Yeah -- I have this same question. It would be nice if we could use parts from the whole ship we purchased with the material we received with that purchase.

Finally the Sovereign refit people have been asking for over a year haha. Hmm the one thing I'm iffy about (well seeing that we don't have stats yet) is that half the ship looks like a kitbash of the science vessels we have.

Adorable! It looks like a teenage Odyssey. The forward-swept pylons being the equivalent of getting a mohawk and dying part of it purple; everyone around him knows it's hideous, but in a weird way it's endearing and makes it stand out in a "Pay attention to me!" sort of way.
Yes, thats exactly what I'm talking about. The Noble class IS a sovereign refit, they just gave it the same stats as the standard Sov, which made no sense. The Noble should have always been what this new ship is.
The wierd thing is that these new ships look great although they are all federation and none KDF. So if you want to look good but be crappy as far as gameplay you go fed... If you wanna be awesome and fly around with things that look like a pile of metal that got some paint cans thrown at it... you play KDF.
Its been long enough I think there needs to be some KDF stuff...K'vort bops, ferasan and orion escorts, nausicaan flight deck cruiser, and possibly a negh'var retrofit like the sovy just got.

Don't forget, if you prefer forward swept pylons/stanchions, you can always put the Sovereign's rear swept ones on instead! Also, the other way around
Will we be able to use Material 6 on our "frankenstein" Sovereigns, mixing parts of the other Assault Cruiser materials? Or is it like most ships that only the new model will have Material 6 support?

Now, i suppose we won't see it come with the nemesis skin, right? That would be too much to ask, since it is "way to close to the original" to make people pay for it. But an even more important question? Will it come with a movie grade and true to scale Sovereign BRIDGE?!?!?
Gonna have to agree with diogene0. We have cruisers, upon cruisers, upon cruisers, and the thing is, cruisers are a very "aquired taste" for playstyle, due to the beamboat / battleship / USS Missouri type of combat and the ultra-hindered manueverability.
I'd be much more inclined to play on a regular basis if we had some more options. Awhile back, I made a suggestion for a "middle-weight combat cruiser" which would be approximately the size of an Intrepid, with a cruiser type styling (saucer, neck, primary hull, pylons & nacelles) and a tactical loadout. Basically a stepping stone between full blown escort, and whale cruiser. Not to mention it would give tactical players a different look which doesn't exist in the Escort line, since either you have to fly a fighter jet wannabe, or a 4 nacelle frankenstein.
Essentially a more survivable Tactical Alternative. More survivability than an Escort, and more powerful than a Cruiser. Less Survivable than a cruiser, less firepower than an escort. A true hybrid.
Why can't we get some hybrid type ships? Why do the ships have to be distinctly Escort, or distinctly Whale Cruiser, or distinctly Science? You guys placed STO in the 25th Century so you could have some freedom of creativity. So why aren't you exercizing that freedom?

Oh, and Sci needs some major love too. Those guys really don't have much in the way of options.
As I posted in another thread, I don't like the design of this Regent class. It feels unfinished, as in unpolished welded metal sheets. It lacks the grace and elegance of the original Sovereign, which at the same time looked ready for war. This seems like an "edgy" and "sharp" version of the Odyssey.
Could we have bigger photos from more angles? Maybe it looks better than it would seem.

I know that the Sci Captains have been patiently waiting for a new Starfleet science ship; my vote is to give them some love next. We've seen a lot of cruisers lately, and I don't think that the Caitian carrier is really the science ship that the community has been waiting for, despite having a Sci favorable bridge officer seating.
JamzJamz still has a bit of a way to go until he can beat John Eaves work.

Those visuals won't make me shell out 2000 C-Points (or 2500 Zen).
The prospect of flying the SOVEREIGN class at Endgame without feeling outclassed by everything else = SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
The only thing that makes me sad is that the original visuals will NOT get an update even though i will now spend 2000 CP on this Refit, and then another 500 Zen on the Fleet Version that will surely follow just in time for the first Tier 5 Starbase unlocks.
So that is $30 and i still fly the same old Art Asset,
with oldschool open beta style Weapon Hardpoint Pimples and a Deflector that magically swaps its color from gold to blue when the camera distance is high enough for the low poly LoD model to kick in, because Logan only ever updated the high poly variants :rolleyes:

first I thought this was the odyssey. this looks really really nice.
however I think this is gonna follow the footsteps of the Ody. I mean whenever you see an Ody in a PVE, you are unhappy, because chances are, the player did not build it well. I hope this wont be like that (however seeing, how it is the successor of the Enterprise -yeahyeah, I know not- we will definately see lots of these ships named the ENTERPRlZE)

Otherwise, the ship looks good - nice work by JamJamz pulling it all together although like many others I'm not a fan of the forward swept pylons.
Hopefully we will be able to use the type 6 material if we make adjustments to the skin.
