prefer the enterprise era yellow over the wtf purple. though theres no way in hell the terrans could build ships the size of galaxy class, even if they stole the plans for them. assuming they have an empire again, they would have to start from scratch, there wouldn't be the infrastructure to build a comparable starfleet. that faction really should have been left out of this game imo.
info from the geko podcast, with a bit of cometary.
ug, geco the rapter may have 33k hitpoints, but it has a shield mod of .83 compared to .9 on the fed escorts. those shield hitpoints are WAY more importent then 3k hull hitpoints, the raptor is at a disadvantage with that give and take. and its pivot point makes it harder to point its nose at the target with its narrow arc cannons. it pivots at the very back of the ship, and weapon hardpoint are in front of that, far in front of that, and at point blank range the firing location can be past the target, it can be the difference between firing and not firing. i think EVERYONE would agree that the raptor is the weakest escort
ok the vesta should be a sci ship based on the recon sci, have a LTC tactical station, and an ability to mount dual cannons, maybe just dual not heavy dual. turn rate no more then 13, proboly should be 12 actually. PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE 3 VERSIONS OF IT LIKE THE ODYSSEY.
tier 5 nova its to fricken small and limited in capability IN CANON for that to be remotely believable. no tier 5 (tos) connie, and it also sounds like theres no tier 5 refit connie. he said theres a tier 5 saber and nova, but the refit connie was not mentioned. i think its safe to assume theres no tier 5 connies coming of any kind. good.
fleet ships have a 10th console slot, no special console, but a new skin. not pay to win but grind to win. with no guaranty that you will get one after you put in resources in, im super skeptical about this system functioning at all. imagine the rage if you dump everything in to get one, and the fleet masters say to bad so sad and kick you. this... just isn't going to work.
new retrofits are different from fleet ships
no fleet version of gurumba, dreadnought and excelsior becase of built in powers.
sounds like the flagship pets are gonna be playable fleet ships of some kind?
retrofit tier 4 orian ship, with a 'sweet' boff station setup, also tier 4 nasican escort. no tier 4 gorn retrofit because they all look the same. geko, we would want a retrofit for different station setups, not different looks!
sounds like on a fleet bop you will get a COM, 2 LTC and a LT uni stations. the somra raptor from enterprise is getting retrofit, hopefully the tkono too
the fleet galaxy R will get 5/3/2 consoles. DAMNIT . still worthless for dealing damage, don't do the obvious like giving it 4/3/3. high turn rate seperation ability woith the worst weapon damage potential, what a waist. being unkillable and tanky accomplishes NOTHING, and its station setup still is the worst. fleet ships will have different stations setups at least
no venture nebula yet
that one ship tier overhaul that you all love so much is impossible to do in this game engine.
he wishes there was a warp core item originally
sounds like you will be able to buy a tier 1 miranda if you want, if geko remembers
eventually an andorain escort and an andorian battle cruiser battle cruiser with broadsiding. thats stupid, convert all ships into having fore aft and side or none at all, not just 1. the side weapons slot should be a miror image, layout, not different weapons on the left side compared to the right.
most likly sci vessals is next released c store ship. or a sovereign refit... that isn't fleet?
ambassador is tied to a season 7 story. sounds like canon and probert look, though that would likely have the same legal problem as the vesta?
a good console ability for the ambassador- press to activate for 30 seconds a skill that will let you survive with up to -20% hitpoints. if damaged below 120% you die, and if the 30 seconds ends and you are below 0 hitpoints you die. why? because it looked like the enterprise C came through that rift with negative hit point, took an incredible amount of damage and somehow didnt explode.
he wants the wells class in game.... no.... thats just.... no.....
1000 day veteran ships are coming
tier 5 ktinga mentioned
carrier pets are gonna get those unreleased bop skins. i bet all those retrofit brels would like to actually FLY those skins
purple quality fleet pets. YES, MORE POWERFUL SPAM INCOMING.
sovereign refit after season 6, all fleet ships that are tier 5 now will require tier 5 shipyards to get. gonna take a long time to grind that out. any post nemisis sovereign look isn't different enough to bother with. there will proboly be an armatage like new skin for it though. might have a 180 degree quantum launcher (torpedoes not having that arc already is STUPID, they are arc-less tracking weapons) might also eject and ignite metryon gas, riker maneuver. definitely tactical heavy.
tier 5 Olympic will be very sci heavy, enhanced crew regeneration
fleet ships with the different station setups will also not be duplicates, at least not much
the odds to get the freighter are better then the odds to get lock box ships.
everything i talk about was brought up, and im ether stating what he said, or trying to counter his opinion on things. i guess it might not make much sense unless you listened to it, oh well
tier 5 nova its to fricken small and limited in capability IN CANON for that to be remotely believable. no tier 5 (tos) connie, and it also sounds like theres no tier 5 refit connie. he said theres a tier 5 saber and nova, but the refit connie was not mentioned. i think its safe to assume theres no tier 5 connies coming of any kind. good.
The Nova Class is virtually the same size as a Defiant Class. Nova (165m), Defiant (170m). The Defiant is obviously capable of being a Tier 5 ship, and yet it's "small and limited in capability". The Rhode Island refit of the Nova Class, was more than capable in canon, in the year 2404 of taking on a squadron of Klingon Negh'vars.
Yeah, I don't get the whole "This ship is small, so it can't be powerful" argument that often comes up. Size shouldn't have much of an influence on a ship's overall power - the Defiant proved that.
In general the Fleet ship and Retrofit system seems very frustrating. I don't know if I'll have the patience and motivation to take part in that.

the nova actually has about 20k cubic meters of volume on the defiant class, length is just about the most worthless measurement of starship size with them all shaped so differently.
the mistake people make is assuming the defiant deserves to be tier 5. it could kill bug ships and bops easily enough, but all it could do is run from a vorcha. they never put it in a situation it couldn't survive, except that 1 time, and it never got a kill bigger then a breen ship, witch didn't hold up much better then a bug ship did when shot at. it was an even match for an uprated 80 year old design excelsior class, that doesn't mean an excelsior and defiant belong in the top tier, unless you use sto logic. its impressive that the defiant is around as powerful as a ship 16 times its size, but any ship more modern or as large as an excelsior is going to be more powerful then it. that every ship from intrepid size up to the galaxy size.
the nova ran interference on some negvars for a few seconds, thats hardly taking them on with the slightest chance of defeating them

size allows for everything to be better, its mind boggling that people think size isn't the number 1 factor in determining how powerful or dangerous something is. it allows for larger weapon banks, larger warp cores and impulse reactors, larger more burst capable torpedo launchers, longer phaser arrays, larger shields emitters, more damage soak volume, just everything. the most powerful ships have always been the largest, the defiant is the only example were a smaller ship might be more powerful then a larger one, and really its not even in the top 5 most dangerous starfleet ships.
the defiant has this big overpowered warp core! ya its proboly using a warp core from a saber class. big deal, well maybe for a ship its size. its pulse cannons are so powerful it can destroy a bug ship with a 4 second burst! well, a galaxy class in 3 full array discharges made 3 craters in the surface of a borg cube that cumulatively were at least twice the volume of the enterprise D. of course it was never allowed to fire shots that powerful again on screen, because of plot railroading. the defiant can fire 6 quantum torpedoes in a mater of seconds! at one point the enterprise D fired 10 photons in a single second, with no indication it couldn't fire 10 more if it wanted to in another second. it was only allowed to do this because its target is invincible/ imaginary, cant have the flagship of the federation not be the underdog in every story, letting it flex its muscles is bad story telling!
Yeah, I don't get the whole "This ship is small, so it can't be powerful" argument that often comes up. Size shouldn't have much of an influence on a ship's overall power - the Defiant proved that.
Bruce Lee was 5'7 Not very big... but I wouldn't have wanted him hunting me.
geko is working on updating npcs! https://twitter.com/#!/CaptainGeko great news, this is what ive been hoping they would do for quite a wile. npcs are their bread and butter, its 90% of what you interact with in game, provided you don't almost exclusively pvp like me
its not exactly what i would have wanted, more station powers and weapons and less huge damage and hitpoint multipliers, but its better then nothing.
but first a word on quad cannons-
"Increasing damage/dps on quad phaser and disruptor so they are better than mk 12 purple duals when you are VA. Going out with season 6."
so thats cool, now onto npc news
"Updating tons of space critters for season 6 including gorn, nausicaan, Klingon, Orion. Working on fed now."
"Critter additions include a ferengi battle mode, nausicaan guramba and scourge, orion corsairs and marauder, Klingon bortas and bortasqu"
"Gorn Dragus, Dragus and phalanx. All these critters will have the associated abilities."
"Also adding bioneural warhead, isometric charge, Subspace jump and stasis beam to Klingon critter ships. Lots more."
so npcs will have all the high end player ships, maybe replacing all the older ugly npc models. these ships are getting at least the special console abilities too, and hopefully more, and according to borticus-
"The Tholian enemies are really shaping up. I'm deeply proud of how they're turning out, and can't wait for you all to fight them in STO!"
Heads up: We will be probably renaming Bridge Officer Skill Points since they can now be used in Fleet Projects and possibly future systems
Working rename is "Expertise".

Back when you released Caitians in beta I had to have one, still love playing em =^.^= the Ferisans are great too...but when are you going to fix the taylor problem, ever since I got my first Caitian, you are unable to lable thier uniforms, this goes in tribble, red shirt and even the new Ferisans? Its been an inconvenience, hope u add that to the season 6 patch.
I almost forgot to ask, will you be able to wear your maco rifle on your back in holodeck this time? That looks really cool. Too bad you didnt release it last time.
Season 6 released.. bloody 3000 queue? What are those idiots thinking?
But you know what? I don't mind.
I hate to see this go bad and all for cryptic.. but I'll gladly make new forum/site reviews about this game that will be NEGATIVE talks.. >_> not my problem, you guys (cryptic) can't seem to have the game run decently..
I'll just go sleep and see it in the morning. If I can't get in by then, goodluck cryptic, your going to lose lots of members, and not from my reviews, but the dumb queue in general.
Expand the game to host more players, is this an mmorpg or 2d mario? Because it looks like mario to me.. :P
