I live in the south..I speak with a southern dialect..and I don't have a sunburned neck...Redneck means more than that..

That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

most inhabitants of the southern US have something of a history for being, shall we say...stubborn, pig-headed, intolerant, narrow-minded, highly resistant to change and just generally too steeped in 'tradition' for their own good

to a higher degree than any other part of the world, with the possible exception of the vast majority of middle-eastern territories

and now that i read back over this, i realize i just described the majority of the STO forum-goers as well...

not all, just most...and it's not just confederates; you got the plantation owners too - you know, the ones who all stubbornly clung to slavery as a 'god-given' right even as most of the world was waking up to just how evil it was and abolishing it?

The Bible does not endorse slavery. Anyone who says such a thing is man trying to take the word of God and twist it into his own vision.

yeah? then explain this - i DARE you

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bible_and_slavery
The Bible contains several references to slavery, which was a common practice in antiquity. The Bible stipulates the treatment of slaves, especially in the Old Testament.[1][2][3] There are also references to slavery in the New Testament.[4][5] Male Israelite slaves were to be offered release after seven years of service, with some conditions.[6][7][8] Foreign slaves and their posterity became the perpetual property of the owner's family,[9] except in the case of certain injuries.[10]
The Bible was cited as justification for slavery by defenders.[11][12] Abolitionists have also used text from the New Testament to argue for the manumission of slaves.[13][14][15][16]
    or this?

And if a man sells his daughter to be a female slave, she shall not go out as the male slaves do. If she does not please her master, who has betrothed her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her. And if he has betrothed her to his son, he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters. If he takes another wife, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marriage rights.
    —Exodus 21
that one's directly from the bible itself, though obviously modernized

One thing that must be remembered with the Bible is man over the centuries has taken and deemed what is "canon' and what is not to the Bible. Man over time has also had the power to manipulate the texts. In addition, translations over time vary greatly when translating from the original languages.

Notice how it said Defenders of slavery tried to use a passage to justify their cause. There is no justification and the Christian viewpoint does not condone slavery nor has it ever.

just like it didn't condone brutally slaughtering potentially innocent people on suspicion of being witches? or werewolves? or satanists? or homosexuals? (and even if people were guilty of that last one, they sure as hell didn't deserve to die for it)

yet most of those actions were carried out by members of the church, and no one was ever excommunicated for it as far as i'm aware - on the contrary, they were lauded as heroes for it
