Omg I forgot the name I picked a week ago, now I'll have to sit for another hour to rethink it... this could be fixed if I could use the same name for my liberated Rom as my Liberated Fed.
you could always put a . and the end of the name...
I used to play Eve Online years ago. Those patchdays were pure hell and afterwards the game was completely unstable, so unstable that undocking was tantamount to suicide. Patchdays improved slightly over the years.
So far been playing STO for about two weeks. I've got to ask, but rather afraid of the answer; how bad can this get?
i am going to have a hard time leaving this thread when that little dot turns green.. this has been so entertaining. can we get two or three more tantrums in before the servers come up?
Isnt it strange that when a new expansion comes out for all mmo's all you get is moan moan moan in the forum "COME ON DEVS etc" But if they put servers online to early with too many bugs who would moan??? you got it! the moany people that are telling the Devs to hurry! just be patient. The servers will be up when they are ready.
I bet the maintainance was over in the usual 2 hours and the devs just are having a field day wrap party without annoying users - playing without lag and shooting each other and all
... within a half hour's time, the influx of players does have the potential to slow things down.
What game have you been playing? My experience says it is more likely that the
influx of players will cause the server to crash due to "unexpected network load",
or an "unexpected sudden failure of our ISP across all our game servers".

At best all we get is a tiny bit of lag and 3 to 7 sec timeout warnings during loading, nothing really nasty. At worst we will have bungee lag, be kicked, log on, play for five min, get kicked again, notice the servers are down for five min, then get on again. Rince, repeat, cycle.

The user formerly known as Khern!
I hate the fact Perfect World force-joined STO and PW accounts...

Sounds survivable, esp on normal difficulty. How's the games history with rollback and the other really really scary stuff?

You are unique.
Just like everybody else.

Just sayin' :-)
Let's get to playing Legacy of Romulus...
...when the maintenance ends. I know it's a lot of data, but why give times for the update when no-one sticks to them...
