Usually when loading the character fails, you are prompted to do a Safe Login or Normal Login, have you tried to choose Safe Login?
Yeah, that's not the issue. I am able to log in on my other characters. Just not the romulan I started last night. I filed a ticket with tech support but they were incredibly unhelpful... basically said I'd probably have to delete my character.
Doesn't sound like a big deal since it was a new character, right? Except that I had just transferred 4 million ec onto the character, along with a rechargeable shields battery worth 89 million ec. Oh well, guess that's just my problem, right?
Same issue here. Gets to 94.05 then server not reponding. This is only happening on my main charracter, the one with all the time and money put into it. The irony here is that I came here from playing games run by a horrible company, that company is starting to look really good right now.

this happend to me. unlike you though i never did put a ticket in i just sorta stopped playing sto for like a week or so.
i decided i would play again but i would put a ticket in on another character or something. But just for giggles i logged on to my main character. and i was back in sector space.
there must be some place these characters go and when some tech guy sees it i'm sure they restore it best they can. I didn't lose anything either.
i'm sure its an extreamly rare issue. and almost impossible to replicate considering what goes into it actually happening. the perfect storm of server issues and bugs. When my character got stuck it was when new romulus was launched.

If they genuinely can't restore characters when this happens, they should not allow anyone to log on to the server until they correct the issue. Everyone's characters could potentially be at risk.

i just noticed but you never posted this thread in the bug report area which is looked at daily for issues.

if this keeps happening i have a feeling that STO is going to go down hill really fast on an icy hill with no brakes.

This just happened to me, though it happened before the server went down for the last patch (8:30 EST).
Before the server went down though, I had just bought the Tactical Escort (level 30 promotion), and noticed strange theings when I undocked from ESD. I couldn't move my ship though I set to full power, and none of my skill slots had anything in them. I then hit warp to sector map, and then I got stuck at 91%, and restarted the client where I was still stuck. Server went down and my character is still stuck.

Support has done nothing but issue canned responses.
This has been happening to me since they did the emergency patches.... However i can creat a new toon and get in, i just can play any toon that already exist
I'll interpret your curiosity over my posting habits as genuine concern and empathy over the corruption of a fellow player's character data.
Like i said it happened to me. but now that i realize its the same issue. the only reason tech support isn't doing anything and customer service won't compensate you yet. is because developers are attempting to fix the issue.
the important thing is.. they know about it. that's a very good thing and they are makign it very public.
if they can't fix it. i can almost garuntee you. you will get your stuff back. or at the very least be provided with a gracious zen bonus.
It appears to only affect toons that were in SOL or went there at some certain point. The problem is they are spending all their time fixing in game bugs and leaving us on the back burner. I highly doubt they will even seriously look at our issue until next week when they get the people who are in the game situated. It is just business, or as they say "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few".
Just logged in after the patch. My character is STILL stuck on a map transition with "server not responding". I notice Brandon took this issue off of the header, but it's still broken.
Brandon, can you please provide an update on this? Earlier today you indicated it was being looked into.
This hit me right before the maintenance. I was having fun with my new Romulan too, but now I can't play. Hits 94, then loses the server. Work on my other two characters, but not the Romulan.

I did something even better! I filed a tech support ticket last night when I first realized there was an issue.
I also posted multiple times today in the following thread (you can see Brandon popped in to let us all know that Cryptic's top men were on it... Top... Men...).

What do you expect them to do if their tech team is aware of the issue and working on it? Write you a personal message stating the same thing?
The team continues to investigate an issue where some players may be stuck on a loading screen. We appreciate your continued patience!

try disconnecting your router
I hope so. They can keep the Zen. I just want the gear and ec I had on the character.
I can log into all of my characters except the one I created last night.
