My main's ship (Odyssey Class) is the U.S.S. Cavalier. I wanted a majestic sounding name and one that sounded "knightly" since I'm such a fan of knights/paladins in games, but "U.S.S. Paladin" just didn't sound right to me.
My primary alt's ship (Defiant Class) is the U.S.S. Viking. I'm from Minnesota and am a Vikes fan.
My main's ship was named the Marcus Aurelius until recently. However, having finally caught up with the modern eps of Doctor Who and given the increasing presence of the Iconians....
...I changed it to Demons Run.
@Venture-1. @Venture from City of Heroes if you remember that. Yes, that Venture. Yes, I probably trashed your MA arc. You'll have to be specific; for me it was Tuesday.
I know, probably one of the go-to choices in ship names and even debateable to use considering the myriad of ships called "Excalibur" throughout the Trek franchise.
That being said, I just Really LIKE the name. To me, it gives a sense of heroism, flying a flagship style ship that represents a weapon wielded by a legendary English king who it used to unite and protect his country (if your into the romanticised version of the Arthur legend) and one with a distinguished lineage of previous ships to live up to. In way, I feel like I'm commanding my own Enterprise, but it is still my own unique ship.
Current ship on my main is the USS Invisible Truth. It's a Fed battlecruiser, and a reference to another SF property's most famous battlecruiser.
My alt's are all named after various Israeli/Jewish ships, locations, and heroes. Because why not?
I take it you are referring to the Congress Class vessel from Battletech? The CSS Invisible Truth was a Com Guard vessel. I think it was lost in the Word of Blake Jihad.
I take it you are referring to the Congress Class vessel from Battletech? The CSS Invisible Truth was a Com Guard vessel. I think it was lost in the Word of Blake Jihad.
I have recently renamed my Fed Tac Roms ship the RRW SAVE ME LEET HAX
Reason: A previous fleet I was in told me I couldnt say this phrase in teamspeak because they felt it would make other fleet members think we were actually hacking (lol).
The actual story behind this was a match where I yelled it out in teamspeak when I was about to get killed (we had been discussing a fairly well circulated saving private ryan gif earlier in the day) and i was using a clicky console to save myself from dying.
So its sort of a petty little slap, at the same time based on the belief that someone that can survive death in pvp must be a hacker.
On my new Federation Klingon science character I name all my ships USS Alamo, reason being it is one of the most epic last stands in military history and is a symbol of courage in the face of overwhelming odds
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."
-Lord Commander Solar Macharius
Most of my toons follow a theme with their ship names.
My first toon, Silas, has all horse-based shop names. He is currently captaining the Roheryn, which was Aragorn's horse and the name of Rohan's cavalry.
Alexandra, one of my sci's, has all avian based names, currently in a recluse named Avalarion.
Vadim, my KDF sci, has Spartacus themed ships and crew, currently in the Oenomaus.
Vox, my KDF tac, has music based ships, mainly pop. She is flying the Tal Shiar knife ship If U Seek Amy.
Persephone, one of my Rom tacs, uses Greco Roman legends and history. Her primary ship is the Scimitar Caligula.
My favorite though is Absolution, a Reman tac of mine, who uses characters from Goethe's Faust. His main vessel is the scimitar Mephistopheles.
Starfleet: Persephone, Silas, Alexandra, Purrs-a-lot, Insanity, Alala, Nicki Minaj, Apathy and Liz Lemon KDF: Absolution, Vox, Vadim, Sammiches and Unknown Refugee Member of Network 23 FED and Imperial Legion
I've been borrowing names from other Star Trek games for my KDF recently (researched on Mem Beta).
Mirror Neggy: IKS MajQa'be' (ST: Legacy)
Vor'cha: IKS JorwI'Hegh (from ST: Armada II; means something close to "explosive death")
I'm going to call my eventual Tor'Kaht the IKS HoSbatlh (from Birth of the Federation, meaning something like "strength and honor" or "honorable strength").
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"
— Sabaton, "Great War"
main toon's Kumari is the IGV Meleager, one of the Argonauts (all his ships are named for mythological warriors, mostly Olympian)
Romulan toon's main... IRW Katsulas... the reference there should be obvious.
Alt's Excelsior is USS Sioux... trying to be somewhat cannon, and some Excelsiors were named after native american peoples/nations (USS Lakota for example).
Klingon's K'Tinga is supposed to translate to "Targ's Blade" but i apparently screwed that up somehow and won't post it here...
My other toons either dont have final ships yet or final names for them...
Updated from my last post, some of my newer ships and their names.
For Arkos Nair, my Federation primary Alien:
U.S.S. Archimedes (Mirror Heavy Cruiser Refit)- named after the Greek mathematician. This has officially replaced my previous standard Heavy Cruiser, and I'm loving it so much that it's more or less become my standard ship.
R.R.W. Maricus (Dyson Science Destroyer)- randomly generated name. This annoys me a lot, because I had wanted to name it the Tagor (lit. "Talon"), but the game refused to accept this name for some reason. I was forced to randomly generate a name, and NOW I can't rename it!
And for my newer alt, Meral Ranek, a Federation Cardassian Tactical girl:
U.S.S. Hadfield (Centaur light cruiser)- named after the Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield.
U.S.S. Kestrel (Gladius-class escort)- named after the starting ship from the game FTL.
U.S.S. Hector (Akira-class)- named after the Trojan hero from The Iliad. I originally wanted to name it the Martok, but again, for some reason, the game refused to accept this name. Go figure.
I have a Galaxy Cruiser and it's named Reroura. A combination of Arura, Aura and auora. For me it's like auora with a Re like it's been refitted for me but i wanted it to show so i named it Re-roura except i removed the -
