You may want to consider referencing the correct post next time. He explained why he didn't like it. You're just bashing on him because his opinion differs from yours. Instead of senseless complaint, why not respect it and carry on, or explain why you disagree, which he asked about in the first post you quoted.

You see I did reference the correct post. Im not bashing im telling the truth, there is no reason to keep saying you don't like it. If you don't like it just say you don't like it and move on, no reason to say its yuck x 10^100000000 or its insultingly ugly. You say its just a senseless complaint well the same thing goes for his post too, and last time I checked im still entitled to my opinion.

Like mscowboy said he didn't make an argument, he made a statement of aesthetic opinion. there is nothing to argue. This still holds true to my original post if he doesn't like it he doesn't have to buy it.

Am I the only one around who finds this boat to be too insultingly ugly to even consider buying?

Nope, I'm getting it because it looks like an armored space ducky. Consider how absolutely boring life would be if it were only modeled to look pretty. In star trek at least all we would have is Robert Picardo's forehead and the swooping wooden arch of the enterprise D bridge if all we were interested in was that which was aesthetically tasteful.

IMO i think the Avenger looks a little bit like a constitution refit with updated bits from the regent. also if you squint at it not that much you ( at least I ) can see the dreadnought class from ST: into Darkness

    Needs a Hanger Bay
    Needs the Typhoon "skin"
    Needs 4 Tac Consoles
Needs at least 5 Tac Skill slots
Needs 2 Uni Stations (no Ensign)
    Needs 11+ Turn Rate
    Needs 1.2+ Shield
    Needs 38k+ Hull
Needs Wide Angle Quantum Torpedo Launcher

Of course just having 1/3 of those will probably sell me.
But a hanger is a must, or it won't pull me from my Multi-Mission Recon. Sci (Vesta)

A federation battlecruiser is the very definition of an oxymoron.

Yes, you are right, but not for the reason you think. Battlecruisers were heavily armed but lightly armored capital ships meant to hunt down everything but battleships and should never have been used in the battle fleet.

These ships have more shields and high armor with lots of forward facing weapons, so they dont really meet the definition of "battlecruisers" in a historical context.

But if your federation is at war with the klingons, you are going to make more offensive minded ships out of necessity.

This ship has a lot of weapons, in fact its not really 5-3, its more like 6-3 with the VATA weapon system built in. That is a lot of firepower with little to no reduction in armor or shields.

So the ship is an oxymoron, but not why you think it is...

Well, in addition to Marcus; there's also what we see from the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" (which at that point had a 23 year long conflict with the Klingon Empire ongoing - and the Feds on the loosing end.)

The current Fed/KDF War (in STO's timeline) is in it's third year (or fourth if they ever decide to move forward to 2410 with the Season 8 update); so it's about time we're seeing some ship design philosophy changes of the Federation side.

It hits as hard as the scimitar with a DHC build. Jesus christ its powerful

Im scared to put a2b and eptw into this. it already is hitting 13k sustained with my Omega X build on it plus DEM2 and RSP3 for staying alive.

I.... dont even know what to say. Its almost OP for PVE. Cycling RSPs (with the duration doff) with EPtS and TSS1 made me completely immortal to the borg. They didnt even touch me meanwhile I was hammering them down like they were nothing.

PvP its a little harder to measure, but I didnt die in my test match, and did the lowest damage on my team (but thats probably due to trying to learn to fly cannoncruiser)

And let me tell you this, when you get 2 or more in a group and stack those team powers together... the power drain one and the shield one... you notice it. Turn rate is a little more iffy (its the same as helmsman really), but... just wow.

From what I can tell at first glance whilst using it against the Tholians, it doesn't pack that much of a punch. Going to try it on some Borg later on.

I wonder how many people on STO absolutely can not learn anything. When I log on now I'm seeing Avengers everywhere, everyones rushing to buy them, now lets just wait to see all the "I WANT A REFUND!!", "I WAS ROBBED!!!" and my personal favorite, the "I WANT MY LAWYER!!" threads that will be popping up in a couple of days to a week should Cryptic decide to drop the stats a little or make some other change to the Avenger. Why couldn't it happen? It's happed to almost every ship that's been added to the cash shop.

I wouldn't be offended if it got nerfed a little. It's a damned powerful ship at the moment, slightly OP even. But I'll enjoy it while it lasts :D.

the quantum version can do ok damage when it crits, and the chronoton one flys around the target for a long while before hitting, but the tachyon one is freaking awesome for bringing down shields in pve and pvp. If both hit its -30% shield resistance :)

lol depends on how nerfed. I'm thinking it's best to give it 1 or 2 weeks after a new ship is released before buying it so you can see the real stats. but on the other hand it's more fun to point and laugh at all the complaint threads whenever a new shiny does get nerfed a bit.

This is similar to the attitude that I'm taking, although I'm unlikely to switch from my FACR. I already subscribe, so I'm doing my bit for keeping the game afloat. Nevertheless, I find the new ship intriguing and may pick it up to see how it does.

It seems to me that if you're doing a beam boat you're not going to get much of an advantage from the Avenger unless you change your tactics to focus on DBB. Which might be worthwhile, really.

That somewhat bizarre assertion caught me off guard. Kudos, sir or madam! :)

fwiw I find the armored space ducky design appealing. As the above quote illustrates, aesthetic preference is highly individualized.

I think I might go back to my fleet regent. When broadsiding with an A2B build it's boff station arrangement is far more advantageous than the Avengers, not requiring you to take a sci boff.

If you build it correctly you don't need to slot a Sci in the universal.

That's my point about why the Regent has the superior boff layout.

Yeah the cruiser powers are nice. Its hard to gauge how OP the Avenger is by itself since they introduced the comms array at the same time and only allowed Avengers to use it. Scimitar probably hits just as hard. That thing can cloak too. But yeah its hard not to love this ship. A Torkaht on steroids.

i seen it in action in the no win scenario and it looks ok in the type 6 material . she looks like you would expect a battle cruiser to be smallish and very arored up with big guns. but i only thought the vatas only launched 2 projectiles at a time i saw one which fired three with the tachyon beam shooting out of them

Got the avenger earlier today.....its a freaking monster lol

with the stock gear, fresh out of the shipyard, i had 48k hull, 6.5k shields (roughly) the BASE TR is 9...I had 16.5 on balanced and 19.5 with the maneuvers command aura...that being said it doesnt seem like it turns as fast as it says it should lol...currently im running 3 retrofit phasers, quad phaser cannons, and a transphasic torp Fore, with 2 retrofit phasers and a standard mk x photon torp aft....seems to do pretty well, ran it in a foundry mission at advanced difficulty and only blew up due ti being to close to a D'D in a cloud that disabled shields -_-...the thing is a freaking monster....and with the avenger skin (a Dark metallic hull...and i mean DARK) it looks great....imo well worth the zen, the VATA seems alright, though i sort of wish it wasnt as random as it seems.

it fires 2 Tachyon/chronoton/quantum armaments the third one was the micro torpedo the larger ones can fire on there way to the target if multiple enemies are around

yes it's torpedoes can fire torpedoes
