    Serious question here guys:

Why does STO bring in these expensive VOs' [as opposed to cheaper, no-one-has-heard-of-before]?

Don't get me wrong here, it is nice, but as a money making corporation, why lose your profit margins?
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

    I hope STO get's better ...

Because then they'd hear the angered cries of the fans as they marched upon the Cryptic offices with torches and pitchforks; "That's not Tasha/Worf/Q/etc.! We want the real (character)! We want (Actor) to voice them! Give us a real (character)!"

It's safer to just spend the extra money and bribe, er... pay the actors/actresses to reprise their roles.

I mean Seriously people whine all day every day that PWE is greedy and Cryptic is greedy all they want is money, the devs don't care they just want your money....and now someone is complaining because they are spending money and not getting a discount actor, or a coupon.

Sorry your favorite Trek actor was not chosen for this one mission, but there are other missions, and we are going to the Delta Quadrant at some point so maybe Seven of TRIBBLE , or Jane get out of my Way will show up later.

    "Tough little ship..."
    "Little?!"

Glad to have Michael dorn part of STO, defently a good treat for the kdf for once. But epic??? ehhhh.. not really.

Epic would be if they had secretly been working on polishing the game and getting rid of the all the bugs.. now that be epic. :D

...While you're dreaming, would you like that highway from California to Hawai'i to be six lanes or eight?

Who cares about your speculation! Play the game, the info will come soon enough. Stop wasting your time on speculation, most of which will be false.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

Don't know how "epic" this news is, that seems to be a fairly idiosyncratic reaction.

But it has pretty well squelched the Arc discussion, so, well done!
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

To set the record straight neoakiraii, I am not complaining. From a economical standpoint, I don't see the point*. Yes, I don't really like Worf, but hey, I feel happy other players are / will be happy because of his return to ST.

So, please get your information correct before making false and almost babyish accusations and snide remarks, thank you.

See flash, you are an insightful player, may I ask a question?

In your mind (and anyone else is able to answer, besides this is a forum :D) what would be the most epic news you could hear?

And as for voice actors, who do you think is next?

And who would you like, regardless of relevance.

Please call me un-grateful; really , I do deserve it. :(

But of all the announcements, this was not really what I was hoping for. I am not a fan of Worf.

In a way, I was hoping for some news on the Krenim, or maybe the update of the Cryptic Engine. And the 2 people I , really, REALLY, want to see in STO (VO) is Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner (I love Data soooooooooooooooo much ) I don't know what to say really. Thank you?

You guys go and enjoy your new toy, I will go off and sulk [again :(] for a while. :(

So because Cryptic didn't spend money on what YOU wanted it's wasteful, but if they spent it on Picard, and Data well that's money well spent...Despite that Worf is one of the most popular characters in Trek, was on two Trek series, and has a large fan base it's a waste of money ..... gotcha

I think i got my information in order

Your questions don't come easy do they? Heh.

I suppose it would be a third fully independent faction, I've always wanted such even before I joined (even though I'm a lifer now, I joined after the F2P model launched), and even when I was reading up on the game, I kept thinking "I hope they'll do a third faction one day". Whilst they did go and do that third faction, it wasn't implemented in the way that most people would have rather them done it.

I've always envisioned a three-faction layout (though I wouldn't want the Cardassians to be left out either, that's why I've created too many topics about merging them with the Romulans). But yeah, I think news of a third fully independent faction with no alliance system with the Federation or Klingon Defence Force would do it for me. :)

If not that, then an "interview with the devs, specifically for me". :P The opportunity to ask them questions (from a selfish point of view) is an opportunity that I think everyone would love. Everyone wants this game to run their own unique way, and the devs have got to make it run so that it's playable by everyone. I can't imagine just how hard that might be, and I know I give them stick quite a bit, so yeah, would be nice to be able to sit down with them and say "can we have this, and if not, why" etc.

Well, the answer to this is significantly easier. Shran & Garak are my all time two favorite characters, and as such I'd love nothing more than for Jeffrey Combs or Andrew Robinson to return to voice those characters. From a lore point of view though, it's likely only Garak would work, cause Shran (and Weyoun) are long dead.

I had it pointed out to me in fleet chat that STO is not as much about functional gameplay as aesthetics. Looks at its reviews. Much higher on being a good looking game than a good playing game. I had to agree that this seems to be the focus, either they bit off more than they can chew, or more likely, the business people want to see a fabulous Star Trek that creates a strong and powerful image.

Either way, it is probably going to continually disappoint from a functional perspective, but amaze from an immersion perspective, and voice over works toward that.

I never said it was wasted. Show me where I said that!

And to be quite frank, I don't think money spent on Picard and Data would be very well spent. I would love it, YES! But, for the same money, Cryptic could do more with that. Just because loads of players want something, does not mean it will be profitable. The FE is not paid DLC, it is free! Seriously, from a economic standpoint, it makes no sense ... is it to attract players to the game?

And yet, you are still evading the original question, or not explaining it very well. And may I add, I think you think you got your information wrong.

I think the economic stand point is if they can get a few hundred thousand to log on and spend 5 to 10 bucks they get their investment back. They aren't selling a new game, they are just selling items in Zen store.

Hi, what do we all think next weeks 'epic' STO announcement will be?

I think CBS is going to announce a new Trek TV show set in the STO universe and the game will be tied to it, similar to the game / TV show combo that is Defiance.

    :)

EDIT: We already know it is not the S8 release date; and they would never start talking about next years update before S8 even launched.

Brandon has said it is going to be 'Epic' and an 'important announcement' for STO... So I don't think the winter event qualifies especially as we know that is coming etc... I think it is something we really do not know anything about, hence wanting to speculate.
There will never be a show based off of TNG again they are fineshed if their is to be TV show it will be more like JJ if you kept up with the news like I do.TNG is dead and you can thank Rick Bermon and Ron Braga for that.
