I am running windows 7 and i have the same problem. It happens to me in SFT's. The game would flicker to the desktop or loading screen. Then a blue screen that says my graphics has crashed and the system must shut down.
I get the same pop-up notice about my display having a problem and recovering since loading the game the first time in S7 while just sitting in sector space. Unfortunately I'm just running an Intel 3000 gpu, if you can call it that. I hope the minimum requirements for the game haven't changed or I won't be playing anymore. Looking forward with hope to another patch to resolve this issue, as it crashed my Windows 7 once and the game the other time.

It's got three alternatives
it thinks we're either a threat, food or mate.
It's either gonna kill us, eat us or hump us
This Bug was noticed on Tribble. There is a thread in the tribble bugs section about it. Basically anyone with integrated Intel HD graphics and possible some other types of cards is SOL. Changing the Graphics to "Low" will help on most things. But any of the new content is not playable. Sucks for us that have this issue.
Open support tickets please!! Send that last bit to them as well. And don't take "it is you not us **** either". I just tested it out and I can play fine when I am dealing with older content. I just did Infected space and no problems. Starbase 234 and I get driver crashes.
One thing I noticed is that it doesn't give me as many problems on New Romulus. It still happens some there, but not nearly as bad. (And the video only flakes out, the machine doesn't crash.)
Was posted on Tribble .. and since NOTHING has been done.. now posted here.
Sooo since this error is not my graphics driver being 'underpowered' because there is no lag, no pixaliztion nothing.. I get popped off when running around the accademy.
Prior to this, I can be in a 20 person Starbase 24. Torp spread 3 from all going off .. and nothing no lag no problem.
Fix this issue or refund my membership.

I totally agree I got life time when the game first launched what is the point of having perks if i can not even play the game anymore.
I posted this in the PC support forum but might as well raise it here as well, in the hope something gets done.
I'm having this issue on log on, i only get as far as the starfleet comm badge loading screen, then get an error on my PC of "display driver stopped responding and recovered" and game crashes. It's not an issue with my pc, all drivers are up to date and everything else to runs fine.
The game was working fine ten minutes before the servers went down for maintanence, so something is wrong with the season 7 patch.
Any news from cryptic - are they even aware amoung all the fuss of dil cuts?
Hi all-
I'm rather new here, but I had been playing for the last month or so with decent graphics options on my Intel HD(R) Graphics card. Then season 7 happened. The game loaded to sector space and then crashed with some message about my graphics card timing out, etc. That's Blue Screen of Death crash. Well I went to the Intel website and updated my graphics driver. That has helped a lot. I can now fly around sector space, and go to DS9 and Sol System Starbase. I still crash when accessing the new content (i.e. Azure Nebula), but I have run 3 STFs (Cure Space Twice and Infected Space once) with almost no problems. I do hope that a patch will be released to fix this! Here is the Intel link for all the Intel HD Graphics users: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
I still can't believe there are that many people playing games on terrible intel graphics cards, they are not meant for gaming and have for 10+ years now scored the lowest of pretty much anything out there in graphics power.
CPU can make up for bad graphics power but the intel chipsets are limited and featureless, its quite possible new graphics techniques are just not supported.
Assuming this is even the case, it is rather TRIBBLE poor to make such a graphic change (pun intended), that Devs know will probably will TRIBBLE many of their players from not being able to play...and let it go unannounced , only to cause bad-blood between a decent part of the player-base.
I tried to play the Temple tonight and by the time I was able to jump down to the first area, my system crashed. After rebooting and getting back into the game and launching the Temple again..... guess what? It crashed my computer AGAIN before I could even jump off the mountain!!!!!
And still no response by PWE. It appears they don't want people playing their game at all. Boy am I glad I decided not to purchase that lifetime membership I was thinking about.

The game has worked fine on Intel GPU's for ages, this is a season 7 issue.
Correct - I've never had any problems with either of my machine's graphics cards before season 7. And I didn't have any problems with season 7 on Tribble either (although I heard some others did.) We do know this is NOT limited to Intel cards as my other machine is a high-end ATI Radeon gaming card.....
And if there is some graphics card that doesn't work with PWE's software, the software shouldn't even launch - it should come up and tell us that the card can't work with the game - not crash the computer.

This is true in most cases, but if you go to the intel site you will see a big banner saying, Works with Star Trek ON-Line, and I to am having the same problem, I have put in a ticket and working with the tec support , TBH they are very helpful, to make my game playable for the moment I droped all my settings to low, and removed and re installed my drivers, my screen will flash but only once every half hour or so, but if you want real answers to your problems posting and complaining on a forum is not the way, submit a ticket, and try working with them, trust me if it is a fixeble problem they will do something about it, also I put in a ticket with intel asking if they will give us a driver update.

And Intel cards are notoriously problematic when it comes to Hardware T&L, perhaps someone from the Engine team can tell us how to disable it....

I noticed that non-Intel chipsets are also having problems too -- and some others are experiencing the same.
