Is there a guide for gear sets and how they synergize with different play styles? I know how the adapted maco with the 2-pc farengi torp and mine bonus is fantastic for dedicated torp boats, but what about the other sets?

Does the Pathfinder come with Intrepid skin variant, the one we see Voyager have in Delta story arc? I don't have t4 or t5 c-store version. Thank you

I'm horrifically confused. I am trying to get my bridge officers to use torpedo high yield 3 and torpedo spread 3 and other skills that I'm sure they are trained in because it's listed in their skills, but when they are at their stations they are only using level 1 stuff, I'm not sure why it won't change, either I'm doing something wrong, or it's a bug. Need a little help please

It sure does. The only skin it doesn't come with is the Bellerophon which only comes in the bundle or from buying it separatley.

Higher ranked skill can only be used in a corresponding higher ranked slot. Those torpedo skills you listed need to be slotted into a Lt. Commander tactical slot to be used. If your ship does not have that slot, you cannot use those skills.

The level 1 skills you see are because you have the same skill at a lower rank slotted into an Ensign tac slot. Those rank 3 skills can never be slotted into a lower ranking slot.

Hi, Just wanted to start playing - low budget, just get in cheap with a character or two. Is there any special / thing that I should be aware of?

    Thanks heaps!

as a free to play, you are limited to the number of characters, and how much EC you can have in your bank. which can be a problem if you want to buy expensive things off the exchange. if you buy/earn any zen, then get the EC cap.

I started with STO before it was free, but it never grabbed me. recently I've started playing again!

I've fought my way to level 56 on my main Fed Tac captain. but this means that i'm using my level 40 ( ? ) free ship from the admiral...

1)So my first question is simple!: What ship should i be begging for??

I've seen some lovely ships float around. But what's the "best" ship for me?
For the moment I've actually got a mirror patrol escort (looks like a Promethius). Its setup with Plasma Dual Heavy Cannons, a turret, an omnibeam and a torpedo.

    2) But should I be saving for the T6 intelligence? Hazari Destroyer? Benthan Cruiser?... or something else entirely?
2a) is there an interim ship i should be getting first?

    3) i love the look of the Benthan, but its not an escort - and cant fit cannons... is this a problem?
3a) is there a ship that flys like it thats cheap i could try out 1st?
3b) is it better suited to an Engineer?

I'd open up a new thread... but apparently i cant do that yet :P

    thanks in advance

if you like escorts, you will eventually want a phantom. to buy a T5 at this point is frankly stupid, unless you are buying a lobi ship from the exchange.

I think you can test drive the T-6 ships on the tribble server.

Hey guys, I'm super new to STO, and had a few questions as well (no one in chat wanted to help me lol) and I'd really appreciate any answers!

    1. How often do you get "free" ships? I recently leveled to Lt. Commander, and received my 2nd ship. Can I expect a 3rd free ship at an additional level?

    2. What do you do if you choose the "wrong" ship?

I chose to play as a 'Science Officer' (always loved em in the shows) and when choosing my 2nd ship my fanboy-ism struck and instead of choosing what I now assume to be the "correct" ship type (a science vessel) I chose a Constitution-Class Cruiser (I mean come on right?).

I realize that I'm not stuck or anything and I can certainly play still, but I was just curious if there is any fix to this, like can you swap out ship's console types (swapping the Constitution's extra engineering for science perhaps?) or even trading it/selling it for another ship/dilithium?

Or am I stuck with it? If so, I suppose there are certainly worse ships to be stuck with (and I'll manage, especially if the answer to my first question is "yes").

    3. How does one get dilithium aside from buying it with Zen? I really want to start working on getting some dilithium so that when the time comes I'll have enough to sell if for Zen and buy the ship I REALLY want (the Nebula Class Advanced Research Vessel!) without just outright buying the Zen and purchasing it.

Thanks for any and all help guys! So far this game seems awesome!

you get new ships every 10 levels to 40. 90% of the people at LCDR choose the Connie
at Cdr, it gets interesting because you get the Akira which is the first decent escort, the Cheyenne heavy cruiser, and the Olympic "fishbowl" sci ship. the akira and cheyenne also have C-store variants with special conoles and are slightly better. (the thunderchild and the Stargazer). you can also get the T3 variants of the Nebula sci ship, and the Excelsior.

Captain gives you the hero ships from TNG, Defiant, Galaxy and Intrepid. of the three the defiant is probably the best in the tier.

Tier 5 opens up most of the C-store ships, and the freebie.. the Sovvy, the star cruiser, the recce sci the deep space sci, fleet and advanced escorts. they vary slightly by leaning one way or the other from the ensign boff slots. at this point in time I cannot recommend buying a T-5 c-store ship with the exeption of the Scimitar for the Romulans.

you do not have to fly the ship of your class. my sci guy is flying the Eclipse cruiser and my tac is flying the dauntless sci. both will transition to a carrier if one becomes available.

2 How effective is Plasma Hyperflux (3rd piece bonus from the Romulan Singularity Harness set) as used in normal game play? Comparing it to the Jem antiproton sweep or the Maco Beam.
    .

It's a free beam overload. You can also run it with the other two you mentioned as the hyperplasma is a bonus from having the torp, console and beam array, the others are from the shield, engine and deflector sets.

This will be an open question thread, as I have noticed a lot of people responding only to criticize a players time/skill level/knowledge instead of helping them answer their questions, so basically, you ask a question, and there's a 99.9% chance I will know the answer :) so ask away, I'll try to check. This thread as much as possible. All hands, ask away :D
Ok I have a question for you. I have searched and searched for an answer and have had no luck.
    So, my question is this:
How does a player find out what they need to do to unlock the Emotes that are locked?

Several new Emotes have been added recently, all of which are locked and I can find no info as to how to unlock them.

    Thank you in advance! :)

Thank you, this was the info I needed before buying the ship. But I'll have to wait for the next discount time as I want to have Pathfinder+Interior without getting t4 and t5 version that I wouldn't use. Seems like it is only available at that time.

Normally the wiki would help, but it seems to have lost editors recently and no one is stepping up to take over.

Which emotes specifically are you asking about?

Fan dance you get from the contest in the bar on nimbus.

Samba dance you get from the summer event.

Club dance was a freebie but if you missed it you need 250,000 platinum to buy it now.

Its a faaaaake is romulan only.

Jester dance needs a preorder code. Might be able to find one on eBay.

Was there another you wanted to know about?

New to the game - flying a Tier 4 Defiant with a Tac officer and thinking about implementing the kind of weapons build i am probably going to use on my current characters final ship.

Currently using 2 x dual beam banks and 2 x torpedoes on the front with 2 x beam arrays on the rear. I am using Beam FAW I and II and TS3 allowing me to hit multiple targets in my forward quarter at once (plus the TS3 looks pretty damn cool!). I've also got Tac Team in there for helping to keep my forward shields up. I find with this build i can one pass kill most NPC ships on the story line, usually 3 B'rels in one pass as well.

That being said eventually i want to put 2 turrets in the rear for 360 coverage including upping my DPS for my forward quarter. I will likely leave 1 x beam array in the 3rd aft slot once i get into my final ship.

Anyway the question..... Where do I buy / get turrets from?

You can get most weapons from the exchange including turrets.

But may I suggest that with your build you try using the Omni Beam from the the Solanae story line? It acts as a beam, but with 360 degree firing arc like a turret. Only comes as Antiproton though. Click Here.

If you go with the exchange (and have the funds) check out the Mk II stuff and find the mods you like, then just upgrade to the Mk you want. (Or craft it yourself.)

    Excellent thanks.

Turrets all equipped along with new shields and tactical consoles to suit.

Will definately look out for the Omni Beam when I get that far into the story line.

Try to Put the beam array front and move one torp rear. See if you like that.

Hi, I cant help you directly as I dont have the counter-command set, however with other sets it was important that they were all of the same Mark, and iirc you also had to do a separate reputation project (eg, the nukara set). But I dont know if either or both of those apply to this case.

Lots of the 3 piece costume unlocks now also require another reputation project to be run once you have all of the 3 pieces to get the costume unlock.

Try having a look in the CC rep, see if there's a costume unlock project there.

first, it's not just the kit you need 4 items: Kit, armor, shield, and gun. Once you have all four in the tailor on the top right corner is a pull down menu that defaults to "uniform" In that list you will see "off duty" and "formal". Once you unlock the set armor you will also see "counter command".

    That's where it is.

Most likely culprit is your graphics card. That one is old and even when it was new it was among the weakest of the 100 series. Most importantly it barely supports directx10 which I think the game tries to default to using. Still, i bet a few options tweaks can get you taken care of.

First, when you start sto, before the "engage" button is active, on the top right there is an options button. Click that and "force verify". This will quickly check all your files in case you had a patch go wrong.

Next, if that still doesn't work, force it to quit (cntrl-alt-del if necessary) and do it again, this time checking both force verify and safe mode. In safe mode when you get to the character select screen, go to your options. In the display tab there is a pulldown for graphics card. This defaults to auto. Look for a directx9 option and set that. Then log out and log back in and you should be fine.

Hopefully just the force verify solves it though. And if you can't log in even with safe mode, then I'm sorry your problem is beyond my ability to solve.

Hi. This may be the dumbest question yet, but I CAN'T figure out what to do at the Pollux System! I'm on Communication Breakdown "Investigate what happened to the USS Khitomer." I tried Googling it but didn't find anything.
So I set a course, got to the system, now I'm just sitting outside of it with about five other ships. I have no clue what to do. I have tried pressing every key, tried going to the Break Even (nothing clickable about it), tried flying around and coming back.. I'm stuck. I was having a grand old time enjoying my immersion into the story, and now I've been stuck for a while. Please help! I'm about to exit and go back to WoW!!!

If your in space (where you travel between systems) try backing up and flying up or down closer to the planet. I've had it where you set a course and it puts you underneath the planet and you can't start the mission. Hope this helps.

To be more specific, most systems require you to be closer than 1/3 of a light year and the mission start queue will not show up until you are within 0.34 LY... There are a few systems that I've noticed (mostly the Nebulae) where you have to be within 1/5 of a light year, or 0.20 LY...

So clearly this isn't the intent of this thread and so I apologize in advance but I'm unable to post yet due to the age of my forum account.

Question I have is how long should I expect to wait for a response on account issues? I'm a lifetime account owner from release, but left the game after a few months. Some friends and I are returning but I see my lifetime account is gone, and it appears I need to re-link accounts or something? I sent a support ticket in last week, including all information about my past account including the transaction ID, but I've heard nothing at all since the automated "we're busy, it may be more than 48 hours" response. I'm on day seven now, so would love to hear ideas or feedback from others.

Typically two business days, however due to the holiday it might be best to reply to the notice ( there should be a reply instruction in the message) because after a certain time they close requests solved or not.

Also, welcome back, and this is exactly what this thread is for.

Most DPS channels will have klingon private queues and if you can't get into one, however unlikely that may be, you can also look at RedditChat channel or Public Elite STF channel, all are fed/klingon channels that invite players to do pve queues.
