Well one things for sure, we won't have the pokemon adaptation or the startrek card game coming out, nor will you have to worry about whether you character will adjusted every patch because someone at the devs office has a problem because pretty much they all play tacticals and we all know they won't balance around anything else, so no constant respecs are coming like they do on that "other" title. And you won't be stuck spending a year on getting the reputation up to max because the reps are actually easy on this game.
Not sure how there's an issue with a F2P title adding a new faction like this, there's plenty of positives.

No issue at all, just find somethings amusing is all. Also you just reminded me I still have some of my old Star Trek TCG packs somewhere around, I should go look for them and play a few rounds with the wife.
Like the Romulan Alliance System? Of course you do, it sounds fine to you because you aren't Romulans, you're FED or KDF who are going to make a Romulan alt, it makes a HUGE difference in perspective.
It IS your own faction. Try reading the entire article before harping on one specific thing- They note that the Romulan Faction has continued -ROMULAN- specific content even after you ally with the Feds or KDF.
You aren't joining the Federation or KDF. You just gain access to some of their ships and stuff as part of your alliance with whichever government your character deems most beneficial to the Republic.

I have to admit that I was a little disappointed to hear that the Romulans would not have their own Fleet Bases but what Cryptic has done makes sense from a story stand point.
The part of the ally system that confuses me is what benefits will the KDF or Federation get from having Romulan Allies.
Will Fed and KDF that are allied with Romulans have access to Romulan ships and special consoles?
It will be quite strange to see Romulan vessels in orbit around Qo'noS

Yeah but i want to fight fed and kdf ! i don't want to be federation/klingon pet
I'm totally with you...I guess they were rushing through all the development and they had to make some concessions. They do get an "A" for trying but an "F" for what is getting accomplished.
How can Romulans who are MORTAL enemies of KDF be ending up running around the streets of Q'onos as if they are dearest buddies....they are the fiercest enemies . Doesn't make sense or even joining Federation whom they were always suspicious of.
Now its more confusing since FEDs/KDF might fly ROM ships boxes but no the other way around...This is just not logical. A FULL FACTION might have been a much better idea rather than to rush a product
Did Mr Stahl drop a bomb in the ask Cryptic letting out that the Romulan "Faction" is not going to be a independent faction - but an ally of either the Fed or KDF at lvl 50
Romulans - line up those green shirts - for Redshirts.
You didn't actually read it did you? We aren't a full faction if we have to pick sides in a war effectively starting a civil war in the Romulan Republic, and oh yeah we can't create fleets only Federation or Klingon fleets.

This is really a good thing for the Klingons. Honestly, Mine will be probably joining the Klingons, even though my main is a fed. Though, my fleet has a fleet on each faction.

Well it makes me happy in the sense that I dont have to add a 3rd Starbase to the feeding ground.
Maybe later but a Romulan Starbase would be problematic as it would divert attention from KDF and Fed Starbases that are struggling and would just downright kill a lot of Fleets and later would die as the treadmill is just too much.
Maybe later, the whole Fleet system needs to be altered so ease the grind and until then we might as well have this at this point.

By that logic they should ban Klingons from New Romulus or from advancing in Romulan rep, though!
Eh. Klingons are probably perfectly willing to take in Romulans as cannon fodder, if nothing else, I'm sure. And these are the New Romulus Romulans, so they're already more peaceful than the others.
More of a 'neutral faction unless bespoken otherwise, later, for the sake of PvP' than say an actual pandering. And like another has said before me- I find Starfleet's issue of ruling a flawed system, by being often prone to its own irony, as well as hypocrisy.
The Imperial Empire, however, while tempered in brutality- is still at most points: honourable, honest and at least occasionally memorable with it's ideals, to which it follows.
So unless the happenstance recollection that the Federation is like Starcraft's Zerg in it's population density and my main fleet is within the faction, 'tis remembered- I will have to settle with my usual Defense Force compatriots still, come May.

This is just a method for the Federation and KDF to repay those debts for undisrupted access to Romulan technology.
You didn't think it would be all free did you?

I don't think it will be so bad has it was also stated that Romulans will still have their own level 1-50 exclusive content to level with.

And while you may be able to use your advanced Fed or KDF base, it also means that anyone who wanted a pure Romulan side isn't getting it.
