Captains, this is just a bonus perk for having a Lifetime Subscription, and was implemented based off the feedback many of you provided (we saw it in forum threads and as comments in-game). Something similar was done for STO with Champs' subs. If you are not interested in participating, you do not have to; just delete you invite when you get it. But, for those who are interested and are Lifetime Subscribers, you will be able to.

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

This "Perk" is just another attempt to get us to spend more money. I'm not interested in playing another Cryptic game after how I've seen STO handled. Make LTS/Subscriptions actually worthwhile in this game maybe?

I will be using this, as I am interested in NW. However, seeing as how this is completely unrelated to the actual game people bought the LT sub for, I hope there will be more perks added that *are* actually related to STO.

    Okay, who's idea was this?

I don't really like fantasy, so offering me a fantasy shiny gimmick is going to fly about as far as a starship with the warp core offline and all the impulse engines damaged.

NCSoft tried this tactic with me before and it didn't work!

At the very least, give us an the ability to opt out of the offer if it's given to players who aren't going to look at it longer then the time it takes to delete the email.

And please don't repeat NCSoft's mistake of continually mailing me with offers and incentives to play this game.
After the 20th time, I had some rather harsh words for their GMs.

I'm looking forward to trying it out. Assuming it's going F2P from the get-go, I'll probably make a silver account and play it now and then. Sword and Sorcery games aren't really my genre tho.

But when I'm bored, and not feeling like STO or Champs, it'll be nice to have another option.

STO LT Perks... should remain being STO related....

Announcing LTS get access to Neverwinter Beta is fine.. great even for Neverwinter Fans

But its not a Lifetime Perk.....

Considering this game will eventually go live... the Lifetime Perk is Limited technically....

People see Perk and they think "Reason". I doubt anyone at Cryptic was clasping their hands menacingly saying, "This will get us more life-sub cash" or "This will shush them". It's just like they did before, a perk.

    On a related note.

For the first time I actually looked up info about NW. Did anyone else see the PAX east stuff they showed? I mean... people wonder where Cryptic's time goes? They aren't 200 people, they aren't even 100. We were wondering what they've been up to... and they've... been busy.

I mean, it isn't super wowing, but it is still far more impressive than I was expecting. I am a bit jealous of the people who get the peek. Even if it is just to poke behind the curtain to see if it's hollow.

Read the link.... on the other page it mentions the Lifetime Sale is ending soon

I also doubt this was Cryptics move......

Honestly, I wasn't really interested in Neverwinter, but I am not going to complain if someone wants to give me free access to it.

One question though, Since I am new to all this, How do we get our free access? Is it via in-game mail? Forum PMs? or the email we registered with on our account?

I am forced to agree with my esteemed colleage...

I have zero interest in NW...

But hey.. look at it this way. You can buy a LTS for NW and get access to the next closed beta for the next new game.. :)

After losing my forum name, login name and the overall crappiness of the "new" website. I'm not really keen on any more PWE products.

GW2 has my fantasy itch covered. Just make my LTS mean something in STO. THX.

    Branflakes,
What has people upset is this:

They visit the new website (after this last weeks linking debacle) and see "NEW PERK FOR LIFETIME SUBSCRIBERS"

What would YOU think? "Oh a freebie?" "Yay, maybe some special in-game mission/assignment?"

You click the link and get, "Hey, go play this other game we're making and help us find bugs! Don't get us wrong thousands of people without LTS will also get to do the same thing, we just wanted to word it in a way that makes you think you're special so long as you don't think about it..."

    It's very anti-climactic...

    Some better headers might be:

    "NWN Closed Beta Offer"
    "Guaranteed Beta Access for LTS"
    etc, etc.

Oh goody, I can be a super-secret NW beta tester to a game Cryptic is too busy developing and putting my money into instead of fixing the MANY problems STO has? Smart. You can SHOVE the beta test, thanks.

I have to wonder if Branflakes can keep a straight face when posting this TRIBBLE...

    Thanks, but no thanks. :frown:

I'll pass on NWN and go with GW2.

Instead, may I ask that STO lifers be considered for testing the Romulan Expansion to STO and the Cardassian Expansion to STO sometime SOON? hint hint...

Why the hell would I want to point out problems with another game when I have enough on STO to point out? Try giving me a "PERK" I can use in the game I am a lifer for.

Poor to read, that most here not mature enough to understand, that's another team at NW and not the STO team. Same like all other game developers....
It's just a gift for actual lifetimers. That's all.

A lot do know that, I am suprised that some don't though, but to me that is besides the point. When I think "perk" for being a lifer, I think something special in the game as to which I am a lifer for. Not this.... If you are intrested in Neverwinter, than I am sure this is a good thing for you, and you should do it. I personally won't touch another PWE game outside of STO after all of the other TRIBBLE that has been endured. Have fun.

This is more of an advertisement for Neverwinter than it is a perk for STO. It doesn't even do anything for for STO at all.

I do appreciate the chance to dive into Neverwinter when that beta comes around, but I also can't help but feel a little disappointed that this wasn't something for STO. I think most of us would rather have a perk for STO than a perk for another game, even if it is a beta.

I, for one, hope to stick around in STO for quite some time. I'll probably still play Neverwinter, but I'll play STO a lot more.

Wow that's weird, I've never had that problem with NCSoft (of course my only interaction with them is through Guild Wars and ArenaNet). Now (im)Perfect World is another story, I'm constantly barraged with unsolicited emails begging me to play more of their P2W games.

You know I'm big on trying to see things from both sides and I try to help as many people as I can but well I've got to say it....

Some of you will complain about anything, won't you?

They offered you a free beta on another game. Take it if you want or ignore it if you don;t.

It's just there to give it a try.

Sure I would like to see as many bugs here fixed as they can. Friendly reminder that I've been locked out of the foundry for months now. I've got to admit that seeing all those contests and challenges and not being able to do any of that ticks me off.

But even I see this as them just trying to do something for the folks who have paid for the lifetime accounts.

And if you like NW better than STO, so be it. Enjoy your new game.

Ugh, These complaints are ludicrous. Where are you people getting that a perk has to be permanent? This beta access is the very definition of a perk. I bought the LTS not because I wanted access to this beta, but because I wanted to play STO, access to this beta is an added perk. If you don't want be involved in the closed beta then don't play. They did the same thing for CO LTSer's yet I don't remember them complaining. This community never ceases to amaze me, I swear you all wake up tr...combing the forums for something to complain about. I, for one, thank Cryptic for listening to those fans who wanted access.

Not sure why anyone is complaining about this. It's a FREE perk. If you don't want to use it then you don't have to. If anyone should complain it will the NWN players who might feel they have to buy LTS subscriptions to get beta access (just like we had complaints when people bought CO LTS's to get STO beta access, which got messed up too!).

Eitherway, no reason at all for STO players to get annoyed by this perk, I won't be using it, but I see no cause to feel annoyed I've been offered a beta spot in another game. Pretty sure the foundry authors will love it as well so they can test the foundry features in NWN that will get ported over to STO.
