I'd really like to join - perhaps get some folks to support BCTC in the process.
Just need a place where theres no politics, angst and people that are friendly. Don't see that much around these days. People always at each others throws. I use to think it was just me, but not so sure about it anymore. People ate so busy with petty squabbles that they miss a good thing staring them in the face IMO.
Thanks everyone for the support so far. We are growing strong... well over 100 people in the Club now at this point.
I have been away more then I would like with personal issues. However there has been a great strong group of folks keeping challange matches popping.
I had the chance to get in on a couple great matches last night... and I am very pleased to see so many people having a great time in TD matches.
Thanks for all the help everyone that has helped make this thing what is has been so far.
To everyone that has yet to join... pop on in... and when you see us inviting you along in Organizedpvp please come and join and see what its all about.

Have you decided to rename it something that makes it sound like a club, instead of some in-joke theme that only people from Opvp or these forums are going to get? Maybe even something that can be found by the average user who isnt on either of these places? Tyler Durden is a name of a fictional character it makes no sense to name a channel that for any reason at all.
Not to mention it cant possibly get credibility from the devs with a name that is most likely a registered trademark of another company, or at least their intellectual property.
I think that what you are doing is great, and I look forward to joining a community just like this one. Named something more appropriate. - Are you up to the challenge of dealing with how many people would get on board if it wasnt named somehting completely vague?

I think the whole point of the channel was to associate with that particular film wasn't it?
On a different note, as a new member of the channel, i haven't had this much fun in ages - balancing matches against each other and duking it out is what PvP is all about.

Unfortunately there is no option in this game to rename a channel.
The channel would need to be destroyed, and people would need to re-join.
The channel is still young, so it might not do too much damage - on the other hand its not a good idea to kick a project in the jewels once it has a bit of impetus.
"Pew Club" might have been a more general choice. :P
- If this is your first night at pew club, you have to pew.
Ya I know the name doesn't lend itself to people just joining at random... and honestly I sort of like that.
I don't really want a ton of people joining randomly not knowing what they are getting into.
The channel isn't private of course and anyone is welcome to join... I do like that people don't really join with out knowing what it is we are trying to do though.
So far I have gotten lots of PMs from people saying things like... hey my friend told me about this channel and they said X or Y... you don't mind me joining do you ? lol
The effect so far has been pretty much just as I hoped with people seeing it as a underground fight club that is a semi secret or something.
Ya no option to rename it and we are close to 150 people now so I won't be destroying it and remaking it I don't think... its just a name. Its also hard to miss convos going on in the TD channel.
I know it can be quite for large chunks of the day... it takes effort to get matches rolling in the TD style... and so far I would have to really thank a small handful of guys that have been getting matches started pretty regular. Zenith is a machine and has been starting matches for large chunks of the day pretty much everyday.
I think the whole point of the channel was to associate with that particular film wasn't it?
On a different note, as a new member of the channel, i haven't had this much fun in ages - balancing matches against each other and duking it out is what PvP is all about.
glad to hear you have been having so much fun Naz. I feel bad you have asked me to pew a few times and I haven't had the time. lol
I started the channel at an odd time for myself... been lucky that a bunch of people have been running with the idea.
Y
The channel isn't private of course and anyone is welcome to join... I do like that people don't really join with out knowing what it is we are trying to do though.
I respect that you are running this as an open channel, however a conversation 'erupted' last night and several players basically brought the typical OPvP issues (non-fleet stuff) into TD channel.
My recommendation is:
Channel is made private
Access is granted upon simple request, no other requirements on ship/build/fleet/ability, etc., are made.
Simple, clear rules for general behavior in the channel are set, with everyone starting at a 'clean slate' as per your discretion.
What this would do is create a slightly bigger step to joining, but if you can't handle sending an in-game mail or message to someone you probably have no business PvPing in this type of environment in the first place.
On the other hand it would allow the channel to remain free of the typical OPvP rabble rousing that some players seem to thrive off of.
Well they could do it, but then they'd get banned.
Not sure if that would help, I also posted a breakdown on how to form random teams using that tool in Naz's current country/STOlympics tournament thread: here.
Good points USS.... ya I have left things pretty open in the channel so far... hoping that just telling people they are not there fleets would sink in. lol
I have given a small handful of people like Zenith mod access just in case... of course we haven't setup any hard rules. Perhaps I should just start the convo in channel one night when we seem to have a good number of people on.
I would like to keep it public but perhaps at somepoint a switch to private might make sense.
On the random team tool... that is cool of course it wouldn't be to much different then the que... still might be fun to just do completely random matches one night and see how bad it ends up. lol
What would be really great for team matching (I know sometimes it can take awhile... its hard with all the things to think about in trying to balance the games out sometimes) is if Cryptic helped us out... and added to the challenge match window a indication of Ship Type and Captain type in the lobby. At that point we would only have to ask about annoyance loads and perhaps skill level to make sure we don't put to many green pvpers on one team ect.
On the random team tool... that is cool of course it wouldn't be to much different then the que...
Well my idea in that thread is to really use it for a broader tournament "random" team design, but you would be allocating teams based on a cookie cutter concept.(i.e. you enter all the Tacs or Escorts first, click random. Then do healers, click random but use the same team names, etc.)
It's probably a lot more work than the kind of informal, and quickly formed teams this channel is looking to do.
Obviously cryptic giving us a tool to sort this out would be best, but what about some simple team forming guidelines?

Nice channel, ive been in a few matches or two. Better then pugstomping.
I am a bit worried though cuz some player whos also in the channel (hes even talking in this thread as we speak) consistently pulled talons on me and my teammates the other day in a normal arena match. I hope thats not the standard procedure in Tyler.
Cheers!
Oh for anyone whho doesnt know what pulling off a talon means: Deliberately logging off and back on every time he/she is close to death. lol
All of the better matches I've been in lately have been from TD.
I am particularly happy with the ones I've joined that the host is setting some ground rules for their match (no AMS, Grav Pulse, Elachi Rift)... there has been some pushback from a few players... but in general well received. It takes a little to get the match going... but they are rarely stomp matches, generally close, and hard fought.
The level of Sportsmanship is higher in the TD matches as well.... something I am very happy to see.

hell yeah some people ressist.its a good right, and i prefer to use my rights:D
and now its just ams/gravwell, i can understand that, and as most already know, the whole new elachi console qqing is a thing i laugh about each time i get a change. i agree with ams and grav well, but, what if someone gets pissed cuz he gets killed by rommie drone's? and by ewp? there will be a time we spend more time voting then playing..cuz someone doesnt like something, so everyone has to agree with that dictatorship rules.other then that, yeah td is oke
dont get me wrong td is kinda oke, but still, the most players are still in opvp, td is also kinde quiet sometime's....
If its quite feel free to start up some matches yourself.
Of course we aren't going to have conversations going on all day... the aim isn't to replace Opvp.
well not quite like no one talks, more quite that when someone asks for a match, or asks if people are up for a match, no one leave's a response, or that those people who are subscribed are not online, that kinda quite XD

Fair enough... ya we are still growing... I hope over the next few weeks we can double in subs that should help with that somewhat.
It is funny though that at times I see someone setting up a TD match... and its quite... and 5 min later someone in Opvp asked for people to X up for a pug stomp and it fills in 30s flat. lol I guess there just mark farming.
admittedly i have only had a few matches in TD but they were all well organized and very close matches I reccomend joining this channel if you hate waiting in pvp q for ages and your are sick of pug stomping or being stomped by a premade in the q
I just finished 2 or three matches after being invited by a fellow player who also enjoyed their fleet ambassador. I have not, in a long time, had that much fun in pvp matches. The matches were mostly balance, they were orderly and fun, and I honestly felt that my engineer actually had a place of usefulness on the team. These were very close too, at least within 5 points of one another.
Officially my favorite channel, no ego no drama. Just chillax and pew pew, with some jokes on the side.

Or they want to be able to compete against other pugmades/premades/fleets that are most likely in the queues. I don't understand why you would help build up team oriented pvp with one hand and knock it down with the other. There's no need to insult people that are using OPvP for what it is meant for. Why not challenge them to a match with some TD'ers instead of chastise them? Also, not everyone that is in OPvP is in Tyler Durden, so it's more than likely that most of them did not see the message in TD.

I was around for the said event. We had almost a full group in queue and on TS. The message was sent to OPVP and other channels. As soon as the message came in OPVP for a pugstomp the x's came flying in.
That is the issue with PVP. Everyone wants quick and easy kills to feel special instead of challenging themselves.

Its simple TD is for players NOT fleets... if you want to bring a 5 man premade team into TD you don't really get the point.
When we form games in TD we pretty much always ask if anyone wants to come along in Opvp... we invite anyone that comes that isn't in TD to join the channel afterwards of course.
It does sadden me that you don't seem to understand the point of TD.... you are not your fleet, you are not your premade. I didn't make that comment to offend anyone... but frankly the teams I see forming are almost never forming to fight other 5 man teams... they are forming to que up... if there really is another team in the ques... why are both parties not using Opvp for its intended purpose and skipping the que completely ?
Hope you guys pop in for some more TD style matches in the future. You don't need 5... if there are just a few of you that jump in it really doesn't matter... we balance out the matches so we can all enjoy some pvp... enjoy shooting at each other for awhile... and honestly do a little bonding over some STO pvp... I don't care if your NC or Panda or Lag 12th or any other fleet... we are all players and setting up TD matches is more fun then all the hyper EGO bs 5 man junk that most of the pvp base in this game has been doing for far to long.
Just a request Husanak, are we allowed to ask if there is a team available to fight instead of pug smashing in TD?
The queues are either feast of kills or being pug stompped. Not much fun at all. And poco, hmmmmm...
There are no real rules in TD... if you have 5 people in TD and want to fight a team from Opvp of course feel free... I just hope that the majority of people understand what it is I wanted to start with TD.... and keep the majority of what happens in TD in the fight club everyone comes everyone fights line of thinking.
If we end up just being another channel for 5 man premades to find other 5 man premades well what is the point really... where not trying to be Opvp2.

I think opvp lost it's meaning a long time ago..... Now it's just a social brag parlour so to speak.. Proof: Look at people online in the channel and then compare it to the queues or look at whose chatting and see who is actually spewing.
One thing I really like about the channel is the lack of bs and the freshness of the attitudes in it. Everyone is just their for a good fight
Joined channel late last night. Looking forward to a match. Thanks for setting up this channel, sounds great.
A couple favorite TD quotes:
"You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your ****ing khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing TRIBBLE of the world."
"I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
"In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway."
Just to clarify if you come in with your fleets leet 5 man premi, expect members to be moved around between teams after the first match should teams require balancing for even fun matches

When you are agreeing to play in a match that will end 15 14 best case... you have to expect to die a few times.
If this is happening consistent I will remove people from the channel.
