Hello :)

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Elizabeth, but you can call me Liz, Ellie, or whatever you'd like.

I've been a Trekkie for years. While I was nowhere near being born when TOS aired, (My mother was born in 62, I was born 92) The Original Series and TNG are both absolutely my favorite. Hence why I picked ElizabethKirk.

My favorite characters are Kirk, Spock, Bones, Picard, Crusher (both).

I'm also a huge fan of the reboot. Chris Pine is undoubtably hot. Can't forget Quinto.

I was on Youtube when I came across this, a small video playing in the corner and its like OMGREALLY!? When I saw the little video for it, I got a big high.

So taking a small break from reading 2009/TOS fanfiction on Fanfiction.net, I just had to do it.

Anyways, I don't know anybody here. So, if you'd like to talk, I'm here!

Thanks,
Ellie

Hello Elizabeth, I'm Nero...wait, nevermind. Anyway, welcome to the game, but I would recommend avoiding the forums for a couple of days. They just made a big change and its mostly rage at the moment. Check back in a week or so and hopefully it will be the typical game related rage again

Hello, I would just like to brief you on one little thing you should brace for.

The STO website was just changed (including the forums) and there are probably more posts hating it than anything else. Probably? No wait, I'm certain. So just take a glimpse at a few threads and you'll realize the full extent of the damage.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

    Welcome to STO, Miss Kirk.
    Hope you survive the experience.
Of note, avoid the forums until the regulars here manage to get all their "mad" out about the recent sweeping changes that have left many ... shall we say ... enraged.

    Welcome!

As stated above, the forums just had a massive change that is largely not popular. I would suggest jumping right into the game and leave the forums alone for the time being. The game itself isn't half bad.

What we're trying to say elizabethkirk is...

Run away from the forums and don't look back. Come back in a couple weeks from now and see if something has changed.

Oh I've finally seen all the other posts. I didn't realize things were just changed! (I always seem to come in a bit late....)

I would however like to thank you guys for replying to my thread, and politely, I may add. I have no doubt we'll one day be fellow trekkie friends. (If I don't bug ya all to death with my obsession over this.)

Waiting until the madness is over shouldn't be too hard, as I have school 2 days a week and work the rest. College is madness in itself and so is my job, but I'm pretty sure coming on in the evenings will be a treat in itself. :)

    Nice to meet you all!!

I'll echo what everyone else has said here. Avoid the forums, and jump into the game. It has tutorials, and a good community (in-game) that can help you get started.

Best of luck in your adventures.

We can be trekkie friends now if you'd like... I can send you a friend request in game if you want, seeing as how PWE broke it here on the website.

And last I checked, there wasn't any raging about the website change. However, I haven't visited ESD or DS9 today.

    Thank you! :)

Sadly, I have an estimated wait-time of 4 hours and 10 minutes until the game will be installed (it's installing now though!), so in between replying to my own thread, I will be waiting for my game to upload and reading ST TOS/2009 Fanfiction. :)

Just let me know when your game installs. Here are a few primers to the chat system:

All maps are divided into several zones, depeding on how many people there are. Until you have 20 hours of play, you can only use local chat which is visible to people only in your zone. After 20 hours of play, you can talk in zone chat which is visible to everyone. In ESD (Earth Spacedock) and DS9 (ok, that one's pretty obvious) I highly suggest turning off the zone chat (there is some real garabage talk in there). On the left side of the chatbox is a chat settings button and you can disable whatever channels you want. I can walk you through the rest when your game's installed.

    Miss Kirk,

Welcome to STO! Since you are patching, please be aware that the default game has "On Demand Patching" enabled. This means the game constantly downloads patches to itself even while you are playing!

You can disable this function by selecting the "Disable On Demand Patching" box in the Options menu of your STO launcher. Your download will be much larger but it'll save you loading time as you explore the game and do missions.

Other than that, keep your Tribbles away from food, a phaser on your hip holster, and a hypospray handy. Happy Trekking!
