    With our luck (and knowing PWE) the 'epic' announcement will be:

    "ARC is now mandatory to access STO! ARC provides a streamlined user experience across all Cryptic/PWE games..."
    ^^^
    I hope not - but, I wouldn't put something like this past the PWE management (and as PWE's spokesperson, our CM, would naturally describe the above as 'epic news', as that's part of his job.)

    Well if you're talking about what I think you are, there is a *alien* carrier that is supposed to be obtainable from completing the special episode coming on thursday. But they've been very tight lipped about it and there is next to no info about it.

    Actually quite often you see IV written as IIII. For example, ctrl+f for "XIIII" here:

    Fact: It's not today. You will know it's the announcement when you see it, and no, it's not Arc related :)

    EDIT: We already know it is not the S8 release date; and they would never start talking about next years update before S8 even launched.

    Brandon has said it is going to be 'Epic' and an 'important announcement' for STO... So I don't think the winter event qualifies especially as we know that is coming etc... I think it is something we really do not know anything about, hence wanting to speculate.

    Oh my,... if that happens I would be so HAPPY. I would be screaming and kicking... and... wait,.. to good to be truth.

    But if it does happen I sure hope the free to play doesn't stop. :)

    With the alien carrier launching, hangar pets are no longer going to be bound to a specific ship.

    Just something random I thought about, maybe even anger people by making the JHAS hangar pet obtainable without the actual JHAS...

    Are you saying that the alien carrier will be able to equip all pets, or that any ship will be able to equip any pet after the alien carrier is released? Also, was this officially confirmed?

    I'm being hopeful that it's voiceover work with Michael Dorn, since they updated Worf on Qo'nos. That would be pretty awesome.

    Ah... figures how that slipped past my watchful eyes... thanks anyway...

    But to be frank after that... it has to be some really epic sh*t on a "We will provide all Lifetime Players, Current and Ex Gold Players with free and fully functional Holodecks and it will arrive soon!" Level.

    All speculation like the name of the thread is...just something random that popped into my head that very well probably isn't right but if it were it might be considered epic...least for carrier pilots.

    This is my guess...

    I'm going to go waaaay out on a limb here...

    I think the "EPIC" announcement we are going to get this week is that...

    ... STO has acquired the rights from Paramount to use JJ-Trek Stuff in the game.


    Stay with me here for a moment...

    There have been rumblings on the internetz over the last couple of months that CBS and Paramount are in secret negotiations to try and figure out a way to avoid another fiasco, like the one that occurred when JJ wanted to work out a deal over the licensing of his Trek movies.

    Essentially, what happened was, He couldn't get CBS and Paramount to agree on the Merchandising Deal he wanted for the Films...

    He eventually threw his hands up in disgust and walked away.

    This left both of the Trek IP Owners with a very large pile of egg on their faces.

    I'm sure somebody in the higher-up offices at Viacom, wanted to know who-screwed-the-pooch and why.

    It was shortly after this became public knowledge, that the rumors started spreading about an internal reorganization of the Trek Franchise.

    Therefore, I'm going with the "EPIC" announcement being, what I described in my opening above.
