Originally when I saw this thing I thought "holy TRIBBLE. it's OP" then I saw it's turn rate of 16 and figured, ok.. now it's slightly OP.. with the tac one being.. "LOL Really? 3 Tac officer slots?" Which makes that variant balanced.
In my opinion how ever, the best of the three is a tie between the Engi and the Sci one. Especially if you take into account the Sci one has 4 Sci consoles. Add that in with the new Embassy Consoles and you can have some nasty effects from not only Tet Glider, but plasma burns, or even extra defenses from Hull or shield procs.
When it comes to pure firepower, this ship is looking nasty.. Not sure what it's toys will bring..
In terms of Maneuverability, the JHAS how ever is still king.

Well, I guess I'm gonna buy it, but I wish they'd done more than just two 'your cannons can shoot really big' consoles. Already I'm thinking that outside of a specialized build I won't be running the Kumari version- the third tac boff (ensign) is all kinds of garbage IMO, and I say that as a fleet tac retro player. The LT universal is nice, but it means that your survivibility is way down the tubes- which I guess they were aiming for. I suppose if you made an all eng focused build, it might be viable, but sticking sci in the LTC is... well there's your alpha strike to consider I suppose.

I'd go with EPtS1, HE1, and TSS2 myself. I run that on my Fleet Defiant...well, with an RSP1.
Man, I thought the Tactical Escort Retrofit had a bad BOFF layout.
Well I was gonna spend 20mil ec on a fleet patrol escort, but looks like cryptic took the kumari to the c-store! Planning on getting the pack, but think I'm leaning toward the engineered edged ship, and might run something like this:
5 DHCs
2 Turrets
Borg shield, and either omega or Borg deflc and engine
Standard escort turn hull and shield... extra forward weapons slot.... the slots to make it a turning beast. 4 sci consoles.... ya this thing with some leach and a maco will pretty much own. I love the look of the Andorian ships and am glad to see it.... not really sure what they are thinking with at the 5 forward cannons though.... thanks to things like the KCB this thing is going to be very complained about in pvp.... the pve kids are going to love it... cubes will blow up in seconds even if you stick beams on it.
I know others have said it as well... but Where the HE double hockey sticks is the klink comparison ship. The klinks are left even more in the dust on this one. For a warrior race they are really really bad at keeping up with this stuff. Klinks need a new escort... NOT a raptor version... Perhaps its time to see a Leathen ship. I can't think of any examples from the show... really though if not them some Klingon faction race can surely come up with something to please there blood thirsty overlords.

i hear on ts that a crusier really does not make out on 8 beams. just 7. its either the 8th beam does not shoot or something about cd issue? now the same logic of something i dont understand will be applyed to the 5th dhc?

i guess some say it's caused by energy drain from beams (+the fact that bo drains all weapons energy).
so the 8th does minor damage. no clue how a ship with 5 dhc will behave.

One could look at how the Mirror ships were done - Feds got 6 kitbash/skins for ships the already had while KDF got 3 new ships, so to speak. Then there were the Fleet ships. Both sides got Anniversary ships...
Just looking at the base damage my weapons have, 5 DHCs with 4 tac consoles is better damage than my current 4 DHCs with 5 tac consoles. I'm not sure how much the additional power drain would affect it though.

the only problem with running 8 beams is the power drain, if your not doing something to overcap, you might as well just use 7 beams or less. having a base power of about 125, and adding EPtW on top of it is absolutely required to make 8 beams do anything. or 2 copies of AtB so that has full uptime and is always boosting weapons power too. as far as not fireing goes, ive never seen that be the case, each of the 8 beams has its own hardpoint, you can see if all 8 fire or not.
i doubt there will be any trouble fireing cycle wise
Just wanted to answer a few of the questions I've seen on this thread.
1. The Wing Cannons have a higher base DPS than Mk XII DHCs, but their energy drain is even higher (15). They have a very slow rate of fire and a cooldown between shots; they're essentially like "super" heavy cannons. They're listed as having [DMG]X4, but that's just to give you a ballpark figure, since there isn't really anything directly comparable. They're really more like an entirely new weapon type.
I'm aware Accuracy is more popular among most players than raw damage, but damage was thematically appropriate for these cannons.
so, an even more DHCtastic DHC. you know how that fireing cycle even more then the dps is what makes DHCs so effective right? well this is gunna be like that, but only even beter!
in a game were pressure is on life support, spike gets yet another boost! it already got about 4 boosts from this ship alone.
