STO reviews, Cryptic?

sroansroan Member Posts: 22 Arc User
I was surfing the net and to my surprise I found STO has been reviewed by G4's X-Play. At launch they gave it a 3 out of 5. At the game's current state I would not be surprised if they lower it more.

Cryptic critics are reviewing the game and giving it poor marks. What do you have in responce? Cant you make it better?

Of corse asking this is like talking to a brick wall, I wont get any responce. Has any one else seen major critics review the game?

We have major critics in the MMO world? I thought it was just overweight guys still living in their parents' basement writing those things.

Like how it is in the Open Source community. :D

edit: I kid you not on the second bit there. I do webhosting and we try to support the Open Source authors as much as we can with a pretty much random donation every month to one of them. The one picked a few months ago emailed me back and told me how he was going to use the money to fix up the basement he was living in and how he was going use any left over as rent to his mom.

ah True how ever I would say they would be loosing profit if so many players are agitated with the state of the game. Granted it is free to play but it is pay to win.

They ALWAYS review the game at launch and usually that review is the one that sticks around and can hurt a game. Look at WOW, at launch the servers were overcrowded, it didn't have a formal pvp system, only 1/3 of the current flight paths and you had to get 40 people on a raid to get a chance at getting an epic item. The hate WOW gets is ten times worse than the hate we get.

mmo players are always agitated. give em what they ask for? it's the wrong color. change the color? I want to choose the color etc.

not defending PWE just saying they have a pretty decent record in making money despite continual critical reviews.

also it is hardly pay to win as at the minute sto really has nothing to win. there is no territory to own or take over. sure you can be a big fish in the little pvp/pve pool but meh. after you've killed everyone what is there to do but kill them again. loses its interest when it's for nothing at the end of it.

Using G4's X-play as evidence is like having Michelle Obama talk about guns, nothing good comes from it. X-Play is all about Morgan Webb's knockers. I stopped caring for G4 when they got rid of Diane Mizota, she was a gamer so she played the games she reviewed. Good sources would be like IGN and Game Informer, even the Meta Score on Steam is more reliable since most of it is from players.

G4's X-play? , Im quite a gamer but i never heard of them.... and if im not wrong the best Review for a game is if you play it by yourself(everyone have diferent choice and type of playing so you cant decide what is good/bad for somebody else).

I read a nice review 2 months ago, it actually gained points (in comparison to launch) for being a well rounded F2P game, without being forced to pay anything.

I'll grant that to them. I payed 10 bucks for the game, whatever the lowest level it was for cpoints and that's been it.

I thought about the lifetime during the last sale but once again it wasn't held during the third of the month so it wasn't an option.
