I went back to my Vo'Quv for a bit and tried out some different strategies, I found it was a better ship than my jemmy dread because of the BoP and how well they held aggro while I was able to mop up a tac cube in ISE.

the jemmy dread needs these damn frigate pets to be unlocked for all!

I too am back with my Vo'Quv after a month or so in the Recluse also because of the ABOP.

I've yet to unpack the Dread still do to the fact that its Frigate is still being foolishly locked away from me by Cryptic.

If ever there was a Carrier that could use the benefit of having Hanger support that can draw some argo off of it its the Dreadnought.

I discovered after finally getting both the new Jem'Hadar ships that for some reason we are required to also some how also get the Jem'Hadar attack ship to get the new Dill store attack ship fighter.

Am I the only one that has a problem with this? Is this some error?

If it is not a bug or error, then why are we now required to obtain the impossible ship just to be able to acquire these Jem'Hadar attack ship fighters for the new Dread Carrier?

learn to read DEV release notes.

    Yeah,

I knew all about the gating of the Attack ships when Cryptic made the announcement and I was vocal against it then.

Just because someone announces something does not mean that we must all accept it.

I could be wrong, but I think he's referring to reading the Dev post that says they're working on bringing the JAS back for another round of availability.

nah it was a response to a post stating they didn't know the JHAS-H pets were locked away, and a dev blog explained that it was.

he was basically telling him to go read it.

another short sighted individual here, who doesnt see that this will prolly start happening to ALL ships....

the ends (more $$) justify the means (locking vital shipparts away)

next patch u have to pay to unlock half ur boffs. or weaponslots. or consoles.....

This is not a solution. The Bug will end up costing more than the Dreadnaught no matter what.

I don't want to fly a Bug. The only reason to own one for me is to unlock the Dreadnaught's pets. This is worth about 250-500 zen at best. But that makes the Bug too cheap for people that are willing to pay much more to actually fly the ship. The simplest, most logical solution is to simply remove the requirement of owning the Bug in order for people who just want the pets.

Unless they can see a visible loss of revenue from not doing so they will keep the current system most likely, maybe if enough players put some pressure on but most likely they will wait to move on this until after the JHAS is put out for sale again.

Lets face facts here if they put the JHAS out again there will be a lot of Dready-owners for whom the temptation will be to great and who sill subsequently spend a fair amount of money on whatever item the JHAS will be in. I am thinking that is a Pay Day they don't want to miss.

Did anyone else notice this? It seems they are starting a trend on items in the dilithium store that can be equipped on ANY ship but you must own a specific ship first.

    http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=821871

Base Stats (for all Andorian Escorts):
** Upgraded Mk XI Very Rare Andorian Phasers may be purchased from the Dilithium Store only if you own at least one ship from the Kumari Line, and can be equipped on any ship.

First it's the Jem'hadar attack fighter pet, and now ship weapons. What's next, they're going to come out with an EV suit in the Dilithium store that requires you own 1 of the 350k dil suits first?

I don't find the logic in requiring you own a specific ship before you can purchase an item that can be equipped on ANY ship, other than they are trying to coerce people to purchase zen.

yea no see that actually makes sense, seeing as it is an andorian weapon and you need only buy it from the c-store to have full account allowance. I can even buy andorian weapons on my KDF account.

the Jemmy dread however is a different story, first it is a hangar pet that can only be used on the dreadnought itself not the JHAS, second they claim it as a bonus for JHAS owners, well it doesnt effect the JHAS owners who do not have a dread.

the Jemmy hangar bug is one thing, the andorian warship dil store weapons are another.

Just like the galor spiral wave disruptors you need the ship in order to buy more.

now if it had been you need all three to unlock the weapons, then it would be an outrage.
but just one makes sense and is a fair bargin. not to mention they work on any ship.

Actually the first was the Spiral Wave Disruptor that comes with the Galor. If anyone remembers, initially the only way you could get additional SWD was to be lucky enough to get another Galor. They eventually made them available in the Dil store but, you have to have a Galor in order to purchase it. Nobody had any complaints about that. So why complain about the Andorian Phasers. Personally, I could care less about the JHAS hanger pets. I own neither of the ships and most likely never will.

They could always make it to where you have to own the Jem HEC and the Jem dreadnought to get the JHAS fighters which would at least be better but not as good as simply making them available to all dreadnought owners.

I would say a fair compromise would be if any character on the account had the JHAS, then they could purchase the Hanger pet on any character on that account. Weapons would remain as per character.

If you have a Galor, you can use spiral waves on any ship.

If you have an Andorian escort, you can use Andorian weapons on any ship.

What do these to things have in common? On any ship.. You get a unique, expensive ship, and then you can use the nifty bonus you unlocked in any way you want.

Attack ship pets? The Dreadnaught is a unique expensive ship that requires owning a completely different unique expensive ship to unlock an item that has only one possible use: to be used by the Dreadnaught. This is like if the Kumari could not equip any kind of cannon except phaser unless you also owned a temporal science ship, even if you had no interest in the temporal science ship. Oh, and it's a per-character unlock. And the temporal ship costs 500M credits.

    Seem reasonable?

damn right it is, at least a portion of the dev team has been made aware of this, unless that was a fake using the email to send back generic responses and nothing gets done, in which case shame on them.

but either way we are active and we have a threadnought on this issue which has spanned very vastly.

They don't care, if they did they would of posted already ... this threads been up since the 26th of January and has 42 pages, its regular to find it on the front page of the discussion forum with GM one liner joke responses in threads above and bellow it without so much as a single comment in this thread of note.

Cryptic likes to act like its fan friendly and listens to us, it listens when it drastically effects the bottom $, for everything else they use the excuse of "we are busy", if your so busy how come you can find time to constantly drop one liner joke comments all over the forum but you cant respond in threads like this? Bottom line is this is designed to milk more money from people by increasing the demand of an item they can put in the c-store shortly (and or up the sale of keys for credits to buy them) so they don't give a damn how outrageous this limitation is or how it gimps the Dreadnought and punish's none Dread owners alike.

This is yet another slap in the face, and lets be honest my good will is just about at its limit.

last year when I started the "lets put this fed carrier idea to rest" thread which was originally supposed to brainstorm a new form of carrier as to keep the kdf happy, it turned into the largest, longest running thread on the forums at that time.

and the end result, three months later we had the atrox.

if we shout long enough and loud enough it will happen.

and this is a trivial subject compared to an atrox, so it shouldnt take long.

It's obvious that Cryptic does not care about this issue hence the not one responce publicly to our statements about how messed up it is.

But never the less the issue remains and we must keep telling Cryptic and anyone that will listen about how bad we think that Cryptic is handling it.

mainly people who use the thread are a different breed of players.

many use it to show their devotion to the game, others use it to report bugs, some use it to concoct a strange story on how they got all their dilithium stolen and want zen as compensation.

hell there are many who want to put their ideas out there, even some who want to scream nerf.

many come on here to complain.

but no matter what, it is those who are truly devoted to STO as a great game who even bother to post on forums.
