Even starting from scratch, maxing out the new Reputation system will take you approximately 60% less STF runs than the chances you have of getting the last gear drop you need. This is what we meant by the system is far more favorable for most players. When the drop rate is so low, you'd have to run STFs "X" number of times for a likely chance to get the tech drop.
In the new system, the number of STF runs needed to get that last piece of gear is reduced down to a definite cost that has a finite number of STF runs to obtain which is 60% less than what it would have been previously in the random odds table.
Sure you might get lucky and get the last piece of gear you need in the next two months, but the odds are against you in the current reward table. You are more likely to get the last piece of gear you need by leveling up the Rep system than leaving it to chance.
I see your positive side tho toons I don't have it on be mostly feds or newer KDF ones could be used to get them up to par having near 20 toons up in mk xii gear in a few months time is better than being stuck on one piece on one toon giving it priority on every stf trying to get a piece of gear.
- We are not taking existing gear sets away from you. Everything that you've unlocked via accolades or purchased via the stores will remain on your character. The only thing being converted are the 42 currencies used in the STFs which are being aggregated into 2 easy to understand currencies: Omega Marks which are earned from Borg related content, and Borg Nueral Processors which are comm

And why exactly i'm do do with all the omega marks i'm getting when i open my omega box at t5. When i already need to grind all the STFs again to even get to be able to open it. And earn a ton of omega marks athat way? Throw them away, convert them to dil?
And you know. Don't believe your players are to stupid to chose what they want. Give them the information they need to make a informed decision and they will do if they care about it. Don't take away the choices because you think the players are to stupid.
The players will only be as smart as the game allows them to be.
And sadly STO is operating on the concept that the players are total morons. Which of course becomes true if you treat the players like morons. Treat them as intelligent beings and the game will improve. And never ever tell the players that they are to stupid. It is highly insulting at best, and will cost you players at worst. In that light you serious want to reword your answers. Because that is exactly what you told us.
i already have all the stf set pieces i want, im more then happy with just mkXI on most of it, theres a very small difference. so there is little incentive for me to grind through this omega stuff. seeing as i already have what i want, and have PLENTY of left over drops, i am basically at tier 5 as far as im concerned. except i wont be, i'll have to start at tier 1 as if im not. i really should be at tier 5, or as close to tier 5 as all my stuff would allow, i wouldn't miss out on anything, i already have done everything already, except play the new ui game were i have to dump a ton of dil and ec into.

so season 7 is going to be late and you lowered the chance again to get elite kit ?
aktually it is very difficult. couse 23.5 days is still 23.5 DAYS in real life
wich means you need 8.000 dilithium per day wich means what 4-8 hours minimum play time PER DAY.
thats hmm lets see 552 hours play time we can short it down to 400 hours play time.
not a difficult thing to do ? errr
and not to mention you aktully need to wait the physical 552 HOURS?
what is so wrong with our current system "press a buttom" "get the item" "equip it" takes what 2 min ?
At Tier I you only use 1200 dilithium to run two projects (one costs 300, the other 900). That price goes up if you run the Tier I upgrade, but if you don't, prices remain at 1200. 1200 doesn't take a player that long to earn. You only need 26 marks between the two projects, so in one elite run you have knocked out almost all of the needed resources. The biggest downside is you need around 180,000 EC worth of materials between the two projects.
I understand your sentiments about the changes, in fact I agree with you on the matter. The truth is, until there is a major outcry from the community, which probably won't happen until S7 launches, it's likely nothing will change.
So let me get this straight.
If we choose to not grind out this new system right away, our rewards are basically stolen from us until we do the grind.
Thats EXACTLY what Dan is saying. Guess I'll be cashing in for a mk11 3 piece, and dilith for the rest 'cause I'll be damned if I'm gonna allow this new system to hold my edc's/salvage hostage until I BUY the right to use them.
After careful consideration Dan, I've concluded that your new system SUCKS.
There will be Omega projects that generate Dilithium similar to how you could trade items in for Dilithium. I don't have specifics or final numbers on what the inputs/outputs of that project are yet.
When you have these sorts of specifics (specifically this sliding conversion rate a lot of us are worried about), will you give them to us, or hide them? A bit of transparency here would go a long way.
I understand that we are all looking in that direction.
how ever if you look in the other direction you will see all the other ways to get dilithium
other then buying it. i never buy dilithium and with a little replaining and knowing that MMO's used to be alot worse with time sinks. I am good to go for season 7
Will I be logging on to a ship with no weapons after the patch ?
And what about the ground weapons and our boff's wearing full sets and the visuals, will they lose the stf weapons and thus visuals or will there be no post season 7 visuals on them anyway ?
They probably just won't be available at the vendors anymore, like how previous lockboxes don't drop but still exist. And it's only the "standard" weapons with the [Borg] modifier. The MACO, HG, and Omega Sets will just be part of the Omega Rep system. This "retcon" has nothing to do with those, so don't worry.
Also, AFAIK, the only ones with unique visuals were the Set Weapons, weren't they? Of course, I never got a MK XII [Borg] Mod weapon, do those have their own visuals too?
so season 7 is going to be late and you lowered the chance again to get elite kit ?
No, it's scheduled to launch next month. Dan said the following on the page prior:
The final numbers which are being worked out calculate the average player completing the Omega Fleet Rep system around 2 months, which does require a time investment, but is a much better timeframe than "maybe someday you'll get the gear" which is what it was under the random loot drop system. Now you'll alway see how close you are to getting the gear and it won't take a year (like it has for some players.
We are adding a slew of new ways to get Dilithium including most of the Fleet Actions. The Dilithium Refining cap is staying in tact for now, but may increase by the time we hit Season 8.
What actions? How much?
Why wasnt THIS mentioned far sooner than now? I've been following the season 7 changes closely but i havent seen a whit of this.
I dont want to give this game up. I see the potential in this game but then i see the decisions like what started off this thread your dev blog and i immediately have to facepalm. There are a LOT of reasons not to like season seven and one of those was the growing requirements of dilithium in all projects and the lack of increase in sources.
This is the first time you've said a thing concerning more sources and/or upgrading the cap. I still dont like the fact that i have to grind my way up to five. I do think your 2 month term is somewhat pie in the sky given the time it takes to complete some of these projects. Now If they grow shorter? Maybe it gets worth it. Or if you can run multiple at the same time. Why has this not been addressed. When people are trying to make decisions we need all the information possible. I get again trying to funnel people onto the test server but a lot of people dont like it. There are still massive bugs that need fixing and a number of things that have to be done. This felt like a cash grab till i saw that statement. But its the first time that statement has been seen and it should have been stated WEEKS sooner than this.
If this is not just a feint and a real thing you do ease a lot of the pain that is coming with season 7 and you avoid one of the bigger problems imo that season 7 as talked about and as viewed by what was on tribble to be one of the biggest issues: Choosing between fleet advancement your own advancement and buying things off the Z store for your own enjoyment. I would like to know most of all WHY this wasnt said to players sooner and why it hasnt been talked about until now.

Despite all the comments youve made i still feel your not addressing the concern that the new systems and costs will increase the pressure on people to have to buy zen and hence force the cost of playing this game up, can you really afford to lose players ? is it not better to have a system where people are lining your pockets with money rather than over pricing every single last thing (the phrase getting blood out of a stone comes to mind) and force people to say "sorry i cant afford what sto is aksing of me im off to find a cheaper mmo"
Lets be honest here mr stahl shall we, how much of this increase in cost is by PWE demanding more money ? sure in asian countries they love to grind mmos to death but do pwe really have a grasp on the culture differences in the western market ?
I think you have got a big nerve hiking up the cost of every. WHilst I appreciate as a business cryptic has to make money i think your going the wrong way about it.

so true so true.
untill its live people wont stand up against the cryptic machine.
by then its to late.
i need to get my last toon equipped mk XII long before this comes live or i will regret it for the rest of my sto play life.
my experiance after equipping 5 toons with full mk XII is that our old system may be random but at least it dident force you to pay vast amount of dilithium or Physical time.
you could come and go as you wished with equal chances.
new system will sadly not be so forgiving it will be worse.
true the old system may not grant some people gear. but in the end never forced them to pay the price eaither.
( speaking only about MK XII at the moment ive never had the mk X or MK XI )
If only they fix Cloaking bugg *new message BOOM decloacked.

All existing gear you've purchased via STFs will remain on your character. The Omega set is not going away at all. There are some slight changes happening to the Borg Space set in that you only will need 3 set pieces to get all 4 of the set bonuses, and a second additional set (2 weapons and a console) is being introduced that uses the console that is being taken out of the original set (but the bonus still remains). So the only change is that the set is getting better. Again - these changes will be available on Tribble soon for those that want to see it in action.
So in other words the 500 STFs I have ran to get the MK xii gear and have only received 1 out of the 3 pieces I will have to do all over again, well this is a complete turn away for most of us veteran players who have already worked extremely hard just to be too told do all that work again just to get to the tier 5; then hope the amount of marks you get is enough to buy the gear that you cannot even look at on tribble until you hit T5. So in the end we will find out nothing about the numbers we need and just have to hope the amount we get is enough.
We are adding a slew of new ways to get Dilithium including most of the Fleet Actions. The Dilithium Refining cap is staying in tact for now, but may increase by the time we hit Season 8.

You've missed one key quote that i put in my new post that DOES address the dilithium issue at least partially. I am by no means a koolaid drinker and i want answers to questions but there is hope.

There is no other way to get dilithium than to buy it from ZEN or to do Elite Stfs.
all other ways to get dilithium takes sadly way to long for so little reward.
480 dilithium for 30 min play time when 1 elite stf takes 15 min for 1100 dilithium ?
when u got ur 8.000 limit you only option is to whipp out ur credit card and pay out ur nose.
and ur kids screaming for new cloths is echoing.
does cryptic hear them ? proboly not
If only they fix Cloaking bugg *new message BOOM decloacked.
so season 7 is going to be late and you lowered the chance again to get elite kit ?
You're reading that wrong.
Season 7 ships in November just like we've always said. The argument was that if we left everything is it is now, the odds of getting the prototype tech drops are so low that it would take a long time to get them. Once Season 7 hits, you'll now have a definite finish line of approximately 2 months to finish the Omega Rep and get the gear.
Or another way of looking at it:
(Existing Way)
- Statistical number of STF runs needed to get a specific prototype drop = X
(New Reputation Way)
- Number of STF runs needed to max out Omega Fleet and acquire gear = 60% less than X
If you then have existing items that are being converted in Season 7, once you max out Omega Fleet, it will be even cheaper to acquire the gear because we're giving you credit for the currencies you've saved up to buy the gear.
When do all the story missions get unlock so they reward Romulan and Omega Marks?
I am not really interested in grinding the old stfs because im fed up with them, and I do not want to test the newer stf and other team missions as I do not want to get bored with them before they go live!
well in it's current state i cannot see that happening tbh , people are reporting bugs on tribble and getting no replies from devs so what is happening ? . you claim to listen to the player base now prove it !
It means the STF stores will no longer sell the 'Standard Issue' weapons, which were normal except for a [Borg] proc or bonus damage.
Not sure on what will happen with existing [Borg] weapons, but they will definitely not disappear, and nothing should happen to your MACO, Omega, and Honor Guard weapons. Perhaps the [Borg] weapons will become new anti-borg weapons, but they will probably remain as-is, and any new ones you purchase will be the new Anti-Borg versions.
Take a look at my Foundry missions! Conjoined, Re-emergence, and . . .

I love how you ignored every other part of my post... to correct me on something that may or may not be true.
You know what could have fixed the issue of low drop rate? Raising the drop rate... that would have fixed it... and guess what... you wouldnt be shafting anyone with partial sets.... oh, but I guess you wouldnt be able to monetize the system with dilithium...

2 months to bloody months. of forced time spent forced play time.
thats not better than the current way sadly.
we allready calculated it to be 23.5 days or 552 hours.
thats just wrong.
i could have agreed to 1 week or less but 2 months. grats you killed the game.

Mr Stahl I put it to you
WILL YOU DO THE HONOURABLE AND DECENT THING OF RUNNING A CHECK ON THE NUMBER OF STFS THAT ALL PLAYERS HAVE RUN AND COMPENSATING THEM WITH A HEAD START IN THE NEW REP SYSTEM
personally I think its the decent and right thing to do do you not agree ? some of us players who have supported this game have run in excess of thousands of STF runs

Very well, those 2 pieces of info are good news. I have to admit that. Now please make those "Omega projects that generate Dilithium" abundant and as cheap as possible.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Dilithium, Fleet Marks, Omega Marks, and Romulan Marks will be available from a wide variety of missions once Season 7 launches.
Generally speaking
if it is missions against the Borg, it will reward Omega Marks.
If it is missions involving New Romulus or the new Sector it will reward Omega Marks
All Fleet Actions that previously rewarded Gear only, will now reward Gear and Dilithium at all scores with a special 2x Dilithium bonus for coming in Gold in Fleet Actions.
Fleet Marks will be available from more PVE Queue missions.
Dilithium Ore will be available from more missions and via the Reputation system
Cryptic: We understand that the current loot drop system is a bit ridiculous at times
Player: Yea it takes way too long to get.
Cryptic: Ok, we are just going to take it away from everyone, introduce a shiny new system, and you can re-earn it.
Player: WTF I already have it.
Cryptic: Yea so? You'll get it back once we deem it ok.
Player: Huh? I already earned it you Internet Gestapo, give it back.
Cryptic: Ha, we make the rules, pay for it.
Player: MECH WARRIOR ONLINE, HERE I COME!
Cryptic: WTH?!?
Player: I got tired of your nonsense.
PWE: After reviewing your job performance, You are all fired!.
Stahl: Guess we went to far.
Borticus: I wonder if I can get my show back on JupiterBroadcasting.com. Beer sure was tasty!

i need to get my last toon equipped mk XII long before this comes live or i will regret it for the rest of my sto play life.
my experiance after equipping 5 toons with full mk XII is that our old system may be random but at least it dident force you to pay vast amount of dilithium or Physical time.
you could come and go as you wished with equal chances.
new system will sadly not be so forgiving it will be worse.
true the old system may not grant some people gear. but in the end never forced them to pay the price eaither.
( speaking only about MK XII at the moment ive never had the mk X or MK XI )
So in other words the 500 STFs I have ran to get the MK xii gear and have only received 1 out of the 3 pieces I will have to do all over again, well this is a complete turn away for most of us veteran players who have already worked extremely hard just to be too told do all that work again just to get to the tier 5; then hope the amount of marks you get is enough to buy the gear that you cannot even look at on tribble until you hit T5. So in the end we will find out nothing about the numbers we need and just have to hope the amount we get is enough.
480 dilithium for 30 min play time when 1 elite stf takes 15 min for 1100 dilithium ?
when u got ur 8.000 limit you only option is to whipp out ur credit card and pay out ur nose.
and ur kids screaming for new cloths is echoing.
does cryptic hear them ? proboly not
You're reading that wrong.
DELTA PRICE RISING
Not sure on what will happen with existing [Borg] weapons, but they will definitely not disappear, and nothing should happen to your MACO, Omega, and Honor Guard weapons. Perhaps the [Borg] weapons will become new anti-borg weapons, but they will probably remain as-is, and any new ones you purchase will be the new Anti-Borg versions.
Conjoined, Re-emergence, and . . .

Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
Player: Beer is tasty!
Borticus: You know I can do a better star trek game with out Stahl and Co, TRIBBLE things up for me.
Player: good go for it, Just give me back my gear.
