Well, if they did that, people would probably use at least one beam on it or forego an Ensign power. More of a tradeoff for using 5 cannons, really.
when i use my armitage i got twin Tac team 1's and torp hy 1 as my 3 ensign slots, sure i lose a little with one torp, but twin tac teams keeps my shield facings good and keeps borg boarding parties off my ship in STFs.
i'd probably use a similar setup with this ship. probably even have torp spread 2 in the lt slot so i could have better chaining torp attacks.
4 canons and a torp upfront would be better imho when it comes to 5 fore weapons on an escort. especially with the wing canons and their higher drain.
Fair enough. Looking again, I think this ship probably could stand a hull nerf and I think the universal station should be Tac instead of universal, to force low survivability.
Forcing more lower tac doesn't just cut into survivability, it cuts into damage output.
This is because most torpedoes are terrible (in PvP) against any even mildly decent opponent, have too high an opportunity cost (lower consistent damage through losing a DHC, no space for consoles or futher consistent damage loss by splitting your consoles - effectively rainbowing your build) and cost too much in skill ranks when taking into consideration the above.
DBBs aren't in as bad a situation, but that many tac stations is still just overdoing it.
Dreadnought class. Two times the size, three times the speed. Advanced weaponry. Modified for a minimal crew. Unlike most Federation vessels, it's built solely for combat.
please tell me more about how are you plan to survive an elite STF with only one ensign engineer and a lieutenant science officer
Team healz for the win, methinks.

"I really hope that phaser dispersal array looks that impressive in actual combat, that'll be killer to see. She's a beauty and a beast Cryptic, kudos to your Advanced Starship Design Bureau you guys did great. Will you guys ever offer other weapons types for the super weapons on board? Not that I have a problem with phasers their my preferred type."
On another note, I tried to post that on the actual blog and the site told me to keep the comment relevant to the thread. You guys need to give your website's comment control algorithms and attitude adjustment, can't even pay a compliment.
Anyway, can't wait to see her in action it looks awesome. And nice move allowing the special weapons to be affected by BOFF abilities this time, that's a great three piece bonus.
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
Just imagine the tears if the KDF got something like this we wouldn't even have to use it. The game would just short out over so many tears of the thought of it
Biggest thing makes me laugh when people cry about PvP and using the word OP... This game has no PvP its just a bunch of death matches. I could see how it may appeal to some people who weren't doing internet gaming in the 80's and 90's but some of us older gamers if we go in its such a bore.
Is it just me or do the Andorian starships look too short? It seems like the original Kumari design was noticeably more stretched, whereas these seem to have their tails condensed and their necks removed.
I don't play KDF myself, it just does not entertain me. That being said, all on KDF side is nicely designed and the first city is a real beauty!
I can understand all warriors complaining about no new ship for their side. I know this is a bit off topic, but have a look at neverwinter and the first comments, there is only one fraction, what leads to one thought:
Will the next update, formaly known as Season 8, be the "Big Merge"?
It really seems the KDF just means a waste of Dev time for the devs themselfs, otherwise they would take care!

Nope ... It's "Under the Raptor Wings" and likely will be a Romulan faction. Several other hints (like a comment that they will turn out more ships with the May update than ever before) support that speculation.

Cryptic , for the TRIBBLE-th time , please split the skill tree between PVP/PVE so your latest shiny does not *once again* break everything .
Also for the record , 1 year ago the Bug ship was introduced and broke PVP by being OP .
Now comes this ship .
Is it safe to surmise that this is how the cycle toward a new level will operate (?) -- as in once a year the power level will be pushed to the next level , making some/much of what we have obsolete ?
Hmm, whilst the game itself suffers a slow death and decline into tedium and grind every so often Cryptic throw out a ship and those who have not been playing long enough or are simply oblivious to the state of the game jump for joy.
Ensure boring content is updated or that we have grind less of it to get rewards
Freeze or decrease currency input costs
Fix several UI issues
Ensure lockboxes are ancillary to the aim of developing real content
Fix the major issues with small fleets and fleet scaling
Treat your players properly
All the things that need fixing and all we get is ships and boxes.
I will not be buying this just like I didn't buy the Vesta, in addition I find it simply laughable that both the Vesta and D'Kyr don't have unique bridges and this does.
Especially with regards to the D'Kyr. Nothing looks more amateurish than a developer producing slap-dash half finished items and leaving them to rot. Clearly no pride taken on the craft and it's just about churning out products for the gullible to buy.
Tell me if you went to Car Showroom and you saw two cars made by the same company one with an interior and one without what would think about the consistency, build quality and professionalism of the car manufacturer?
Honestly I would like to see new ships as part of a game that is actually enjoyable and I'd like those ships to at least be finished and not released half-baked.

I'm sorry, but the D'kyr argument is just revisionist history. This is a ship that was released years ago. No C-store (and yes, it was still the C-store back then) ships got bridges, you had to buy them separately (either from things like the Enterprise bundle, or individual bridge costumes).
I'm far from Cryptic's biggest fan, but reaching that far back to try and prop up an already legitimate argument (any ship pack charging 50 dollars for better damn well include some interiors) in the Vesta lacking a bridge just undercuts your whole position.

So where is the D'Kyrs separate purchasable bridge then?
Whether the ship has a bridge included or a bridge a separate purchase is irrelevant all you're doing is splitting the zen between two components of the overall product. However as I have said they didn't produce a purchasable bridge pack so once again as I stated it's half baked and unfinished.
Let's stay on topic, please. This thread is not about Season 8 nor is it about the D'Kyr.

I though the Andorian ship was supposed to be a beam broadside ship, another lie
No. They're making those for the new Romulan Faction ships. And the Fek'hiri Lockbox ships on the KDF side. Weren't you paying attention? Wishstone locked the thread but I think Stormshade posted about it anyways.
Please keep your posts on topic. If you want to contribute your voice to the feedback on the Fleet Marks issue, please keep in mind multiple PWE folks are following this thread:
My sci alternates between my Fleet Intrepid, Vesta and Nova (Rhode Island Variant) - I suspect that my sci will be fighting alongside numerous Andorian ships over the next few days.
And therein lies two predictable outcomes - firstly, failed STF's resulting from some players, in their shiny new ships, thinking that new ship and new powers = 'I Win'.
Second predictable outcome - Said players will begin to sulk when they realise that their shiny new ship, whilst powerful, can't take a hit and they'll go the way of the Vesta (namely still a few around, but no-where near the numbers there were shortly after it was released).
And predictable outcome 2a: the forum will be flooded with posts, from people who registered on the forum simply to moan about their ship's lack of win.
But in fairness, the Andorian ships look fantastic and I have little doubt that some players will make some extremely effective builds and I very much look forward to seeing THOSE players/ships in STF's etc! Am undecided on whether to purchase one (or the set) for my tac though, because for the amount I've spent on ships recently I could have brought a lifetime sub and am biding my time for the next lifetime sub sale.
maybe i'll jump in a few pug stf's with my Oddy or Galaxy class and heal the smurfs
(btw if Cryptic nerfs this ship, can we call it a smurf .)
Cryptic you Smurf my ship!! now it sings a Happy song.
.
And its lack of PvP viability is, on the whole, something to be thankful for.
Is it ?
At best, you might see some lucky kills but it's outclassed for PvP by a number of ships, including the Fleet Tactical Escort and, I'd argue, even the Mirror Universe Prometheus and the Armitage.
Perhaps , for now .
But if you go back 1 year and see the introduction of the 5 console ship with the Bug , followed by the Oddy , followed by a slew of others , you can recognize trend setting .
I strongly suspect that this ship is another trend setter .
Sure , it sticks out like a rusty nail now , but wait 6 months .
I'll be surprised if there are no more of these types of ships flying about .
I'll also point to another issue .
I think Cryptic does not intend to take this game anywhere past Lvl 60 .
And that to me means that they have to shove as much ... -- I believe ppl call it "power creep" under the hood of T5 as they can manage -- even if T5 was not designed initially to face such an over-the-top powers .
If this keeps up , soon you will have ships that will shred Tac cubes just as we now can shred normal cubes .
Back in the day (pre-S5 STF's) , even a normal cube took some time to blow up .
Now they can tweak the back end powers so end-game foes seem to remain relevant , but we both know you can only pile so many layers on top of a cake until it starts to look lopsided ... , and no amount of back end manipulation is going to change that .
Right now we're getting Moar Power , and players seem to think that's awesome -- but it isn't really .
If they will not up the level cap , we will get to a point where we will be the equivalent of the fat man who can't get off the chair .
So where is the D'Kyrs separate purchasable bridge then?

Well, if you want, they could always establish a new precedent by giving the Vesta a bridge but then going back and making two variants of all single purchase ships with 3 packs in place for all ships or all ships that don't have a fleet version.
This 3 pack is going to be the STO equvalent of bananas dipped in chocolate sauce. Tasty Treat Dishing out Epic Beats! I'll never have to fly another ship again on any of my toons. I'll be superior DEEPS, while chilling in any PVE map. The enemy won't know what hit it.
I'm planning on naming my ship the Paradox or Inside Joke. With a Vulcan captain. And a human crew. And using the IGV prefix.
Heck yeah!
Or maybe the IGV Pappa Smurf. That way when all those KDF Gargamels try to pop my mushroom in the pee vee pees, I can just show them exactly what it means when Branflakes says this ship is a flying gun!
