    Has anyone tested to see if it is overheating? I know enough to tell, but that was one suggestion given by one of my fleet members. This was after I did Hive Onslaught fine with a few blanking screens and then get to ESD and it crashes my computer. The only other time I had a over heating problem it was with the CPU and the computer would just shut down...not sure what would happen with a ingratiated GPU.

    Just got this from PWE/Cryptic tech support

    Thanks for the info. We are currently looking into this issue. Do check to make sure your video drivers are updated, and try lowering in-game graphics as well to test, particularly the advanced settings.

    I don't have my hopes up but that looks promising.

    Been there, done that. I'm running the latest drivers and have the STO graphics set as low as they go. We were NOT having these problems before season 7.

    I have played succesful for the last 7 months.
    Got a gold subscription last month to support the game.
    After the update to season 7 the game doesnt work properly, i had no problems prior to the update (only some lag when doing an fleet action, but thats not strange)
    I am in sectorspace and its keeps switching between desktop and STO. Its unplayable now.

    I have an i5 intel onboard chipset and 6 Gb ram.
    According to the system requirements, thats more then enough.
    I cannot update the drivers cause its a laptop, you cannot just get new drivers from intel.
    You must get them from your laptop support site (lenovo in my case)

    They probably knew about the problem (check tribble post) but released season 7 on schedule. I think that its a bad thing for the plp with the intel onboard cards.
    I will register an support ticket and hope they will fix it soon.

    And if the system requirements where being changed, one should think cryptic would have communicated this in a blog. They didnt, so we just have to wait till they fix it.

    All these problems were reported when s7 was on tribble for testing.To make things better a dev said that this has to be fixed ',so devs know about and try to fix ...can't blame them but you can blame the "smart" person(be sure its PWE) who said "season 7 needs to be released in november " .

    Yeah I was not expecting much from them. They are probably going to just try and give me a lame excuse again. About the overheating has anyone here looked into that. I did a little, but I don't really think that it is the problem. But testing it now would be good then we can tell them that we know it is not that. At least those of us with support tickets open can.

    I just got this from them. Not sure if it will work or not worth a try though.

    The rest of that post just suggests stuff we already have tried. I will let you know if it works or not.

    Hey guys, sorry to hear about your problems. Think support is trying to be polite, but here is a link that may give you some ideas.

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/intel-hd-graphics-4000-2500.html <- This is a review of Intel's latest version of HD graphics.

    Jump to the Conclusion page and read carefully (second paragraph, last sentance, and note the statement in brackets).

    If we look at the two descrete graphics accelerators mentioned, namely the Radeon HD 6450 and Radeon HD 6570, their G3D Mark (rating) from http://www.videocardbenchmark.net is as follows:

    -Radeon HD 6570 -> 774
    -Radeon HD 6450 -> 288

    The bigger the number the better.

    I learned long ago that the base requirements listed for any game are BARELY sufficient, and always choose based on the more demanding recommended requirements.

    The two recommended cards (right from Cyptics website, link provided by a previous poster) are rated as follows from the same videocardbenchmark.net site;

    -NVIDIA GeForce 8800 -> 601 thru 930 (various flavours of the same chipset)
    -ATI Radeon HD 3850+ -> 596 thru 837 (again various flavours).

    The two "required" cards that are equivalent to Intel HD Graphics (again from Cryptic);

    -NVIDIA GeForce 7950 -> 258 to 313 (2 flavours)
    -ATI Radeon X1800 -> found rating but 699??? doesn't make sense.

    My card, the Radeon HD 6850 is rated at 2222 and parts of this game make it groan.

    I shiver to think what it is doing to yours. :eek:

    I have a amd 7970 and textures look like s*** (also tested on 4870 and 5990* - can do that because I sell pcs and I can test same thing on different systems to be sure the problem is not on my pc ).Bad programming is bad programming.

    Also those people with Intel graphics problems were not complaining in s6.Unless they come with different system requirements for the game (game still looks the same so I dont see why they'd do that) those people should not have problems.

    Now Im pretty sure they will say "we changed the graphics engine and your system is not good ,go buy another one and stop spamming us". I say Im sure because its cheaper than to fix or revert to pre s7.

    Im not even talking about those with nVidia cards which get shader errors and warnings (i got a shader error on amd card only on tribble not on released version).

    Best thing to know in this game is to avoid support if you dont want to rage quit.They hired baboons to offer support which will always find a way to BS alot about nothing thus offering no support.

    * those two cards even thou are few years old are more than enough for this game at a decent resolution .if s7 needs more than a 7970 then TRIBBLE it...no one will change their PC just because a cryptic thought to break things.

    Whoa....

    I just posted this to educate and let previous posters know they are not alone, that us with high end, and very high end cards like yourself are having problems. Hopefully Cryptic will address this issue and fix the less than optimal programing. You have to agree with the review though...

    And lets give Cryptic sometime to get around to this. As posted by a dev in another thread, they need to make sure the new build is stable, and will get around to smaller but no less important issues. Possibly Intel needs to be involved.

    Our issues with textures (as I'm sure we are both running with vid settings maxed out) is something that is well beyond Intel HD Graphics reach, and is best posted to another thread.

    By the way everyone his card is rated at 5109

    ....slinks away feeling inadequate.... :o

    Well thats the problem.Me and others who tested s7 on tribble reported the problem and they rushed all the update on holodeck thus making our reporst kind useless.I dont mind the bad quality texture but I sure dont like how fast they released it.Another week or two in testing would have been pretty good both for the game and for the devs .

    again my graphics card is not relevant.As i said I tested the game on few systems* (only one nVidia ) and all had the problem ,starting with 4870 (cant find other older versions still in store lol ) and ending with my 7970.Now because I was too lazy to check other cards I know from asking friends in game that most of amd 400 series have the problem ,only some 5000 series have the problem with textures and not many people have 7000 series to get a good statistics.

    * I know about newest drivers ,clean OS ,new sound drivers ,no "strange" codecs installed which can affect the game ....I know all that so you can be sure was not user's fault.I even compared DXdiags to see if I dont miss something .Also theres no difference between Win 7 and Win 8 s6 or s7 both have/had the same problems so OS is out of the question.

    I have to agree with adrianm63 here. I had no problem running this game at "Recommended" graphics settings in S6. S& however I can't, my settings are set at the lowest settings and still the drivers crash. This bug was reported in Tribble. It is not small it effects everyone with integrated graphics cards, and from what people are saying it is a pretty big problem. Yes I will give cryptic time to work this out. I won't rage quit. But support has to be told about this so they can't just ignore the problem and hope we will go away. And yes they do seem to be ID10T's but they seem to be trying to help in a limited ineffectual way.

    well it still works fine for me but then I don't try and play modern games on it. Well except for STO.

    This doesn't make good business sence, if I was managment or an executive worried about the money the company's loosing, and the harm this issue has done to the STO brand i'd be knocking heads together, if not beaming those responsible directly to the unemployment line (or outer space) depends how long it takes to resolve.:rolleyes:

    It is bad business sense to us. But remember that some of us are not paying members and don't produce money for Cryptic/PWE. And that they feel like they will have a endless supply of players no matter what. They forget that some of us are trekies first and players second. Well....some of us at least.

    Me too!!! If you stick with S6 stuff it does not do it at all or not very much. However in saying that I did crash while on ESD. After I asked tech support if I could get the game to output a log file so I could maybe track down what was happening. They replied and said the Devs were working on it. But they did not give any other information then that. Soooo...who knows.

    I want to note that while I do use an Intel integrated card on my lappy, I have by no means any illusions as to what it can and can't run.

    However, this is not an issue of some new effect or graphical upgrade being introduced and my computer just not being up to snuff any more: what the S7 patch has done in terms of any new graphical upgrade is a complete mystery to me, and yet I'm suffering a bug where my computer will simply hard restart itself without any warning (or even a BSOD) after ten or so minutes of STO play.

    My lappy has never had any real issues whatsoever with STO before this patch, in fact unless I was playing an intense PvP map on Solar Wind or something, I used to use medium-high graphics settings and play quite happily. A new upgrade is one thing, but to go from playing flawlessly -> interminable crashing? Really?

    Sadly, it's not limited to new content. My last two times crashing today was sitting in Cardassian sector space. Before that was doing the Big Dig (Temple) mission.

    Yeah it is frustratingly random. I crashed out on ESD only after doing Hive Onslaught and only having it crash the drivers a couple of times. And on some people if only seems to crash the game and on others it crashes the computers entirely. And the only error code I can find is 4101 and it does not give that much info about it.

    Has anyone heard anything form cryptic? They have been silent with me, maybe they are out for thanksgiving? My Klingon character is now stuck on Bajor in the holodeck because of this error. At least me Fed can still run Infected space with hardly any trouble. I can't do much more then that though.

    I just got back word today on both my support tickets. The Devs are aware of the problem, there is a glitch in the graphics of the game. However there is now word on when it will get fixed. It was hilarious getting a passive aggressive email on one ticket and a nice on on the other. But then I have been angry and shouty on on and nice and polite on the other. :P Seems to have worked somewhat. But I am sure all of you guys putting in support tickets helped as well.
