Ah, we can finally use different front sizes? That at least is neat.

I 100% agree, these forums are the result of PWE continuing its backside ravaging of our beloved cryptic.
First we get these lockbox BS, now we have to link our STO account on here with the rest of PWE's games? Rubbish.
The only games I play from PWE are the ones cryptic created. Now I try to log in to buy Cpoints... Noo. Zen. I don't want yout TRIBBLE-encrested zen.
These changes are not boding well for STO. I am hoping PWE will let cryptic make this a good game and that these eye-sore forums, covered in ads are just one incident. Doubtful though.
Why do PWE have to come try fix what isnt broken.:mad:
To be honest, this is frickin' hilarious! There's just so much wrong with the transfer that looks more like a comedy than the real deal.
I mean, if it'd been in a youtube machinima movie, we'd all have laughed at the ad that offers free points that doesn't work...
Priceless.
EDIT:
Something new just came in. I clicked on my name to go to my profile, and somehow ended up in a token shop where I could buy magic rings that increase certain stats in a different PWE game. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Now, THIS is Perfect world ENTERTAINMENT!
The new front page and forum makes all this looks like a... urgh..
Ads (even if they are for Zen points), large layout, no capital letters in display name, LIEK US ON FAECBUUK, no custom avatar.. its all BAD
It all now looks like a cheep or free website where the owner hardly had any say in how the site looks.
It looks unprofessional, mismatched and disgustingly cheap made.
Can't get a prober overview of the site and and its features. You have to look for everything.
Even worse.. suddenly have to register AGAIN to play a game you were already registed to and playing.
but you dont have to register
Yes you do, you can't gain access to your account infomation on the website without a PW account now, or gain accesss to the forum.
And eventually they are most likely gonna remove the cryptic accounts.
Ingame.. suddenly the cost for c-points have switched over to euros, instead of Danish currency..
I am Danish. Denmark doesn't use Euros.
And apprently even if my card is connected to my account it doesn't show on the list to select payment method.
Only good thing is the game itself hasn't changed.
"Please, Captain, not in front of the Klingons." Spock to Kirk, as Kirk is about to hug him.
Star Trek V: "The Final Frontier"
You guys have really outdone yourselves this time.
The site looks terrible. The new banner and background takes up way too much of my desktop's real estate or is hidden by the boundaries of my browser window. Forced account merge to use the forums. The main PW site doesn't even list Star Trek as one of its' games. NO idea where to find my C-Point balance, all I know is I have zero Zen and I thank my lucky stars that I had a low balance of C-Points.
You could have, should have, softened the blow by announcing that you were going to make radical changes like these ahead of time. Suddenly getting slapped in the face with them is most unpleasant.
I realize that the PWE side of the business is probably responsible for this atrocity. I still love Star Trek, so I'll deal with it... for now.
My views may not represent those of Cryptic Studios or Perfect World Entertainment. You can file a "forums and website" support ticket here Link: How to PM - Twitter @STOMod_Bluegeek
Not only can I not edit my old posts, I can't even search for my old posts, since the poster names have all been assimilated.
And my name was taken (seriously? 'Maelwys'? An obscure minor character from Welsh mythology? Wanna bet it was taken by my original Cryptic account and the link process is so screwed up it can't tell?)
can we get a dev or some one not from PWE to sort this out since PWE has not trust from the forum community or the gamming community as this is now out of hand and it needs sorting with some one with a brain cell.

Yes,that is my guess, too.

Lack of ability to check in-game E-mail is a complete fail on the re-design. And I wasn't affected nearly as badly as some who had to change usernames.
PWE, two questions...
1) Why did you feel this was a better alternative to what we had?
2) Do you plan on restoring in-game E-mail checking functionality sooner rather than later?
So the forum will now be handed by the PWE team and not cryptic,
it will run on PWEs servers, not Cryptics
less work,, less resources needed, less costs.
Its that simple.
Plus it brings the game under the umbrella of the pwe website.
Yesterday I was just another content STO gamer, chatting on the forums and loved the website. I was on the verge of actually spending money to get the Armitage, maybe more. But now I fell as if PWE tossed me in a pool of ice cold water. I don't think I'm going to spend my money now, this is so horridly bad. And the forums... I used to be able to glance at the avatar and recognize the person. Now I don't even know who's who. The lock boxes we could live with actually. But this... no one in their right mind would accept this. Now I'm going to go and see what the damage is to my signature, name, etc.
I never posted much on the old forums, but I did use them to read my PMs online and at times enjoyed reading them.. now not so much...
Ignoring the stuff that is utterly broken, the new layout is an absolute fail..
Most of it boils down to wasted space: loading the index on an average screen shows a massive header and banner, leaving a whopping ~15% of screen estate for actual content. basically the only thing you see on screen is lots of useless stuff and the first category with actual content (Federation News Network) For everything else you have to scroll.. on most screens you will have to scroll through ~6 times the full height of your screen.. the old design fitted everything on ~3!!
The utterly useless 'Forums' title needs/wates a whopping 200px height IN ADDITION to the 150px wasted above it to separate from the global site menu. Then there is the useless bar containing the "Edit your avatar'.. (i won't even start about the point of having this is if we can't even use our own). The need to show ads is understandable, but right now we end up with a homepage on which there is absolutely nothing of interest on the screen without scrolling.
Another example is the (not working) private messages screen: instead of an inbox you get all the above screen estate hogging elements PLUS all options for your control panel and only after scrolling down TO THE BOTTOM can you see your actual inbox... i mean, WTF, i want to see my inbox, not everything else related to my account.. there s this principle that important data should be ON SCREEN, not hidden away at the bottom of a page.
Another utterly broken part is readability in threads.. in the old design it was easy to recognize posters by avatar and username was also prominently shown.. in the new design
the username is nearly hidden between the now useless avatar and the title.. did the designer never take importance of data into consideration when positioning data..
Asians may like flashy sites with flash intros and without any substance but this does not work for western portals.
I manage software and webdesign projects for a living.. I know one thing, if a designer were to present this design even as a concept I'd have him cleaning toilets rather then let him touch another project.
I don't like this new forum one bit. I hate having to scroll just to find the thread content; I dislike the loss of custimization and seeing 'archive post' everywhere is just annoying.
Oh look at that, when I edited my signature to get it back, it didn't put it on all my old posts like it used to. It justs puts it on posts I made after I edited it.
Borg cube heavy plasma torpedoes destroying your ship in one shot. What was broken that needed that to happen? Listen Cryptic/PWE... if it ain't broken don't take a sledge hammer and destroy it, then attempt to piece it back together.
