Having a rounder drive section is not a bad thing; the connie, excelsior, ambassador even later looking at voyager and now the Oddy. The Chimera really can't tell what it's meant to be. It's trying to marry the purpose of an escort with the style of a fat cruiser, it just does not work.
On the topic of nacelles there are the defiant and akira class to think about though the defiant had design reasons for being like that and pulled it off. The akira class at least follows the convetion of having the nacelles below the drive section.
I'm just glad this didn't turn out to be the winning entry for the Enterprise F:eek:!!
Since the Excelsior-classI'd imagine, Bill George intentionally designed that vessel to look ugly too because they wanted you to like the Enterprise more.
Epic fail on Bill's part I'd say - the Excelsior is a great looking ship (far better than either of these inbred mutants I might add).
Hmm anytone think I (my main fed tac) should swap the 2 year Odyssey for the 1000 day ship? I've been so busy IRL that I can't recall the 2 year ship's stats and if this would be an improvement or not.
I also have a fed sci using recon, and a kdf eng using BoP.

The new ship is a lot of fun. It has a lot of the strengths of both the Escort and Cruiser and few of the weaknesses. I love the new animation as well. Thanks so much for this ship! Despite all the controversy surrounding the recent Lifetime perk thing, it was a fitting reward for 1,000 days of service.
I am happy with the Chimera. Yeah she isn't the nicest ship to look at, but she is superior to many escorts out there even with only 9 console slots.
She beats my Mobius into the ground for boff seating, and as good as an extra console slot is, if its not in the tac slot on an escort, who cares?
Tried these ships out within minutes of their availability.
With the BOFF slots, I really like how you have your choice of either an Escort (with the Universal Ensign slot) or a Tactical Cruiser (with the LTC slot going to Eng or Sci). And done in a way that the MVAM and the Akira isn't delegated to the scrapyards.
With the Chimera, I really love the design, EXCEPT that HUGE Bass Mouth. I personally feel that it could've been scaled down to match the sleekness of the ship from above. And I really am not fond of the "Tactical Mode", it looks cheesy with those Gold Bars. I feel that the Transformation mode could've been done better and in a different way.
Also, the art team needs to make up their mind weither she has blue Impulse Engines or Red, because the Saucer's is Blue while the Pylons is Red.
With the Klingon ship, I just outright hate the design. It's hideous and looks like someone threw it together at the last minute. It honestly does. And was expecting the tranformation to be to have the wings adjust and cannons pop out, instead we got some ugly green thing that pops out. And honestly, not sure how the Klingons could fit a warp core with that stuff taking up the interior space.
Meowzers, I really luv the design of the Fed ship, the Klingun ship is okay to me, butt not outstanding.
As I said, a fleet version of those babies and people would pay the dubble of the meowdules required (8 instead of 4). Even without the 10th cunsole TRIBBLE and extra shield and hull power, those ships are cumpetitive with lower end fleet ships. The buff layout is awesum! On the KDF side, I'll definately purrmeownently fly that ship along with the Mirror Quinn Raptor and the Fleet Vor'cha. On Fed side, it's hard to find sumfin to replace a Jham attack ship.

Um, no I wouldn't get the fleet version if they were that outrageously priced. You do realize that 8 modules is $40 in the c-store... for a single ship that you can only get once, for one character. I don't think many people would buy them at such an unreasonable rate, the $20 price for the 4 modules ones if you haven't unlocked the unique console version is bad enough. What would happen is it would drive up the price of the modules on the exchange, so what you seem to be asking is please increase the demand for modules on the exchange so we can make as much profit on them as on Master Keys.
While I think a fleet version of these ships would be good, if anyone can pick up the ship, then charge 4 modules for it, if you have the veteran version unlocked count it as a T5 ship so only 1 module. With how the Fleet store is setup, I doubt they can even lock a fleet version into requiring you to have the veteran version to get it. If they can then maybe another price might be viable, but definitely not more than 4 modules, the upgrade over the default version isn't that significant to warrant the cost of the Odyssey/Bortas combo pack (8 modules).

I agree with the lack of common sense with the KDF ship..my first impression was "wait....how does all of that fit in there..?"

Why only 9 console slots?? you spend 1000 days in game and you cant even get a ship up to par with the fleet ships or lockbox ships. and why does The Fed and KDF ship have all the same stats but the Kdf ship has a smaller shield mod??

Thanks again for the Grand Veteran KDF ship. I greatly enjoy it and find it behaves just as advertised, a perfect blend between Raptor and Bird of Prey.
As a Destroyer class vessel, was its creation at all inspired by the Strike Class vessels of the Gorkon series of books?
How about this as a lifetime subscriber reward - you automagically qualify for all new veteran rewards on the the day they figured the game was 100, 200, 300, etc., days old instead of some number based on the day your subscription was paid for. I think it's silly that other lifers who have actually played the game for months less time than myself have gotten vet rewards weeks before I have (still haven't gotten the 200 day vet reward).
I have been having a discussion with a few friends of mine over the subject of Lifetime subscriptions and Veterans rewards.
In STO there are a few items which unlock with time spent in-game, such as the Captain's Yacht (400 days of subscription). I have heard both sides of the argument from my friends - "A Lifetime subscription should automatically unlock all veteran rewards, as after all it is non-refundable and is 'lifetime' meaning the player has (or will) put in all time required for any vet reward, plus it's an incentive to sell more life subs" and the flip-side, "No noob should have access to vet rewards right off the bat. They have to earn them by putting in their time (and gaining playing experience) just like everyone else. Vet rewards are a badge of honor, they shouldn't be given away to someone who just bought the game (lifetime or not)."
I'd like to get a much bigger perspective on this subject than just my friends. So what do you all think about this subject? Should people have to put in the time regardless of subscrption type to get vet rewards or should lifetime subscribers have access to them at the get go, because regardless of what happens, they will eventually have them unlocked anyway?
Posted on July 19th 2011
You don't have to play the game every day to get the rewards. Just Maintain a Sub and you get the rewards. So Argument for just granting the reward's... Go ahead. If you get a life time sub then get the benefit's. Sorry for those who dont like this, but ry not playing a few days and tell me if your days haven't increased anyway.
Vet rewards are "earned" by subscribing to the game ("opening thier wallet") for a set amount of time. Not for actually "playing the game."
The only difference, a lifer opens his wallet once for $300 (+ previous sub time), a vet opens his wallet a bunch of times... totalling $~250 (500 days)...
"Time = money." Never more true then when you're talking about SUBSCRIPTION TIME.
Posted on July 20th 2011 by Cpt_Equinox
You dont need to even log on to earn them, just need an active sub. So no they are not earnt, and yes they are given away.

I don't consider the inclusion of the Captain's Table in the 400 days veteran's rewards as lifers "losing" any benefit.
Simply put, you will still have access to the Captain's Table. So you're not "losing" anything. Other people are gaining access to this area of the game. Considering that one of the biggest complaints regarding the Captain's Table that I see on these forums is, "Nobody ever goes there," I would think that this might help to alleviate that problem a little bit.
Lifetime subscribers also have access to many other perks which are not included in the Veteran's Reward Program, including the Lifer only combadge, in-game and forum title, and the Liberated Borg Playable Race.
So, again, I don't see how you can call this "losing" a benefit, when you will retain access to the benefit, and according to the feedback I have seen, this move may very well increase your enjoyment of that particular benefit.
Here's what I will note, from memory and reading back:
Cryptic's stance on this kind of thing has NEVER CHANGED. It was always that exclusivity was always at their sole discretion and customers should not judge the value of anything they get relative to what anything else gets. It was there with podcaster bugships, the Captain's Table, the shift of Galaxy-X, and preorder exclusives to the C-Store. IT IS NOT A PWE THING. Cryptic has never apologized for any of these things.
Players' stance on this HAS CHANGED. The further you go back, the more lifers were in favor of new lifers getting all vet rewards. This shifted with an increasing number only as they accrued rewards over time, with many lifers' stance shifting to the position that new lifers should have to wait. Cryptic's stance was always that they couldn't share rewards that didn't exist yet.
What I would like to know is why the console is a Universal console but can only used on the 1000 day vet reward ship. With all the other console that have come out over the length of the game unless it was said to be useable only on that ship u could put it on any ship that u chose to which is what Universal is suppose to mean.

"Universal" simply means that you can fit it in an Engineering, Science or Tactical slot, unlike normal consoles. No console has ever used "universal" to mean "you can cram this thing into any ship that you want to."
