to the point of wondering why youre even doing it, because its always the same thing every single time.

Then WHY are you against splitting the queues into team/premades queue and a pug/random queue? That seems to fit 100% with what you just said. You DONT want to pugstomp pugs. So... support queue splitting and get premade vs premade matches that you want? Explain?
Biggest problem I see with separate ques* (Autocomplete on my Android is trolling me) is that no matter how many teams are out there, there will only be a few [most likely 2] at any given time. Meaning it is not a philosophical issue that they are arguing. It is a logistical issue. They will only get to play against the same people every day.

Ill sum it up pretty simply.

Agreed and if one team is a premade team with complimentary builds and the right mix of abilities and all on TS etc while the other team is one pro, 3 tactical PvE escorts which have 3 team abilities each and a herp derp newly levelled sci/sci then it's a huge disadvantage.
People don't have a problem with hopping into a queue and getting beaten if they have fun, but bashing your head against a brick wall isn't fun. Just as it isn't fun for the brick wall to get bits of those smelly humans on it.

You realize you just destroyed your entire argument. Thanks for falling into my trap.
Go find some teammates and make a premade and shut up.
Oh wow you really think you are clever don't you. No trap was fallen for. I simply used your logic against you.
You are the minority of pvp, you will always be. The majority will be in the pug queue. If you can't handle yourself in your team of 3 then you have 2 options. Split up and join the pug queue, or follow your own advice and increae your team size to 4 or 5.

Cryptic we really need two queues only for pvp
* Solo-random teams
And
* Group/team queues
Let the premades fight premades, let the pugs fight pugs.

Anyone care to team up and queue? Different fleet tags a must. Ya know, cause multiple people with the same tag means its a premade ubergroup.
