We're debating the possibility of adding this feature to the cross-faction BOFFs as well (that is, you could dismiss your current very rare cross-faction BOFF from Diplomacy/Marauding, and claim a different one). This would let you dismiss a very rare cross-faction BOFF that you didn't really want and pick a different one instead; it would not affect the early common (white quality) cross-faction BOFFs that you may have gotten waaaay back when Diplomacy first premiered (and if you dismissed one of those, you would not be able to replace it).
Please do. I would love to be able to upgrade my last white DOff to something better.

It's been a while. I think there were two variants of various BOFFS available, in terms of their traits, but that wasn't the case with the tactical Gorn officer. I remember I wanted mine to be able to "bite," but that was not available on the tactical officer but was on science and engineering. Maybe that's been fixed.

My other couple of suggestions here would be:
- Longterm, look at having a special ship you can trade exotic BOs for via project. For 5 exotic BOs, you get the ship. (This way, someone with fully maxed DOff categories can have a full exotic away team and a use for the other 5.) Likewise, maybe super-exotic BOffs you can trade for at a 2:1 rate like Tholian-in-EV suit BOs.
- Look at expanding out the Marauding/Diplomacy BOff stores to include BOs from third party factions, possibly including Sci/Eng Breen, Tac/Eng Remans, Ground-traited Romulans, Cardassians, etc. All available from Jiro or the KDF equivalent. All available for a token. All DO categories award the same token with a different text hail explaining how you got the BO.
- Possibly have a rare assignment or project for people who completed all categories to get additional tokens, once you have a project that consumes the exotic BOs.

As I elaborated in my last post, I'd actually be in favor of expanding out Jiro/Klingon guy's store to include more non-Fed/KDF BOs.
But make it so that all DOff categories award the same token, letting you pick.
It would allow you to have full away teams of the commendation BOs you want.
And maybe look at something similar to the Veteran BOs given out from the dil conversion as an option there too.
Something like:
Outer World Human (for Fed) and Outer World Klingon (for KDF).
The vet traits are:
Veteran: Unique Ground Trait. Provides a bonus to damage and dodge chance for all team members, and a personal bonus to critical hit chance.
Space Warfare Specialist: Unique Space Trait. Provides a bonus to Starship Maneuvers, Starship Targeting Systems, Starship Energy Weapons, and Starship Projectile Weapons, which improves maneuverability, chance to hit, and damage output.
Maybe the Outer World Humans/Klingons could have the Space Warfare Trait and be options from Jiro/Klingon guy for people who want something IP appropriate. Maybe the normally Andorian only Fury trait? The core idea being sortof Tasha/Ishara Yar humans.

I really like this idea a LOT, though I would favor expanding the Commendation BO roster beyond just the opposite faction. I'd love to see some of these as unique BO's that you could put into the correct uniform for your faction (if desired).
For example, I'd like to see Exploration award an Alien BO instead of a cross-faction one and Espionage ought to give you a pick between a Romulan or a Cardassian; the selection should be appropriate to the category.

Pretty much the uniform, Transwarp powers, sector speed buff, purple bridge officer, and duty officers. The white bridge officer is no longer available.
So new characters only get one opposite faction BO now? That's a bummer. I would have thought they get two. I guess that fact that he BOs aren't bound helps that issue, though.

The purple BO is bound. I found that out the hard way when I got a Gorn I was intending to give to an alt and was stuck with it. A token to be able to change it to something helpful for the original captain would be a nice fix (though not what I want).
Hopefully with Android sorted, they can sort out marauders BOs as I also have a Trill taking up space KDF side. That was a colossal disappointment too.

I had one on my character, discharged it, tried to claim a new one and now I can't.
Update: Turns out I had no free slots on my boff roster, used one to train another boff, opened up a free space, now I can claim my android.
Worked fine for me, once, on Fed side. No joy after that. None of my other toons can re-claim the BOFF
