Get Nicki Minaj song Starships into Star Trek Online

I love the Nicki Minaj song "Starships" ... well, just for one line of the chorus:

"Starships were meant to fly"

I always think of Star Trek and also Star Trek Online when I hear that musical phrase.

So, I'm thinking, how can we somehow incorporate that song or just a sample of that musical phrase into Star Trek Online?

How about Cryptic puts a Nicki Minaj-styled NPC (hey, she already looks a bit like an alien with her makeup and hair ;)) into the shipyard of Earth Spacedock and the KDF orbital shipyard, right near the Ship Selector? Heck, just replace the Ship Selector NPC with the Nicki Minaj NPC.

And THEN, whenever a player accesses the Ship Selector function, there's a voiceover with the sampled line:

"Starships were meant to fly"

just like the Holo-Leeta always says "Spin the Wheel and Win" when a player access the Dabo game :D

    Why would Cryptic need to put an NPC of Nicki Minaj in Star Trek? She already looks fake enough. Beyond that I won't criticize your taste in music, but if you want to listen to it in trek, get Winamp which works with the in game music player to pump it for you.

    They should only do this if there's an option to shoot the NPC in the face.


    But then ESD and the First City would be permalagged by people queuing up waiting for Nicki to respawn so they could shoot her...

    Oh god no, next thing you'll have is Lady Gaga, Britany Spears, Paris Hilton, Juston Bienber NPC's in the game, the day any of those appear in the game is the day I leave, lol

    Keep that no talent hack away from my game. It's bad enough I have to see that irritating twit everywhere, I do not need her popping up in my only sanctuary from reality.

    If anything, they should put in the Vulcan version of the Milkshake song.

    When people come across the word "starship", they don't think of Star Wars or Battlestar Galactica, or Dr. Who. They think STAR TREK!

    And how many songs actually mention the word "starship"? The band Jefferson Starship doesn't count, since their name isn't in a song.

    Honestly, having listened to the song, it doesn't make me think of Starships at all. It makes me think of every other generic pop song to have come out in the last decade. But hey if you like it, that's great. Just don't try to add it to trek, use your music player to listen to it.

    starships has nothing whatsoever to do with star trek or even star ships, they might have as well said fireworks are meant to fly, blackbirds are meant to fly, etc

    if we were to have real life music in game (perhaps in the star base bars and clubs via some sort of user picked jukebox functionality) I would like a mix of appropriate instrumental with perhaps the odd vocal song. Also not just upbeat boom boom boom music, something a little soulful like Spider Robinson's song he wrote with Dave Crosby as he was working Heinlein's "The stars are a clock" premise into Variable Star:

    Nicki Minaj is a stupid joke... Fake in every way, she had way too much plastic surgery. :|

    Also, her songs are for individuals of a mental handicap.

    Hey, Bieber's got a new album out now, and he's getting into trouble (methinks, media stunts) which are getting him plenty of buzz. Having his music in Star Trek Online could bring in more of the young MMO crowd. Mostly male, sure, but that may be comparable to the Bieb's RL demographic :eek:
