so i caved in

and linked my accounts

it is a sad day indeed and im deeply disappointed in the cunning scheming way the forums were taken away from us, now cryptic points are being taken away from us, i have no interest in any other pwe games and I hate the way this is being forced down our throats. I would have not linked my account but the bit about it being non optional left me with no choice.

    Getting the Tuff Freighter this afternoon and the D'Kora this evening made me feel a little bit better...

    a) has the whole 10 day old character zen thing been fixed ?

    All sorted now, im not happy with having to do this and if the game didnt have a star trek ip label on it i would have been gone, also not to mention the amount of time i have invested in the game. I always thought PWE were just going to take a supportive role but now it seems they are keen to get their claws into the game and have the PWE identity rammed down our throats.

    It's still optional as far as I know, people can still use Cryptic accounts, you only need to merge to get forum posting priveledges. I hate the way it's been handled as well. I can't remember if at any point in the past we were given a choice as to whether or not we had to merge accounts :frown:

    I went ahead and linked as well. Fortunately I had no problems...but I'm stuck with this stupid display name I can't change since signing up with PW awhile back made me choose some silly 4 letter username. And a reduced character limit for passwords? Oh, that makes me feel much more secure. :rolleyes:

    lol cunning scheme. you are giving them far more credit than they deserve. Decision was undoubtedly made by the accountants and management consultants - why are you running two different softwares and paying two different licences - go one way or the other.

    If you wanted something else - Cryptic was a steal at 35million Euros (before considerations). The existing playerbase should have been able to scrape that together surely.

    How in the wide world of sports do you figure that Cryptic Points are being "taken away"?

    The cost per point, even with Zen exchange, is the same, $1 = 80 CP. Even if Cryptic points are phased out, the cost of premium items doesn't change relative to the value of the dollar/euro/whatever.

    Jesus, people, take a Valium or an Adavan or something...

    It seems like everyone forgot we had Atari points for a while, we didn't need to convert them but they worked for the legends game and some other things as well. Zen is pretty much the same thing except you have to make it game specific to spend it.

    The problem with that would be the money paid for it would be going to PW.

    I don;t think many players would be happy with that.

    Yeah, I linked too :(. I didn't want to, and still don't, but I read that it would soon be not optional, it is just that you gets stuff now. So I linked, took me 3 days to do it too. I do not like what PWE is doing. :mad:

    Actually when season 6 hits their going to change over to using Zen so we can go back to not having to convert it to spend it.

    Any such company buy-out/take-over or whatever you want to call it would eventually result in merging accounts in some way. Everything else would be stupid. I am not angered by that.

    I am angered at losing my username, several forum features and settings, join date and the requirement to restore usability of the forum by 3rd party tricks. Linking accounts is fine, but the execution was flawed.

    where did he get that from? maybe the honking big sticky post NOTICE: Cryptic Points will be converting to Zen soon

    you will still be able to use steam if you choose but it will be zen you will be buying for use in the z-store (or they may just call it Boutique who knows)

    I feel for you bro. if it makes you feel any better, you didn't have any choice.

    Like the rest of us, you were just USED. PWE doesn't care about you or startrek, they just want your money. We all know how you feel. Taped.
