It worked well for me: go to your shuttle bridge and then you can set everything back again.

I dont know if this has been mentioned before but a sure fire fix i've found is to go to a different sector then transwarp to your fleet star base.
Has worked every time for me and its happened to me about 7 or 8 times so far. MAJOR annoyance though, at least the devs have put out a notice telling everyone its being looked in to.
That is no help at all for people who are not in a Fleet so it is not a sure fire fix, just a possible fix for members of Fleets and, perhaps, their invited friends.
And can you tell me where this Dev notice is, please? I certainly haven't seen one but then, I may be looking in all the wrong places.

Here to add my angst to this discussion. I just hit level 40, got my new ship... cant slot my boff's. I have tried changing ships, moving to new areas, visiting the bridge, warping, trans warping, screaming at my computer, cursing the Gods... Nothing works. I don't even get a message when i try to put an officer in the appropriate station. It will not do jack squat.
Looking back, it seems this issue started around last November. Sad that it hasn't been resolved yet.:mad:
Had this bug too. I'm an ex subscriber testing how things have changed (must say not being able to use Boffs is not a good indication). Got this on all my characters including my brand new ones, the very first officer I received during training would not go to her station. I managed to get it to work on two characters through two methods:
On my old klingon character I sorted it by going to an exploration planet, one I had partially completed before going inactive.
On my new federation toon I tried pretty much everything, finally got it to work by transferring to a instance of the Sol System where there were 0 other players.
Seems in general the things that work involve ending up in low population areas: exploration planets, fleet starbases, bridges, shuttles. Whatever it is this needs to be a priority issue, there is no guaranteed workaround and it makes for one hell of a bad first impression. An MMO where you can't use your abilities? If I were trialing for the first time I'd have given up there and then.

Yesterday I made a new Alt, and after the Tutorial I went to the ESD Shipyard to switch into my C-Store Light Escort NX Replica ship and that's when I encounted the BOff bug. I can not assign my Amazon Borg, Referral PhotoBO, nor my Vet Android to my ship. Tried the Light Cuiser Connie, but can't do it there either. Tried different Zones and relogging, no help. I gave up and stopped playing.
Today I'm seeing this thread in the forums and will try some of the recommended workarounds. Here's hoping one of them works. I'll post back with my results. Thanks.

My Delta class shuttle with two BOff slots doesn't work, either. So the shuttle trick isn't a guarantee. Tried it with a Runabout, too, but it didn't make any difference.
All my BOff slots are "None" on every ship and shuttle I own on one of my characters, and I can't slot them. Was going to buy the Vesta pack for my Science captain, but he's the one unable to slot any bridge officers ... so I guess not.
I'm quite certain no one is even looking at this since it's a holiday weekend. Maybe we'll hear something Tuesday ... haha, right. Friday more like.

I got this as well, tried the zone to every new map I could find, didn't work. Even tried logging out and back in, didn't work.
What did work was to commission a new bridge officer, one for each slot I had. The new officer went into the BO slot, and then I could change it out for the BOFFs that I had there, but I had to do this for every slot. I couldn't get one Eng BOFF for all the Eng slots.

Lost slotting of Boffs on all my toons after Temporal Ambasador mission. I tried several of the solutions posted in haphard manor (angry mode). What worked for me was starting with the primary toon and going to the bridge to reslot while in sector space (Tau Dewa sector block). I then tried other toons in ESD and other sectors, but they did not slot. ESD, Sirius sector, and Alpha Centauri didn't reslot on the bridge. (other sectors -DK) Resloted all the remaining toons in Regulus or Tau Dewa while on the Bridge. PS - may be key starting with primary toon.
I had this problem, with my ship from ambassador mission as KDF, other ships had no problembs.
In the Galdara-station.
After chosing the new ship with the problem, i went to my ships interior, received an update(patch) than I set on my captains seat, and tried to put my bridge officers on their places, and this time it worked.
So perhaps they patched it, i will try it now with my Fed. toon.
After trying every suggestion I had come across in this thread to no avail, this fix worked for me. For those without access to a starbase [like me], I'd suggest visiting your starship bridge and trying it from there.
Yes, this is VERY annoying. Please fix ASAP. Can't change Boffs, AND/OR can't fill EMPTY slots! Cryptic you sure do find new and interesting ways to TRIBBLE things up! :mad:

In the top right hand corner, at the top of the minimap is the name of your current map with a # next to it. Click on it and change your instance. Simple as that. Give it a shot, hope this helps someone.

After the Temporal Ambassador mission, behind I get the Support Cruiser Retrofit, I did a "cleanner" in my Ships slots, discarding my first and second ships.
Then, I get the Cruiser, and try assign BOFF to stations, but it?s fail. After, I changed for the old ship, and it?s fail too.
Now, I don?t assign any BOFF to any stations, in all ships.
Is anyone having issues with assigning bridge officers? I got a new ship and when I try to assign the bridge positions, the tag continues to read none. I tried to go back to my old ship with the same results. I'm not going to play until I can assign these positions or I'll get my butt handed to me. Thanks.
whelp I think when we went back in time. we messed up the time line.. Bridge officers no longer exist. :eek: We will just have to wait for when the dev's ( Q ) goes back and corrects the time line. In the mean time I will enjoy the challenges of a skeleton crew

thats exactly whats happening to me and has been for days now. Think im gunna have to shelf the game for a week or so. which means ill forget about it and stop playing for another year.
Whenever I do a shuttle mission, empty slots. When I did Doomsday Machine, empty slots on the BoP that couldn't be filled for the mission. When I level up to a new ship, empty slots which take many zone changes before I could equip them.
I can imagine a new person giving up and STO, uninstalling it, and never coming back. I am amazed that there is no mention of a fix on the way. I looked at tribble notes today, and no mention. I can deal with this, but I imagine it to be a business disaster for as long as it lasts.
I am also experiencing the inability to asign Bridge officers however it is only on new ships. I just hit lvl 20 and got my new ship and the event ship and am unable to use Bridge Officers on either however I can use them on my lvl 10 ship just fine.
This is pure speculation but intially I thought it was related to the event quest. I'd taken the Temporal Ambassador quest a second time just prior to the event ending. I didn't get around to it and thought nevermind. I then logged in and the system said the event had been extended and I still had the quest. I decided to delete it as I didn't think I'd be able to get much time to play before the new deadline and the next day when I leveled to 20 I tried a new ship and it was broken.
I sincerely look forward to a fix soon as zoning hasn't helped me thus far. I haven't had a chance to read all this post so if there are definative fixes please sticky a list somewhere obvious.
Since most missions contain a space component, the same bug has rendered my game virtually unplayable for a week now. I contacted "customer service" and was simply told, "they are aware of the problem and working on it.... thanks for playing" Wondering if their intent is to kill the game. Because most players won't sit around waiting forever for "working on it" before they find another game that does work.
I tried all the workarounds listed, nothing works. Sadly I used my VA ship to do the "event' and it bugged my main ship. The only ships I can use are lower level ones. Tried contacting "customer service" and their only reply was "we are working on the problem" Since most missions contain a space component and without DOFFs space becomes virtually unplayable, I have been unable to play for about a week now. Quite frankly, knowing my attention span, if this is not resolved soon I am likely to simply lose interest and try other games. Indeed I wonder how many other people already have. Almost seems like they are trying to kill the game.
