Massive trash talking ensues...

As for the team not being able to handle Donatra easily, they did something with her AI that made her even actually nasty to fight.

Something seriously must be done. Players don't always work together and when they all don't communicate and work as a team a single player can TRIBBLE it up for everyone.

Tonight I'm in Cure. We blow all the cubes within seconds. A small wave of warships spawn. The problem is most of the mission 4 ships are barely able to keep the kang alive while I solely run around blowing up nanite units. So...three of us blow up the cubes all at the same time. Two guys are defending and manage to allow the Kang to blow up. The rest of us are trying to kill off the single wave of warships and are unable to reach the Kang to hail it. Low and behold the other two idiots manage not to hail the Kang as they were suposed to do and allowed it to blow up. So...40 min of hard work down the drain. The most wonderful thing about it all? I did get a single one of the drops. Nothing. I am level 50 on an elite mission. I literally walked away from that 40 minute long mission with NOTHING. Had I left I would have been forced to wait an hour.

Now, it would be really nice if someone would make an attempt to rebalance these missions. They take long enough and with a single idiot on the team it can draw a mission out to nearly an hour long event. In the end you may even walk out in failure and nothing to show for it. I am a lifetime subscriber. I did so to support the game I enjoy to play. I also did it after the free to play option came in. I seriously didn't pay all that money to lose countless hours in game because some moron joined up in missions I have no control over who comes in and who doesn't, the only place I can get the highest grade equipment for my maxed out character, and pretty much the only worth wild things to do for end game content.

Honestly...these missions are a joke and need a serious rethink.

Yes, they're a joke indeed - they're laughably easy as they are and yet people still complain and call for a nerf.

CSE can be completed in 3-5minutes, FYI.

Seriously, just join any of the "Elite" channels in the game and you won't have to worry about mindless pugs. PvE queues are simply not the way to go when it comes Elite STFs. Like, at all...

Right now I'm either doing STFs with fleetmates or with people from "Elite" channels, or not doing them at all. And you know what? As a result the absolute worst experiences I can recall from recent months have only to do with people using TBR too much, or being too afraid to make a RML run in CSE, sticking with boring MRRML, because they won't accept the fact that some people are able to solo spawning Raptors and even Negh'Vars just fine.

This is the reason you people either need a fleet, a group of friends or the above mentioned community channels. Once you know how to play them the Elite STFs are extremely easy. People I know play them solely to beat their times, such as all cubes in CSE destroyed with 12:18 left on the optional timer.

    Just had my worst KASE.

I've arrived "late" to the STF and there are only 3 other people in. The 1st cube is still alive, and drifted all the way over to the left hand gate. One of the guys is moaning (lets call him "P"), saying that the group is too poor for him to consider playing with.

We take down the cube, and someone pulls up the left cube on the left hand side. I end up defending probes on both side. 1 guy is dead ("J") and the 4th guy (lets call him "B") pulls up up both cubes on the right, making no effort to kill them. And either "P" or "B" pulls up the final cube for the full set. And "P" and "B" just want to fail the mission to they can get out without a leavers penalty.

I've been pugging KA a lot recently, and I've seen a lot of failed optionals recently, but I've never seen anything like this before.

I think I ended up joining the one you left. It took a while but it went ok after a bit of guidance.

Other than that I had a KAE that took over an hour because the people in my group wanted to ignore the cubes after triggering them, but also they were mostly beam boats and we were sorely lacking in firepower. With Donatra they just wanted to get in close and hit her with beams so I gave up with staying 5km away and just hit her with my console attacks.

who said these are problems? PUGs are the source for the funniest topic of STO forum's history
also sometimes it takes ages to make a group on elite stf channel, and my fleet is also hard to convince sometimes, so I just pug (which ends up sometimes like a mess, and sometimes well - most of the time it is the latter, which is not stated in this topic enough times)

My worst so far was a KASE. I was in my Ody (I know what you're thinking: "Tac in an Ody? n00b!" but I actually hold aggro pretty well, and have more often than not survived STF's longer than my Engi counterparts) and was guarding the left side gate. I was doing pretty well, wasting the probes as they spawned when all of a sudden, I see the "failed" objective jump from 0 to 2. I'm thinking "Ok, no big deal, guard may have just been overwhelmed." and I keep on blasting the probes Eventually, I look again, and this time it's up to 6. 6! SIX probes got through! So, I proceed to look over to the other side and I saw...nobody. Everyone of the morons was busy trying to bring down one of the transformers. I proceed to ask "So...who's guarding right?" One escort FINALLY breaks off and kills two probes before the can get away. We eventually succeeded and I finally got my MACO XII deflector :).

    Touche.

I will admit that the most humorous of my STFs have all been pugs. And some of them were just so bad it wasn't even annoying anymore, it was just downright funny.

That's not the answer. Pugging is, in itself, a game of chance. I posted about a failed STF instance I experienced yesterday. This morning I joined a PuG ISE and we mopped the floor with the Borg with ease and finished the entire thing with somewhere around six minutes to spare. The best thing? There wasn't a great deal of communication between us - it wasn't really needed; everyone knew what to do, and we steamrollered the whole thing and it was absolutely fantastic!

I'd hate to lose out on the above experience simply because of the chance that I MIGHT wind up with a team of clueless rainbow-boat players. It'll happen sometimes, but it's worth enduring the bad ones for the sake of the good, and great, ones.

agreed and my worst STF experience at hand so far was a Cure space ELite mission gone horridly wrong NOBODY helped the kang defender (which was me in my oddy op crusier) second they poped a cube while we were struggling with the BOP's yes since i had to put up with 6 birds of prey at a time i was streched thin and even when they came to help after i yelled at them the kang still blew up 3 were rainbows and i forget what the other was. This was by far the worst team i had seen in a STF no coordination whatsoever and they even ignored my pleas for assistance when the BOP's were overruning me since it was a 6 on 1 fight.

My worst experience in an STF I had was yesterday when I pulled a PUG who wouldn't fire, claiming he had a bug .. and basically just sat their for the entire fight berating the entire crew... actually we made the optional but not because of any help from this one individual. Who was frankly there just to cause grief to other players - sad little person...

A similar bug happened once to me after a respawn in CSE -.- Could only heal and tried to get killed :P After the respawn everything was ok.

Actually, your problems will be only slightly relieved. The team pugs from the STF chat groups or fleets aren't much, if any, better. They've been contaminated by plenty of people with Rainbow/Technicolor beams and poorly built ships.

The Pugs are 3/4 of the fun of the game. You never know what your going to get. We can complain all we want, nothing will fix a player that's set on Technicolor/Rainbow beams and an otherwise poorly built ship.

The only thing that's been done that was useful and needed in the STF pugs was the removal of the shuttles, which in a way I wish would come back because they added a little more fun to the stories found here.

If you want to avoid the Technicolor/Rainbow beam and poorly built ship problem, REQUIRE ship inspections within your fleet and boot anyone who won't conform and then only fly STF's and Fleet missions from within your fleet. But even this might only give you a slight advantage.

Had a go at hive onslaught last night, one player, the borg queen really hated him, lets call him joseph. Poor Joseph in his technicoloured beam boat trying to kill the borg queen ship, absolutely hilarious, the rest of the team used him as a aggro magnet.

It just goes to show that if you come into the hive onslaught stf with a technicoloured beam boat, you will be punished.

Just PUGged IGE, because there's very little love for ground STFson the Elite channel at the moment. Dropped me into a game where the optional was already lost and two players were each running with critical injuries, I PM'd them both to ask them to heal because it affects dps and will lead to even more injuries. One replied and said he was healing but that it wasn't "going to well lolz!". I asked him where his regnerators were, and he asked what were they, he was using hypos.

I guess I give this game until GTAV comes out. All the money I've wasted on ZEN could buy me a second PS3.

Hive Space Elite. Got the Queen down to 10%, on a team of THREE PEOPLE, and then she just picked up her stuff and went home, healing to full.

Apparently it happened to a bunch of other uses at the same time, because like ten different instances all flipped out in zone chat at the same time.

      There I was.... LOL! :D

      CSN

      I pugged in...

      Said 'Hi' as usual.

      No responce...

I flew over to the right and was the only one there, as usual.

Four ships at the Kang, as usual.

First thing I see, is way more plasma fires than there was before Season 7.

I don't know if I like this or not.

A Klink flys in and starts helping with the first cube.

He's using Tetryons and it doesn't seem like he's doing much damage but at least he's not setting at the Kang.

      Cube goes boom...

I fly over to Cube 2, no help again since everyones back at the Kang. As usual.

Plasma damage all over the place, I'm wishing I has a second Hazard Emmiter.

Klink shows up again and helps a little.

      Cube goes boom.

Fly to the third cube and the sequence starts over. No help.

Too much plasma damage, what were they thinking when they added all the plasma but I'm holding up OK.

Nobody helps through the first five nodes.

Klink shows up again and does what he can.

      Cube goes boom.

I fly to the Kang which is being hammered by the last group of Borg to leave the thirsd cube.

I hail the Kang just in time and it flys off.

The three ships which were protecting the Kang were all escorts, YES FLEET PATROL ESCORTS, with Technicolor/Rainbow beams.

What a waste of a good ship. :P

I guess this is more of a non-experience, but...

Yesterday I was going to do ISN.

I queued up, clicked Engage when prompted.

I was ready to enter as soon as the 10 second countdown ended, and...

Nothing happened. I was still on New Romulus and when I checked the PvE queues list, I suddenly had an STF leaver penalty. O.o

Yesterday , first time in the new space STF Normal. Everything went well, we even got optional.

But it was pure chaos , with me blowing up twice. Hull most of the time at ~50%.
On Elite with PUGS? Probably a nightmare. I will like it :-P And finally enough targets xD

And finally we got Dill back into STF's :-) Not this thread nor our favored time wasting activity will be going down , wohoo xD

Ghost Ship. 20+ Romulan ships against 1? I had to ignore the attackers and just destroy the portals and then it had me searching for some anomaly that didn't exist according to my scanner. I must've dies at least 15 times searching for the damn thing. I wound up quitting the episode.

And all that back and fourth from the "ghost ship" and my ship...tedious and frustrating.

Cure Space normal, about a week ago.

I said hi, I got no answer as usual.

A rainbow beam cruiser flies past me, and I know I'm in trouble.

Then an Advanced MV escort flies around, armed only with beam arrays and shooting the upper probes while leaving the down ones untounced under the cube.

So my Patrol escort had to basically bring down the probe, the cube and the spawns all alone while the other 4 players struggled to do the same.

The other two mutes may have been average, since they managed to keep the Kang safe from the other two spawns.

Then I blow the cube up, the two usual guys blow their one up, and we went to help the Beam Array Escort and the Rainbow Cruiser to deal with the last one.

And I believe I got cursed at in german for some reason. No idea how or why though.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

      I just finished a CSN..

      Oh Yea, I forgot...

      There I was!

I pugged into a CSN and said 'HI' as usual.

      No responce as usual.

I fly off to the right and start on the nodes.

      One ship follows. Yippee!

He blows up right away and he doesn't come back.

So I finish off the cube 1 and head to 2.

No nodes at 2 so I start on the cube.

      The cube goes boom.

I fly off to 3 and see some guy in a fleet star cruiser with Technicolor/Rainbow beams blasting away at the cube.

      All the nodes are intact.

I start on the nodes and type 'Shoot the nodes not the cube!'

      No responce.

I finally get all the nodes killed with no help from anyone.

The guy in the star cruisr is still blasting away at the cube.

The cube goes boom and I head off to hail the Kang.

Someone hails it before me which is fine so I kill a few remaining Raptors.

The carrier appears and I type, 'Hey (so and so) with the star cruiser, Never played a Cure normal before?'

He sends back, 'No, first one.' :o

I say, 'You might want to go read the forums about how to do the STF's and how to build your ship.'

He says, 'OK, I will.'

Maybe we'll all get lucky and he'll actually come and read the forums. ;)
