Love the fact that the game developers are giving away items for a change. But the down side of the give away to science officers is that they most likely already have the ship. I have both the nova and the neb refit. It would be good if they allowed you get to choose another ship if you have already purchased that ship. But two science ship choices in a row instead of switching the ship choice per day. e.g on day a science ship, then engineering, then tactical that way every class is able to get a ship.
I thought it was best to edit this to stop the trolls. The subject line is a play on wording to garnish attention. Look at the body of the statement its not a rage on developers but a suggestion to mix up the ship to to ensure different classes get an opportunity to get a ship out of their class.

My Fed main is science and I didn't have the Rhode Island (not Nova) and I am completely satisfied with the promotion. I am also happy for others who picked up things that I already had. See, no entitlement there.

The KDF got a carrier out of the deal. I'm looking forward to trying it out this weekend. Since I been wanting to try a carrier for a while. And never picked one up. So this was a very sweet deal for me.

You missed the point all together. diversifying the chioce would ensure other classes get a free ship. stop trolling. Instead of saying yeah that a point. but sadly they did not do it that way. You jump right to the negative.

You can't please them all. Why so negative to free gifts? Your the one jumping the negative band wagon. Better if they didn't do the gifts at all?

Calling someone a complainer is TRIBBLE. I made a suggestion because I felt left out of the give away. You have to look at things from both sides. I would be nice if they diversified the choice instead of one class of ship. Instead of calling someone a complainer. Have open mind.
I have looked at it from both sides since the start of it. I have no Sci Captain at all. So I have no need for those ships. However I still took them due to being free. And perhaps in the future of doing one. Thus this showed a positive view of it. Instead of saying I didn't get nothing. And being upset over the gift. So yes in a way I didn't get nothing for my Tac Captain or Eng Captain to use. Look at this as well. I didn't get nothing for my Romulan at all. But I was still happy they gave us something.
Even the shuttles. I didn't really care for them, due to lack of missions to use them. Or a reason to repeat the few they have over nothing to gain. However I still took them and will use them in future shuttle missions when they do them. So that was a positive outlook.
The outifts, well the DS9 one I can use. The tunic not so much. But once again I took it and with something later comes along. I might end up using it anyways. Where before I wasn't even considering buying it. Just like the shuttles.
I'm far from being negative on this week of gifts. As each one I saw a chance to use it. Now, or later in the future. Try to be more positive on the gifts we got.

They do 5 days of giveaways to ensure most ppl get something of use and not so everyone can get something everyday.
You missed the point. It's a free promotion. No matter what they gave away, someone was likely to already have them.
I think giving away two science ships was unfortunate, and I feel like they should have diversified it just a bit... but at the same time, just because they decided to give stuff away doesn't mean they suddenly owe you something just because you already had them.
I added to the statement because you still do not get what I said. I am not upset at all. That is in the first sentence. You have to be a good reader to pick it up. Notice the topic and the body of the statement are completely different. The statement turns into a suggestion.
Notice i did not say anything about any of the other items in the give away. My comments were about ship give aways and was simple suggestion nothing more.
Your not getting what I said. I didn't get nothing either. Since I have a Eng and Tac captains. So where is my ship for them? I'm in the same boat as well. Just be happy with the gift.

I never said anything about the other items. The comment was a suggestion about diversifying ship choices. Suggestion and nothing more than that. I added to the statement to ensure clarity.
Ok let's take a look at the last few ship giveaways. Winter event we got a Chel Grett and while it's a great ship for any career it was still a cruiser. 3 yr anniversary event. We got the Ambassador class. Still a pretty good ship for any class but yet again another cruiser. Summer event, we got a Risian Corvette, probably one of the best and most fun escorts ever added to the game. So by my count that's 2 cruisers and an escort and I'm sure Sci captains at the time may have been asking "Where's the love?" My point is that in the last several months from Winter even till the end of this event, I'd have to say that they've been pretty diverse, and lets also remember the speculation of the carrier that's suppose to be awarded with the upcoming feature episode. If that is what we end up getting there's no telling what class it will cater to the most. So you already had the ships they were giving for free this week, that's life, and nothing to get bent out of shape about because you didn't get a substitute in their place.
Please do not read into this more than you should. Where does it say in my statement that they owe me a ship or anything. I have complete understand that it is FREE items that their is no obligation to get anything at all. Diversifying the ship choices is a good way to ensure everyone gets a ship. Love it when your around when they do give always. The above is good for events love it. For those people just starting the game do not have access to those. My suggestion is to still mix it up a bit to ensure every class has a chance at that time to get a something. As i said to the other person its like having a popcorn party and half the people cant eat it. If you put out a bowl of chips its a greater chance that the other half can eat chips, that's all
I own 90% of all federation ships. There are only two ships I'm missing. So the chance of not getting any free ship is high. What i saw were the same class of ships being offered. If they did science one day with the nova and engineering galaxy I could not say a thing even though i have those ships already. They mixed it up.

You admit to titling your thread in an inflammatory way, and then ask the devs to change the way they give us free stuff because you didn't get anything good... and then when someone challenges your notion, or calls you out on your title choice, you call them trolls.
Obviously, what Cryptic did was choose things that not many people bought (in other words, they would not lose many sales if they gave them away), and tried to get itself some good will from the community by having a giveaway. They aren't looking for suggestions for another giveaway. They probably just looked at a profit spreadsheet showing the lowest-performing things on the C-Store, and gave away a bunch of stuff from the bottom rungs.
Shrug and move on, that's all you can do.

They didn't have to give out nothing at all. Im completely aware of that. That's not my point. The idea was a suggestion to ensure that groups from other class can get a ship. Your telling me I cant suggest anything. That not your call to do that. If you do not like my suggestion that's your view and i can respect that. As i stated in the title it was only and attention grabber. I just think its polite to do what I suggested. its called manners. As I said before if you had a party and you know 50% of the people could not each pop corn would ya only serve popcorn. NO. hopefully you would have a some chips out. That is the way i was raised.
Here's where your analogy falls flat:
You compare Cryptic's giveaway with having a party. That's not right.
If I host a party and invite people, then it's on me to be a good host and ensure people have fun, and are fed. STO is Cryptic's party; they've provided ships for everyone, and provided content.
The giveaway was more like a party favor. A bag full of noisemakers, or freebies as you come in the door. Completely nonessential to the party, but people can enjoy them nonetheless. If someone doesn't care, they can just toss 'em away. If they like them, great. That's all.
You're expecting more from it than you should. That's what people are trying to tell you. Cryptic didn't want to "feed" everyone, they wanted to throw some stuff out and if you like it, great. If not, it was free and costs you nothing to turn it down. Whatever.
I respect your opinion. At my party their is a variety.

Sure sounds like you think someone owes you something.
And there will be some at that party. Claiming the same thing as you are here. Where is my Free "X" item. Here let me suggest something better since you didn't make the party like how I want it.

This says it all as well. So why fuss over something where you have around 10% or less chance of getting something you don't have. The game makers don't have time to read everyone's purchase of a game. Then figure out what item to bring out for a gift. Your not the only one that didn't get a ship.
Bottom line, any gift gave out. Someone will be unhappy. At least I took it on a positive side.
