Nope, no options. I have never had anything change the visuals on my ship. I have had the Roman, Jem'Hadar, and Solanae impulse engines before the Nukara and no changes at all to visuals. Any recommendations?

    Are your graphics set low?

There is no "down" function. Use your right mouse button to tilt the camera down and press forward. You can descend pretty vertically that way. Gaining altitude can be done the same way, or by pressing the spacebar to fly directly up.

    Hi, returning player here.

A couple of questions from a tactical standpoint :-

Is the Scimitar (or T5U ships in general) still worth dropping cash on, or should i buy a T6? I'd rather play a fed cruiser but not if they're at such a disadvantage (when i left Scimi was absolute king).

Also, how is the balance between escorts and beam cruisers these days?

    Thanks.

Since I can't send a private message to a moderator I ask the question here again:
When I replied to a thread (for example THIS),I selected in notification type "Instant email
notification" but I don't have any notification in my email when someone
reply to that thread or other threads I subscribe.
I don't know if it's my email or what. I use Yahoo Mail. There aren't any notification in my spam folder either.

Since when did rarity increase on weapons "beams" not increase its overall damage output? I thought it was 5% per level? (white -> green -> blue ---> gold)

Hi. Thanks for this thread since I'm too new to be able to start a thread of my own.

    Here's my question:
I've been coasting along nicely taking care of most npc enemies in space battles just fine. Even after bumping the difficulty up to advanced, the fight was generally fairly simple. However, I just attempted the next mission in the story arc I'm doing and was simply eviscerated in a few seconds by a phalanx science vessel. I'm doing the 'Ultimate Klingon' episode and after respawning a few times managed to take on a couple of patrol ships that are more my size before the phalanx found me again and gutted me like a pig. I looked this mission up on wiki and it looks like the phalanx is not supposed to be there. The walkthrough says take out 2 Gorn ships then move on. In my game, after taking out the 2 Gorn patrols I don't get an opgion to beam down, I simply get pwned by the phalanx.

What's up? Is this a bug or did is this mission just where the game leaps from insanely easy to insanely hard with no warning? Perhaps my difficulty setting is being weird? I would expected a more gradual increase in difficulty but perhaps I just need to go level up, A LOT, before attempting the next mission?

    Any suggestions?

Hello. I was looking for the answer myself, but I failed, so, if you would be so kind as to enlighten me on the subject I have to discuss, I will be very grateful.

It's about restricted words for names of characters and ships. I was willing to name my bridge officers and my main character after the ones I liked in the series, but the game told me that I can't have a bridge officer with the surname Dax, for instance, or to give to my character the surname of a certain tailor from the DS9. But at the same time I've seen different players with the characters like Kathryn Janeway and even Elim Garak Jr. So, why so unfair? Why can't I do so while somebody else seems able to chose the names he likes? That discovering was very upsetting. And why even restricted? After all I hope we're all trekkers here.

I ask your forgiveness if I'm repeating someone else's question an answer on which I wasn't able to find. LLAP

The list has been expanded over time. I myself have a couple of bridge officers who have names that cannot now be created (not ones you mentioned). Also, those people might have gotten around it by using the longer form of the name.

Also, ship names (not officers) are limited to 16 characters, which you may not be hitting, but... thought I'd mention it.

Thank you very much for your kind answer, it cleared the subject to me. By the way is there a chance that you may be knowing why at all the names that were in the series are forbidden? It is kind of strange as the game itself was plotted for those who obviously appreciate and respect the creators of the Star Trek universe and everything related to it.

Many reasons, the first is play your own character. This is your story, not garaks, not rikers etc.

Next, because most of them are in the game in some way shape or form officially. Even, a duty officer named Elim Ziyal. Having you make fake clones is just weird and immersion breaking when you encounter the real one.

But the big one, is to prevent trolls from ruining everyone's fun.. As an example, there is a very nice person in the game with a character named saint olivia. Every winter she gives away a huge amount of stuff to new players and during the year she dedicates herself to helping people and ensuring others have fun. Every year people make characters with names duplicating hers but the characters are as ugly as possible (tellarites and pakleds are popular) and then challenge people to duels, spam foul language and insults, attack people with water balloons and dance balls, etc. Generally do everything they can to ruin everyone's fun and ruin her name.know, do you want those asshats doing the same thing to your favorite character from the show?

That's correct, that's why I was talking about surnames - one might invent some relative to a character that was in the series.

Actually it happened to me when I encountered a ship that was bearing the name of the one of my officers because I'd unintentionally given her a vulcan name that I hadn't remembered being in the series.

Yes, I see your point, you're right. I think I wouldn't put that question at all - considering the reasons you gave - if all the names were restricted for everyone. I just took to heart the inequality I've clarified before. But the fact that someone does things you described is really disgusting, and no one deserves it, especially the characters of the universe we're fond of.

Its sad that some people had to ruin it for everyone. But the developers did try to leave as many names free as possible. They only lock a name after it got abused.

But you usually can find a way to make a relative of someone on the shows if you are creative.

In addition to garak and ziyals kid being in game as a duty officer, Thomas riker's son is in a mission during the cardassian arc, sulu's grand daughter is on earth space dock (this became a meme early in the games history) and there's a few more I don't recall off the top of my head.

Yes, I see. Thank you for the data.

But of course. It was a question of inequality, you see. Now I know everything I wanted to about this subject, thank you both again.

Of course she hasn't time to give birth to anyone, I guess gavinruneblade just wanted to mind that their names are used in the game anyway *smiles*

Don't ruin my fantasy with the truth!

    ^.^

Ya, elim ziyal is unlikely to be their actual kid. Though with all the time travel, cloning, and mirror universe crossovers it is possible.

They were such a great couple that I like to think some wacky technobabble plot device came into play. Fortunately the devs are unlikely to directly address this particular duty officer so I'll get to go on making believe.

    Grandson, I thought.

There's also multiple references to Chief O'Brien and his family, two or three missions where you cross paths with Miral Paris, Icheb is in the game somewhere as well, Jhet'leya (Ensign Ballard) from VOY:'Ashes to Ashes' turned up in a recent featured episode (I bet you can guess which one)... not to mention that we have voice acting from Spock, Worf, and a large number of the Voyager crew, especially in the missions beginning from 'Sphere of Influence'. Oh and Denise Crosby did voice for both of her TNG roles... one of which crops up a LOT.

Sisko's baseball is still on the desk at DS9 too.. though as far as I am aware, it does not have a name.

The discussion is specifically limited to descendants of major characters. Actual major characters are obviously blocked. But yes O'Brien's kid on the enterprise f is a good one.

Yes, they were, even though I myself prefer the couple lunching at the replimat *smiles* Anyway the universe of the Star Trek leaves us many things to imagine if we are willing to. In the meanwhile I guess we are overflooding the topic right now as it was made for those who seek for answers.

I am pretty much a noob in that I had a character to level 18 back in update 4 that did only the first three story missions.

I came back now, made a cat, took her to 23, and it was easy and fun, but I bought this stupidly expensive delta quadrant steam pack, and by the looks of it, I need to make a delta quadrant character and level them to 50 or so to unlock the stuff for my first (level 18 fed) character, which is the one I want to main (like she's the one I care about).

So, do I have to make a delta quadrant character to unlock the goodies for my fed character or am I mistaken?

Thank you for the thread, there is a tremendous wealth of information in here.

What do you think of leveling outside the story to level whatever then doing it so the neat items you get are end game level? Or can you just get the items by replaying the mission later?

In the alt U, Ziyal would likely kick TRIBBLE and take names, while Elim licks her boots. Heck, Ziyal might even defeat Kira and become Queen of the Alt Universe.

There is no such thing as a delta quadrant character. I think you mean delta recruit. That was a limited time event which is over now, if you didn't make one during the event then you don't have one and can't get one unless they decide to rerun the event.

Did you make one during the event? F you did, then as you use that character to complete story missions both that character and every other character on your account get special rewards.

You can rerun missions to get the gear at higher level. There are several missions people specifically love to rerun because the rewards are very good. "Everything old is new" is one, because it gets you kirk-tos-style blue colored phasers. The Borg story "assimilated" is another one that gives high quality kit modules.

Also, running missions is the fastest way to level, plus it gives you great gear. Doing it other ways generally requires help from another character to share gear, or to just use duty officer missions and take it very slow.

Here is a rather interesting question regarding storyline missions...You know...The ones broken down into episodes? Is there a reward for completing every one of those missions? If so, is it worth going to the trouble of completing all of them?
